In response to Pasto's post where it is mentioned re England leading the way in Sharia Law I have posted the answer that I received from the PM's office to a petition that I signed against Sharia Law. The answer arrived last week, my bolding:
Shari’a law is the code of personal religious law governing the conduct of Muslims. It can extend into all aspects of people’s lives – personal, religious, family, civil and criminal.
Shari’a law is not part of the law of England and Wales, and the Government does not intend to change this position. However, provided an activity prescribed by Shari’a law does not contravene the law of England and Wales, there is nothing to prevent people living by Shari’a law if they choose to do so. Muslims can, for example, wear traditional dress, and follow certain dietary rules; and they are, of course, completely free to worship in the way that they want.
There are a number of Shari’a councils in England and Wales. The Islamic community prefers to refer to them as ‘councils’ as they are not courts, have no judicial function, and do not deal with any criminal matters. On a private basis and where the parties consent, these councils deal with mediation and resolution of personal and contractual disputes. These councils are not part of the court system, although parties may find them useful in resolving litigation, as may be done with arbitration by regulatory bodies (such as ABTA). A Shari’a council could constitute an arbitration body if it is a tribunal that complies with the Arbitration Act 1996 (for example, that parties have given written consent to the Shari’a council to arbitrate.)
The decisions of Shari’a councils may be enforceable through the courts by virtue of the Arbitration Act. This provides that, where both parties agree to arbitration, the decisions of the Shari’a council will be enforceable if the requirements of the Arbitration Act are satisfied. However, council decisions may be challenged or refused enforcement in the same way and on the same grounds as any other domestic arbitration process so, if any decision by these councils were illegal or contrary to public policy, it would not be enforceable.
As the Jews and others also have their own arbitration processes for resolving disputes I see nothing to fear from this provided that this is where it stops.

The man is naiive. Apparently, he heasn't opened the Telegraph and read of how these "councils" settle financial disputes between men and women by giving women half of that of men. And, apparently, he isn't aware that such decisions have, on occasion, been backed up by the British court system.
apparently, he is not aware that there are thousands of young women in England who have been genitally mutilated. Of course, that isn't by decree of the councils, but it is part of the Muslim idea of Sharia. (Note I did not say it is Sharia, but that it is part of the Muslim IDEA of Sharia).
Apparently, this man does not know about Honor Killings. He doesn't know about multiple wives. He doesn't know that men who have multiple wives, and who are on the dole, are getting benefits for all of those wives and children. The British system is approving of Sharia in that sense as well.
Creeping Sharia is proving that this man who wrote you this letter is a creep himself.
Pasto, this is from the government, and ultimatelyb Gordon Brown must endorse it; it is official.
Multiple wives, genital mutilations are nothing to do with this. They need to be dealt with now, and firmly - but they wont be.
I said "I see nothing to fear from this provided that this is where it stops." but we all know that the Musl8ims will push and push for more.
The e-mail was as a result of thousands of people objecting to the implementation of sharia law in the UK. Anyone can set up a petition on the government number 10 website. They are bound to respond, that was their reponse. Just thought you might like to know that.
Well, that's great then. The Left hand denies knowing what the right hand is doing.
I think it's great that people set up the petition, let the government know how they feel, and force a statement. But, you know how many statements we see.
The truth is, the news isn't all bleak. All the real opposition Muslims get comes via the government in the form of the police, the intelligence services, and the armed forces. So, clearly, the government is, in that sense, willing to fight.
But, at the same time, we know that they are filling the forces with Muslims, consulting with Muslims, ignoring huge problems with creeping Sharia, etc. and the average citizen is left to deal with it, by doing what? Crawling in a hole? Pretty much. Because the only other answer would be to take the law into our own hands, and that isn't going to work
at this point.
The same government who sent you this email is the same government who knows about FGM, about forced marriages, about the abuses of the Sharia councils, about hundreds of thousands of Muslims on the terror watch list, etc.
They know, Ray. They know.
As I said, the Left hand denies knowing what the right hand is doing, but it's clear it's bullshit.
We have the same problem over here.
Literally, a few blocks down from Disneyland, we have a big, big neighborhood which is essentially Saudi Arabia.
We also have neighborhoods like that in Garden Grove, and a more upscale version of it in Irvine, CA clustered around the UCI campus.
The county I live in produced Adam Gadahn. I have met the Imam from Gadahn's Mosque. I have prayed with the man at City Council meetings.
America is living the same lie the British government is living.
You take my criticism of Britain, and do not heed my criticism of the United States. You think I'm being unfair, but I do not believe I am.
Also, I don't know if you know this, but my mother, father and sister live in the UK. And, that explains why I have an interest in what goes on there.
In fact, the 7/7 bombings could easily have effected my sister, because she takes the Tube.
Mind the gap.
I know, Pasto, I know. We are all infidels here. The differences between the UK on this are that in the UK it is national and as such is magnified/spotlighted by the media.
The US problem with them is on a state level. Some states are dhimmified, others are not. It's easier for them to get things in under the fence and I believe your media is not so keen to report on Muslim things as ours.
Terrorist training camps in the US can you believe? Why else would they use school buses as target practice. For god's sake sort it out - no not you Pasto, just someone.
Ray Boyd,
What is really shocking about this, is that they are accepting any Sharia at all, on British soil. Sharia needs to be denounced as the barbarism it is. Its bad enough that countries like Saudi Arabia are governed by it, the UK or any other free nation has no business allowing even part of it into their legal code. Sharia denies freedom of religion, equality of the sexes, advocates killing homosexuals, and rejects freedom of conscious, among other things.
Ray Boyd, maybe you could send a copy of this to the Prime Minister.
Damien: I agree that we want nothing to do with Sharia but this is about arbitration in domestic disputes not slavery or beheading or lashings FFS
Ray Boyd,
But accepting even part of Sharia makes it harder to reject other parts of Sharia. why even allow it to be used for arbitration in domestic disputes? Have you heard of the old camel's nose in the tent story? Its an old Arab proverb, and its a good analogy to what The cultural jihadists are trying to do. Their goal is to destroy western culture and our system of laws and replace Sharia incrementally. Why allow any sharia in the west at all? Once it becomes uncontroversial to use Sharia in this manner, Muslims fundamentalists will start demanding it be accepted in other areas.
I want to address this speech specifically to the Somalian people and the Sharia Law Council:
In regards to the 8 year old boy who stool bread, crushing his arms didn't do any benefit for our society. The young boy can't have any use of his hands. What is the point in showing a lesson to the young boy and all the others who ever thought or was going to steal bread, when the boy was shown to the world as a cripled? He can't help soil the ground, plant seeds, or do the hard labour needed for the harvest season.
Human beings(People) are very important for this Earth, this planet, this world. We help look after the animals, our families, and our environment and other people. Without people, the world will dye of itself, having fulfilled nothing. The Earth is our responsibility. You criple every boy and girl for stealing bread and not teaching them but punishing them will dimish our race. Our very existance.
One person is very important for the next generation and the next and the next. If we continue cripling our society, we will criple our population, and finally we will criple ourselves. If the saying "It takes a village to raise a child" is true, than why don't you stop taking away man's dignity for dehumanizing the village that will raise that child or the child that will take care of the village?
The village is the Earth, everyone and everything on the Earth.
Let us teach without violence is my humible plea.
