Notice the suspect has visible receding hairline, and at 0:28 Suspect has a fairly large bald spot visible, then at :36 note five US flags waving on street vendors sweatshirt rack.

ABC video may be slightly clearer. . .@0:20 baldspot practically glows.

As for the characterization "white male in his 40s" . . .that's a guess. He is obviously not dark skinned but there is no way to tell if he is hispanic (potentially related to anti-illegal-immigration protests held earlier that day), or a clean shaven muslim/muslim sympathizer . . .either of which would find the flag offensive. The images are too vague to conclude "White". Such a characterization wreaks of Napolitano/Obama's wishful thinking or worse - intentional msm archiving for future misleading linkage hoping this male was associated with the tea-party movement.

Bloomberg:
"The mayor, however, cautioned that the man caught on video removing his jumper may not become a suspect. "There are millions of people that come through Times Square," he said. "This person happened to be in a position which a camera got a good shot of him, and maybe he had something to do with it but there's a very good chance that he did not. We're exploring a lot of leads.""
