British rocker Elvis Costello has called off planned gigs in Israel, citing what he called the "intimidation" and "humiliation" of Palestinians.

This concert JUST happened 5/22/10. It was their first gig there since 1999.
Metallica fans had originally boycotted the show because tickets were selling at $150 U.S. and up. But an agreement of some sort was arranged with the promoter.
Wish we could get that to work here.

Oh, btw, Paul McCartney, who though his life was threatened, still appeared in Israel, will be honored tomorrow at the White House, receiving the third Gershwin Prize, and EC will be performing in the show which will shown on PBS stations on July 28.
EC apparently has no problem playing for BO though as I mentioned in an earlier post, he took every chance he got to lambast Bush for being a war monger! I guess EC can turn on/off his political "conscience" and "instinct" at will and personal convenience.
