Think Muslim women are the answer to reforming Islam? Think again. Many pundits believe that if we would only get Muslim women to demand that their shackles be removed from them, this could be one path to the reformation of the mid-evil religion of Islam.
The pundits were banking on the feeling of oppression. Don’t hold your breath.

That little spark of misogyny in Western religious culture that still regards women as less than full human beings, acceptable only if they fulfill their sexual and breeding duties with proper submission to the god who owns their minds and bodies, and to their god-empowered husbands, is a full-fleged wind-whipped general alarm conflagration in Islam. We are fighting for our rights as Western women not to be dragged into the flames. Yes, there are a few men in the West who would enslave us to their religious notions. But ALL men who follow the laws of Islam fully intend to see us enslaved or dead.
Not exactly a hard choice to make. (And why I have no qualms about voting for Romney, btw.)
We also fight for those courageous women have stood up to declare themselves free human beings and have left Islam. And for those women who remain trapped in a religious culture they loath by force or by the holding hostage of their children.
But those adult women who do freely choose to submit to the Muslim concept of women's "place" in the world are no concern of mine. They have chosen to side with their oppressors in solidarity with the Islamists' hope of driving me and all other Western women into a choice between submission to Islam or death. If it comes down to that, I choose death -- preferably, theirs.
Of course, such blather from them will only encourage the dhimmis to plead for more "understanding" of Islam and blame the West for "alienating" Muslims in the wake of 9/11. For any Muslim women (or men) who have become even more insular and submissive to Islam and the Ummah since 19 of their "brothers" murdered nearly 3,000 of my fellow Americans, I have two words.
Bite.
Me.
