"God of Carnage" Postponed by Car Bomb in Times' Square. May Day. May Day.

I'm asking, "What's my motivation?"

A failed car bomb shut down Times Square on Saturday night, causing panic, evacuations and confusion on one of the tourist spot's busiest and most crowded nights.

IDK I'm not rushing to "Sudden Jihad Syndrome" on this one, given the May 1 date. I'm leaning toward thinking it's leftists. Violence & mayhem is their m.o.

It was, during the 70s, a rule of thumb that indiscriminate bombing was a tactic of the fascist "Right," while a targeted bombing of a known enemy was a tactic of the Left. The reasoning behind such is that the "Right" hates "The People" and doesn't care who is killed; and the Left is working in the interests of The People and attempts to destroy centres of power, i.e. corporations, military centres, and so on. Such reasoning would make McVeigh a leftist and whoever did this a rightist.

My feeling is whoever did this is an asshole. It looks like a copy of the Glasgow airport bombing. But it could be anyone's faction, indeed.

What I find interesting is the reactions, the police saying it's not terrorism; the idiots at the CBC claiming it's all American government propaganda, (as if Bush is still in charge and no one told them to think up a new story); and the people on the street in Times Square who think it's theatre.

I doesn't matter who or what, the facts are that amateurish or not, some pro was just informed/reminded that a vehicle like this can be SIMPLY delivered to a spot so as to inflict MAXIMUM damage to persons nearby, in the THOUSANDS OR MORE. Times square is not the only such place in NYC and and NYC is not the only city.

And the next one WILL be loaded with nails, and ball bearings around shaped charges.

And it won't smoke because the detonators used will be military grade warsaw pact materials, and the fault and the questions will still be ....

HOW DID THEY PLAN, AND EXECUTE AND DELIVER THE EXPLOSIVES AND VEHCILE?

But of course, how could they fail if they have enough knowledge of explosives?

We are STILL doing little to nothing as the defense dept STONEWALLS Lieberman and Collins' subpoenas of Hasan's emails with Awlaki. Among other indicative problems.

what we might like to consider is that there will always be another attack, successful or not, and it will be, as usual, against ordinary civilians minding their own business, like those thousands last evening strolling round Times Sq.

Those who are in no danger from jihadis are we who go out of our ways to post Mohammed cartoons. Jihadis don't give a shit about cartoons of Mohammed; they care about any excuse will do to attack civilians.

Just for that, I'm going to paint the most famous of Mohammed cartoons imaginable. Will jihadis behead me again? Will I care? Chances are excellent that jihadis will attack a group of school girls in Indonesia or school kids in Russia, or school kids in Israel, or disco-kids in Bali or London, or commuters in London or Madrid, or anyone anywhere just because. There's no reason to think jihadis will ever attack a cartoonist for making cartoons. They kill at random because their world is falling apart and they're mad about it and want to take it out on anyone around them.

Watch for it: I'm going to make the best Motoons in art history. And when I do die, after the nurse at the old folks home lets me lick the pudding off -- wait a minute-- I mean... whatever.... When I die, thousands of Motoonists will take my place and keep on tooning Mohammed forever.

Hi.
acoording to Mayor bloomberg there wasnobody running away.
But in his statement a single phrase struck me"It was made with consumer firework that you might buy in Pensilvania and drive in to New york".
Sounds like they are not looking for Islamic militants.
And all this now that Obama says to stop criticising him?
It wouldn't surprise me if the tea party will be pointed with the finger.
