But Bandar was here for an entire generation, from Reagan on

Prince Turki Al-Faisal Resigns as Saudi Ambassador to US (suddenly, without warning, and leaves the country)

From ARABNEWS:

WASHINGTON, 13 December 2006 — Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to the United States, Prince Turki Al-Faisal, abruptly resigned his post after only 15 months on the job and left the country, The Washington Post reported Monday. Prince Turki, a long-serving former intelligence chief, served as Saudi ambassador to London before taking up the post in Washington.

WaPo says this:

The abrupt departure is particularly striking because his predecessor, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, spent 22 years on the job. The Saudi ambassador is one of the most influential diplomatic positions in Washington and is arguably the most important overseas post for the oil-rich desert kingdom.Turki, a long-serving former intelligence chief, told his staff yesterday afternoon that he wanted to spend more time with his family, according to Arab diplomats. Colleagues said they were shocked at the decision.

The exit -- without the fanfare, parties and tributes that normally accompany a leading envoy's departure, much less a public statement -- comes as his brother, Prince Saud al-Faisal, the highly influential Saudi foreign minister, is ailing.

(or perhaps means Washington DC is toast - among other tasty bread slices, or some evidence of donations to a 'charity', or there is going to be a coup, or....)

. 'Our Muslim brothers in America, this is our final warning. We ask you, as fast as you can, to leave the following cities immediately: Washington, D.C., New York City, Los Angeles,

My recent interview with Osama bin Laden's biographer HAMID MIR confirmed that Saudi backed [North American] Al Qaeda cells are in the final stages of preparation for the next attack on American soil. The North American Ummah has received regular warnings as per Islamic custom, to leave INFIDEL lands, and the true believers will follow Bandy's lead.

The Haj provides a plausible excuse for leaving the targeted areas....our areas, our United States and Canada.

Obviously the enemy takes Al Qaeda's threats and warnings very seriously. We should also.

I'll have more to report when I return for my expedition to Jihad U (McMaster University...Hamilton Ontario)where our worst fears regarding our vulnerability to nuclear attack have been confirmed.

What??? My guess is that the House of Saud feels threatening days ahead. Or is the threat coming OUR way?

Maybe he went home for the Hajj?

The warning to leave has been given, the Haj provides the rationale for leaving, the trans-Atlantic airliner plot is allegedly being reworked, and CAIR is facilitating the breakdown of our airline security system via the six imams-generated lawsuit threats. This could turn out to be quite an interesting holiday season. My question is, what is the likelihood of half-measures (e.g., downing 3 or 4 planes over the Atlantic) for the value of shock, terror, jacking up the jihad boys a few notches, messing with the airline industry, etc., vs. something more surgical involving, say, nukes and coastal cities. (Assuming they are capable of the latter, and I see no reason to assume they aren't, at least on a limited basis.)

Taking Turki's departure out of the above context, my guess would be concern about a coup. Phares believes that "short of deep reform, the monarchy... can only delay the "Salafization" of the country" by the pro-jihadist clerics and emirs. And the monarchy wants to have its cake and eat it too -- maintain their position with the West while claiming that our policies are the source of jihadism but not giving up their Wahabist ideology that IS a source of jihadism. They can't keep that up forever, and maybe someone is about to shove them off the pot.

Of course, a jihadist-run Saudi Arabia is not something one wants to think about during the holiday season. Especially while driving around Christmas shopping...

Michael,
I don't think there were any similar warnings in the days prior to 9/11. If I am correct, it would indicate that the attack coming is of an entirely different nature than that of 9/11.

Am I readint that correctly?

Could I interview Hamid Mir on my radio show?

I don't think his speedy departure has anything to do with AQ's warnings, but I'm pretty sure that the "flying imams" have.

And I strongly believe that somebody has to take on CAIR with some kind of a counter lawsuit.
