The impossibility of truth ..we don't trust the people anymore

beal1.pngIn Maine, a referendum on the ability of gay marriage to occur (something I believe to be a civil right, but will listen to arguments) has devolved completely into a street brawl between professional lesbian and other gay activists who are trying to make single moms and dads their discriminated partners, against those who fear a curriculum book picked for 1st graders will instill, not acceptance but act as a proponent of gay lifestyle to children who heterosexuals (and I bet MANY, IF NOT MOST TO NEARLY ALL, GAY PEOPLE) would NEVER teach about ANY KIND of sex, or sex lifestyle, and instead seek to keep childhood, CHILDHOOD. First graders want to play, not ponder who is gay or not, and why, and they need to learn NOT GAY LIFESTYLES, alcoholism and other 12 step anathemas which destroy lives, but math, English and science. Life style choices have little place in the lower end of grade school. As little as the Holocaust. THEY ARE YOUNG CHILDREN. And WTF does THAT have to do with the ability of consenting adults to form lifelong legal partnerships?

Is this a successful distraction, or a real issue regarding a book with a dangerous and obnoxious principle behind it? Is this the border security all over again? If you want a secure border you must be a racist since you " can't " believe in immigration if you want a secure border (excuse me while I scream)?

With both Maine's republican senators perceived to be up for grabs, every 3rd commercial on TV is urging you to call Collins and or Snowe on both sides. It's utter confusion and unless you are better than me, I can't even figure out what they are really trying to say, just that they are hawking for their side. The Chamber of Commerce is claiming all five bills are a tax. White coated freaks shill the public option as the only real way to have 'choice'. Both sides claim real reform will help the economy and jobs (RUKIDDINGME?). Neither side has MENTIONED a real unrestricted cross state free market of private insurance (compare to what happened with cell phone plans anyone?), tort reform IN ANY WAY, or if any of the plans which mandate insurance, and then fines, taxes and jail are even constitutional. None of them actually analyze cost on a single issue.

I have yet to see a single commercial which is revelatory of real truth or increasing the number of facts which help, on both sides.

What is clear is that in any political dispute neither side trusts the public with the truth, and instead is so fixated on spin, talking points and winning an argument for the 'good' that it is all the ends justify the means. This is true from the socialist obnoxious and dangerous self identified left to the freakishly bible justifying 'religious' right.

Does the public see thru this fog?

In the admin we have the people who hate Fox so unrestricted in their desire to deligitmize criticism, that when they show up (Ms Dunn) praising Mao as one their favorite philosophers there is little shock. Yet on the right we have claims of Cloward Piven being the "PLAN" in the admin by the real movers.

Both sides despise those trying to see reason as spineless cowards.

This is true even when PARTISANS of either side attempt to reason, let alone people actually in the middle.

More than ever this nation (and the world) is more and more exposed to decision based on manipulation of perception as a science. One might have imagined that as media became tighter and tighter to instant reality as compared to say the way a news article was written in 1862, reality was better and better reflected by the public mind.

danger_will_robinson.pngBut it hasn't really helped. I don't think it ever will.

And in the end it will be as it was when a gay lover's murder gone awry in plans by the Spartan king to weaken his biggest enemy resulted 'accidently' in the first democracy - in Athens and thus in the defeat of Persia a few years later

Philosophy matters more than fact. Those prepared to act on their philosophy .. boldly .. will create.

That means a minority. One that never cares about fact.

And so back to the book for the first graders.

Danger Will Robinson.
