Last week Spain financed publication of a school textbook it says is unlike any other in the European Union - a primer for Muslim first-graders to learn about Islam, but do so in Spanish as a way to integrate better into society, officials said Wednesday. During the same week the integration commissioner of the German government, Maria Boehmer called for the swift introduction of state-supervised Islam classes at the country's school. Both these are attempts at better understanding and integrating Muslims into Western culture.
So how are they doing? Are programs like these in Spain and Germany having any affect on young Muslims to better accept the cultural values of the EU countries?
Compare the news articles above with this one.
A Dutch report says more young Turks in the Netherlands are turning to radical Islam, prepared to use violence against the West. The report by the Netherlands' national anti-terrorism co-ordination office NCTb said at an earlier time, young Dutch Turks would appear occasionally in "jihad networks" made up primarily of North Africans, Expatica and ANP report. However, now it appears to be whole groups of youths susceptible to radical Islam, the report said. "Frustration over the position of Muslims in the Netherlands and anger over the events in conflict regions give food to the feeling that 'something' must be done," the NCTb said.
All the appeasement to Muslim sensibilities and attempts at assimilation in the world will not work with a culture that refuses to integrate into their host cultures. It’s getting worse, as these news reports shows, instead of getting better.
