My nominee for Gonzo Conspiracy Plot Theory of the Week has turned up in the comments at BNI: 7,000 Marines under command of the Coast Guard have been sent to Costa Rica because the Deepwater Horizon leak has destabilized a big earthquake fault in the Caribbean and We're All Gonna Die.
The more levelheaded conspiracy theorists just think the Marines are there to out Ortega from Nicaragua.
The Coast Guard says they're there to fight drug trafficking.
The Costa Rica opposition party doesn't care why, it just wants them to leave.
Meanwhile we had flash floods in the Greater Boston Area from a sudden downpour and they are still fishing soggy SUV's out from under overpasses. Now that's a crisis.

Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the pistol have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me? Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he be content just to wound me? If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get away while he was stabbing me? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint & weed day Can we make this a happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. I need to debate this with some friends for a few days and try to come to a consensus. This is all so confusing!

"Last night I was so depressed, I called a suicide hotline. I got a call center in Pakistan, but when I told them I was suicidal, they got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck!" :)
Dear anonymous -- you have some facts confused. It is highly unlikely a Democrat would be carrying so fine an item as a Kimber. As for myself, it would be a Smith and Wesson model 19 .357 mag pretty much one shot is all you need (why waste so precious a commodity as lead?)

Rose -- the bulls were in a fesity weird mood. Did not want to return to the pen after their run. Bucking pretty good, too. Only 6 or 7 rides of the 40+ made the full 8 seconds.
Tevya has long been one of my heros. A true role model.
RRA -- we had some pretty good rain, finally. Broke the back of the ehat wave although no flooding. In Philly, though, 2 days ago a city sludge barge slammed into a sightseeing duck boat killing 2 Hungarian students who were here to learn a bit about our culture.
That was awful about the duck boat. We have a whole fleet of them but they stick to the Charles River where they're not likely to run into anything bigger than they are.

The TSA detained and refused to allow an 85 yr old great grandmother with knitting needles to board a flight from Miami to New York.
They were afraid she was going to make an Afghan. . .
