“Being an American is not a matter of blood or birth, it’s a matter of faith,” President Obama declared at a speech he gave on immigration. What Obama says here doesn't even make sense. The law is, citizenship is by birth. Yes, a person can become a citizen, and the act of becoming a citizen of the United States is, in part, an act of Faith. After all, my wife had to swear an oath of allegiance to the United States.
Obama also blamed “resentment” to new immigrants to poor economic conditions.
“Now, we can’t forget that this process of immigration and eventual inclusion has often been painful. Each new wave of immigrants has generated fear and resentment towards newcomers, particularly in times of economic upheaval,” Obama said.
But, those of us who doubt Obama's Good Faith in the Constitution also have reason to doubt he believes in the legal process to attain citizenship of the United States of America.

Pastorius,
This isn't going to do anything to discredit the birthers. Smooth move Obama.
He's the Confusinator
I think Obama likes the birthers doing what they do. It makes those who oppose him look stupid.
How about this?
“Being a MUSLIM is not a matter of blood or birth, it’s a matter of faith.”
Anyway, that's the first thing that popped into my head.
Yep.
Pastorius,
You're right maybe he does love the birthers. After all they detract people from the real issues about him, that a lot of other people might have a problem with.
Yes, that's what I think.
And, if that is correct, then this statement was a smooth move by Obama, to the extent that the birthers attempt to use it as proof that he is not a citizen.
