Why is it, when anyone criticizes Palin, or warns that she cannot win against BO, ... they are called names and attacked?

The idolatry that some show for this woman borders on pathology and it's disturbing to those Independents, such as myself, that really want to vote Republican in 2012 and hope the party gets it right and nominates a serious, competent, experienced candidate that can pull in the Independent votes they'll absolutely need to win.

I'm sorry, Rose, did something I say offend you?

Personally I don't know that I want Palin to run in 2012 though I am a fan. I think she's causing them enough ulcers doing just what she's doing.

No, y'all don't seem to mind my saying she is not going to win over BO, but other conservative sites go rabid if you say anything against her, and I can't understand why is it verboten to criticize her?

I actually try not to comment on stories of her here, as I've already expressed my dislike for her as a political figure.

I do agree, however, that she makes a good pit bull for the Republican Party. I think that was a good call on your part.

No, I find you guys pretty tolerant. And I find your arguments pretty civil as well. But that is not the case on any other conservative site where I have ever expressed my views on Palin. And it just makes me wonder why people defend her so fiercely as to alienate potential Republican voters?

Mighty .. IMHO - it's because regardless of her educational back ground, or experience set, she hits the heart of every issue conservative voters care about, AND YET as executive did not force anyone to hew to those ideas when they went against law (abortion etc).

In many ways that makes her in practice, especially considering the way she connects (I've seen her) a relatively perfect candidate.

What reduces that in others eyes is what pisses off 'the people' .. that having been educated to get a job and lead a life, instead of being a pundit who read the Nation and the National Review in the bathroom every day, and had time to do so, it ELIMINATES her from so called serious contention. It's saying to the average person, YOU ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH ..because SHE is US

This feeling is especially harmful when she says things that bear this dichotomy out (such as her recent horrendous comments about Hamid Karzai).

Thus the conservatives get so pissed because some the arguments hit home on an otherwise 'perfect' bullet.

Frankly I find this attitude somewhat elitist, but it may not be totally incorrect.

There is no way to know. FDR was no genius that way. WHEN Churchill first met him...1917 .. ht thought he was a brainless lightweight (and an assistant Secretary of the Navy at the time)

Leading is not (IMHO) intelligence. It is APTITUDE. J Carter is a brilliant moron. So was Wilson.

That's what makes this hard.

I have no idea what kind of prez she would make, but her chances have been greatly diminished by the amateur in office now. But we are talking about ability to get elected, and that is a very different thing from being a good prez, as is obvious.
