Used to be a Helluva Country

Forget what you think about Ron Paul and the Campaign for Liberty. Watch this clip. A young man carrying cash from the Campaign for Liberty and bumper stickers is detained and questioned. The questioners didn't know he was recording the whole encounter. Threatened him with Police, DEA. FBI because he refused to tell them where the cash came from. We are deep in it, folks, and the muck is starting to suck us down quickly.

So much for that MIAC report being discredited.

I find Ron Paul reprehensible and disgusting and not worthy of an iota of support JUST for his handling of documented contributions from Stormfront, and his thoughts about the John Birch Society...

HOWEVER...

What happened on that recording shows why, PRECISELY WHY, the government seeking more authority IS A BAD THING, 100% of the time.

Whoever this morally strong, CLEAR HEADED guy is, he is to be applauded for standing up for ME and MY personal rights, and I thank him for the clear calm way he EXPOSED the naked intimidation of ANY GOVERNMENT.

It's amazing how right were the men who left English authority for something better. It's amazing their understand of human nature and how we behave with power in our hands.

Epa - I agree about Ron Paul for all the reasons you mention and more.

But I also put the post up for all the reasons you mention. If it can happen to one, it can happen to anyone.

What is truly amazing to me about this story is $4,700 is just not that much money.

This sounds like a scene from Reno 911. These cops were tremendous idiots, and the FBI guy was clearly possessed of more intelligence than they.

There is a law in this country that all cash transactions in excess of $10K must be looked at by the government, but this was not such a case.

It is interesting to note that this happened in Missouri, the same state which expressed concern about the militia members being supporters of Liberty. It could be that these idiot cops were following up on that "protocol", or it could be they were simply idiots. It is more likely they following what they believed to be their directives.

And, that is fucking pathetic.

Personally, if this happened to me, I would be very angry. And, I would become convinced that I no longer live in America. That's my gut reaction to this story.

I have to wonder if my gut reaction is the correct one.

Yeah, that this guy kept his cool as long as he did is amazing, except he knew he was recording it and didn't want to come off the belligerent. I would have blown my cool.

And this is just the beginning.

I'd like to interview these cops on my radio show. I'd love to know what they're thinking.

I haven't had a chance to listen to it again since last night. I don't know if they were cops or airport rent-a-cops/security.
