MANCHESTER, UK: POWDER SPARKS AIRPORT ALERT

UPDATED

I commented earlier that these airport incidents seem to be happening daily now. I think I'm wrong. They now seem to be happening more than once daily.

After awhile, we won't think anything of a Muslim acting strangely on a flight, carrying freeze-dried powder, etc.

The police say the man was carrying a freeze-dried chemical "for a friend", but that he is helping with the inquiry.

Bullshit.

Watch this turn out to be nothing. It's an incident designed to weaken our resolve.

From the Sun:

Evacuated ... Manchester Airport

COPS evacuated an airport terminal and declared a chemical incident after a man tried to carry an unidentified white powder on to a plane.

The substance was discovered in the hand luggage of an Asian man, believed to be in his 20s, at Manchester Airport this afternoon.

The check-in and security screening areas at the airport's Terminal 3 were evacuated as a precaution. The rest of the airport remains open.

Chemical

Police said the man has not been arrested and is currently helping with inquiries while tests are conducted on the powder.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "Shortly before 12.55pm police at Manchester Airport were called by security staff who had discovered a non-identified white powder in a bag which a man was attempting to carry on to a plane.

"Officers attended along with the fire service and they declared it a chemical incident. Tests are currently on-going to establish what the powder is.

"The check-in desk at Terminal 3 has been cordoned off and a man in his 20s is helping police with their inquiries at the airport."

Flights departing Terminal 3 were facing delays but arrivals and those leaving other terminals were not affected, the airport said.

A police source said the incident was not believed to be terror-related.

The passenger was trying to board flight BD589 to Heathrow, which was due to depart at 1.55pm.

It is understood he told airport staff that he was carrying a "freeze-dried compound" on behalf of a friend.

The departure area of Terminal 3 was closed after a man tried to carry the unidentified powder on to an aircraft.

The man was planning to fly from Manchester to London.

The man has not been arrested, but is helping with inquiries, said police. A police source said the incident was not believed to be terror-related.

Tests are being conducted on the powder.

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman said: "Shortly before 1255 GMT police at Manchester Airport were called by security staff from the check-in desk at Terminal 3, who had discovered a non-identified white powder in a bag which a man was attempting to carry on to a plane.

UPDATE: I told you this would turn out to be nothing.

Now the authorities will know they don't have to worry much about Muslims carrying unidentified chemicals onto aircraft for friends.

They can chase down Nigerian Christians instead
