Demonstration in Stoke on 23 January 2010
The latest English Defence League (EDL) demonstration against sharia and Islamic extremism is currently taking place in Stoke. This follows their successful campaign against Islam4UK which now, thanks to their unwavering and courageous efforts, is a banned organisation within the United Kingdom. This banning appears to have been undertaken very reluctantly by the British Government, a Government that tolerated this threat to British security for far too long. Without the pressure from the EDL it might never have happened.
Today, a British Sikh comes to the EDL speaker’s podium. Ethnic minorities are now playing an active an committed part in EDL activities and will hopefully be an integral part of the future EDL leadership. EDL has always reached out to the broad ethnic variety that now comprises modern Britain, despite the smears that have come from the direction of the political establishment and so-called anti fascist organisations. Sikh patriots have now come forward and soon other components of modern Britain will come forward to defend the land against tyranny and oppression.
The English Defence League has demonstrated clearly how it wants to engage with all groups in society in its opposition to the corrosive and divisive issue of sharia. There are many commentators that cry fascist when it comes to the EDL.The counter jihad movement in Britain that is now operating under the umbrella of the EDL and has made its multicultural credentials clear for all to see. The EDL will be working tirelessly to engage with other groups from a variety of ethnic backgrounds from across England and beyond. The EDL is in the process of uniting a new England comprising of people who originate from across the world. The values of this new Englishness are a pride in being English and embracing the best of English culture, being patriotic and loyal to the country and demonstrating a willingness to come together with others to demonstrate brotherhood and unity. England has always been a haven for people who want to be English, whatever their ethnic background, but it has never been a haven for tyranny and despotic systems. The country has a long and proud history of standing up to oppression of which sharia is the latest manifestation.
By the way, one of the major criticisms of the EDL is that they were founded and based upon the efforts of "football hooligans", which are, in general, white gangs with shaved heads who appear to be the equivalent of American neo-Nazis. Appear is the pivotal word.

Islam is not a race. It is a pestilent religio-political system. Take Jihad and Sharia out of Islam, and it's all good to me. Question is, can Muslims live with the idea of not murdering people for being gay, apostate, or adulterous? Can Muslims live with the idea of equal right for women? Can Muslims live without the idea that "Infidels" are inferior and deserving of second-class citizen status?
Thus far, Muslims have not demonstrated any willingness to stand up against these insane strictures in their system.
The EDL does stand up against them.
As I wrote above, thank God someone is stepping up and doing the job.
UPDATE: Islam4UK membership to be punished by 10 years in prison.
"Football hooligans" have to take up leadership when weak, pathetic dhimmis give up their responsibility to the electorate.

FIFTEEN people were arrested and four police officers injured after a demonstration by the English Defence League turned violent in the Midlands yesterday.
Up to 300 protestors from the right-wing group had running battles with police in Hanley city centre, Stoke-on-Trent, after gathering for the rally against Muslim extremism.
Around 100 officers armed with riot gear had tried to keep the chanting crowd in one section, but they eventually broke through.
EDL members then raced through the back streets of the city centre singing the national anthem and Rule Britannia, as well as shouting insults against Allah and Islam.

Now the ostensible aims of the EDL when it was founded were singular - to oppose Islamic radicals on the streets of Britain.
A laudable aim and one undertaken in response to the dreadful taunts made at British troops in Luton in 2009 by mobs of Islamists.

This is not the first time that these people have protested outside the TA barracks in Cobridge. It as a very regular occurence and when myself and my children walked past on many occasions on the way from school I would be given leaflets by these extremists suggesting that all british women were prostitutes and should be flogged in public. Does this inclue the muslim women who have become british citizens? We eventually became so intimidated by these extremists that we dare not walk past them. How is this allowed to continue?

Choudary was planning a demo at Whooton Basset, but it never happened.
What my post points out is the EDL have not directly confronted the islamists on the streets
The Islamist have been staging regular demos outside the army barracks at Cobridge, Stoke, but the EDL have not organized counter protests. Instead they had a demo in the center of Stoke, not far from the pubs and bars.
I doubt that is because they are afraid of the Muslims. I think they are doing the politically wise thing by avoiding physical confrontation.

I firmly believe that the EDL is just a quango set up by Lab/Lib/Con so as to divert the discontent that is mounting in Britain against Islam and muslims. Also to underscore the BNP
