When The Going Gets Weird ...

Calling attention to our new masthead, and to an amazing piece of acting from Marlon Brando ...

hoping the two have nothing to do with each other ...

Spectacular Pastorius, everyday I am in more awe of both you and MR, on a cultural level, as well as politics...

Plus, I get to practise my budding Italian in the subtitles, so when I go to Rome next year I communicate with the hotel, airport and Vatican staff, LOL....ok, ok, yes I am a dog, I want to be able to talk to a Del Basso look alike, :)))

I've heard virtually this speech from someone, alone, in a room, just the two of us. He used it to justify his participation in the random victimization of American children, women, and familiies. Yes, and he had a lot of crap like "The Golden Bough" to back it up. Well, guess what. It was bullshit there and it's bullshit here.

Never make friends with the horror. Understand the need to destroy those who commit the horror. Don't initiate it. Don't cut the arms off little kids because they do. Understand that if they hide behind the kids the only way to destroy them may destroy the kids as well, because the alternative it to let the evil use the good as a hostage. But never, ever, make their "horrors" your friends and use that as an excuse.

"No more horrors," he said, over and over. And then went out and did them again. I wouldn't cross the street to spit on his grave.

RRA,
You know, I just read Heart of Darkness last year. I was amazed at how faithful Coppola, and Brando, were to the original text.

Carlos,
MR and I are two of the last people anyone would suspect of having "culture" ...

except you.
