Napolitano stands by 'extremism' report
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report sent to law enforcement that lists veterans as a terrorist risk to the U.S. and defines "rightwing extremism" as including groups opposed to abortion and immigration.
The outcry resulted in a demand from the head of the American Legion to meet with Ms. Napolitano, a request the DHS chief said she would honor next week when she returns to Washington from her current tour of the U.S.-Mexican border.
"The document on right-wing extremism sent last week by this department´s Office of Intelligence and Analysis is one in an ongoing series of assessments to provide situational awareness to state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies on the phenomenon and trends of violent radicalization in the United States," Ms. Napolitano said in a statement.
Sure plays a mean pinball.
Those people people ARE dangerous, and a vote does not make them less so, nor give them the arbitrary right to declare others so.
2012 is a long way off, but it's time to prepare.
I am just flabbergasted by the utter avalanche of this crap coming from Washington.
Do any of them read history?
Keep going you morons.

But we're Benevolent Right Wing drunkards lunatics and freaks.
Folks always forget how benevolent we really are. Why, our Benevlonce is absolutely munificent and magnificent.
Geez.
Uncle Barry wants us all to be munificent with those less fortunate than our maginificent right wing selves.
Is it 5 o'clock where you are MR?
Ro
Yup, just now. Ya think I maybe need a drink? :)
Epa said, maybe anyone 1 mm to the right of anyone in this admin is to be regarded as dangerous and potentially violent.
Okay. I'm a bit out of the loop. My online and news-reading time has been quite limited (hit-or-miss) because last week at this house was the week from hell:
1. computer crash - big time
2. funeral to attend - of my educational mentor and friend
3. home burglary
So, do I have this right?
The BHO is administration is going to hunt down dissenters and label all as dangerous?
What are they doing to do to us?
And WTH is happening to America?
AoW == 3. Home Burglary -- !everyone ok?
The crux of this is a (poorly written) report from DHS disclosed on Monday labeling all types of folks as potential right wing extremists that law enforcement needs to keep an eye on. And, of course, by the definitions set forth in the report, most of us at IBA fit the bill. Some (ahem) more than others.
Big hue and cry (as there should be). Napolitano defends the document but said she will still meet with the (REALLY pissed off) head of the American Legion next week.
This document is even more wide reaching than that MIAC report a few weeks ago AND worse, Napolitano said she will not withdraw it.
Bunch of stories throughout here the last couple days but the original document can be found here:

along with a good first post about it from Epa a few posts down.
As for what the hell is happening to America -- it does feel like rope burning through the fingers right now, doesn't it?
People at the Tea Party in Boston were absolutely incensed at Napolitano and that DHS report, especially the part about returning soldiers being on the "list".
Sorry for your loss, AOW, that's a hard one as I know from experience.
The computer crash and the burglar didn't help matters.
Some (ahem) more than others.I wouldn't hurt a fly. Well actually, if the pesky thing keeps flying around my head, bopping me in my nose.....
Neither would I, Christine, unless they were intent on hrting me or mine. Then all bets are off.
But it would seem the more conservative and outspoken about it you are, at least by this reports standards, the more of a threat you are. I have guns and know how to handle them, belong to a gun club chock full of rednecks, so I am more of a threat than someone like Pasto who (in his own words at another comment in another post) lives in SoCal, surfs and has a brown skinned wife. How he has them bullshitted on this is truly amazing :)
Anyway, you get the idea. The ahem was only slightly joking. By the parameters of that report I'm certainly someone they would like to chat with if they ever round up the usual suspects. As is every regular here.
I'm pretty damned proud of that :)
SoCal, Surfing and an Asian lover sure makes a good cover for my right-wing extremist undercover work.
Right. Exactly. Just ignore the cameras in the lampshades and microphones in the bedknobs.
Oh, and ignore the brown Oxfords poking out of the curtains over there.
