Semi-dry run at Pakistan airport?

AFP reports on the arrest today of one Faiz Mohammad, age 30, at Karachi Airport. Mr. Mohammad, allegedly a resident of the northwest of Pakistan, attempted to pass through security with four batteries and a electrical circuit board with an on/off switch, both hidden in his shoes. He was scheduled to board a Thai Airways flight to Muscat (Oman). No explosives were found.

OT:
Russian pilots no longer needed in Iran
Quote:
"The Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, cast no aspersions on Russian pilots or Soviet-built aircraft when, setting a two-month deadline, he announced in March that all Russian pilots would be laid off. The reason he gave was that Iran had an adequate number of its own qualified pilots that it wanted to give employment."
