Mediaite reports that CNN has fired senior editor of Middle East affairs Octavia Nasr. As Daniel Halper pointed out the other day, Nasr wrote on Twitter on July 4 that she was "sad" to hear of the death of Hezbollah's Sayyed Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah--a man for whom she has "respect." Fadlallah had justified suicide bombings, is believed to be responsible for the Marine barracks bombing, and had said that "Zionism has inflated the number of victims in this Holocaust beyond imagination."

In a followup blog post last night, Nasr wrote that it "was an error of judgment for me to write such a simplistic comment and I'm sorry because it conveyed that I supported Fadlallah's life's work. That's not the case at all."

She explained that she knew about all the wicked aspects of Fadlallah's life--saying she even "lost family members" in the barracks bombing--and was simply referring to the fact that she respected Fadlallah for his opposition to "honor" killings and beating women. But saying you respect Fadlallah for opposing murdering and beating (Muslim) women is almost like saying you respect Osama bin Laden for building day care centers.

CNN doesn't think Nasr's apology makes up for what she said. "We believe that her credibility in her position as senior editor for Middle Eastern affairs has been compromised going forward," Nasr's CNN superior Parisa Khosravi said in a statement.

Obama has a position for her.

Pastorius,

Good for CNN. I support allowing workers to have their own opinions, but her's are ridiculous and un-American. Poor judgment on her part. By the way, I hope for Obama's sake that he doesn't have a position for her. He'll just decrease his chances of getting elected again, one more time.

I'm shocked!

CNN just now didn't allow one of my posts to the discussion on PM Netanyahu's interview with Larry King. They do that sort of crap all the time, decide what they are going to post and not post, regardless of how benign the post is. In this case, the post was telling some Canadian guy what a great second-class citizen he will soon make as Moooslims continue to infiltrate and colonize Canada.

CNN does not believe the Western world is at war with Islam. You cannot say anything negative about Islam on their boards?

So, frankly, I'm shocked that they fired her!!! It's got to be a ruse.

Wow, now CNN is allowing someone else to post under the name Rose, and they're not my posts! They refused anything but my very first post! But now someone else is posting as Rose? That ain't right!

Perhaps Pastorius!

I was so furious, I kept writing them last night. Finally went to bed, today I get up and see that they omitted all posts that had the name Rose on it! Now there are only other comments directed at Rose. I'm okay with that. I'd rather they pull all posts than allow someone to post under my name saying things that I would never say. Was I pissed!
