FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force investigating explosives found in Manhattan
It looks to me like someone must have been walking, or running, down the street, carrying the C-4, and decided they had to throw them over the fence for some reason. Were they being pursued? If so, it was clearly not by law enforcement.
Handout
Six to eight blocks of the plastic, military-grade explosive, formally known as Composition 4, were found in a black plastic garbage bag just inside Marble Cemetery, on E. Second St. Several blocks of deadly C-4 explosive were found Monday morning in an
East Village cemetery, police sources said.
There were no blasting caps found with the bricks, meaning there was no way to detonate the explosive.
"But it's still C-4, so it's being taken very seriously," a police source said.
Six to eight blocks of the plastic, military-grade explosive, formally known as Composition 4, were found in a black plastic garbage bag just inside Marble Cemetery, on E. Second St., between First and Second Aves.
The discovery was made at 10:50 a.m.
The
NYPD Bomb Squad rushed to the scene, and police closed the area to traffic.

Earlier reports failed to mention that the C-4 was actually found a year ago, when a caretaker dug it up -- it was buried about a foot deep (jihad squirrels?) -- and leaned it against a tree. Yesterday a volunteer cleaner-upper found the bag, took a look inside, put it in a trash can, mentioned it to friends who suggested it might be dangerous, called the cops, and at 10:45 this morning all hell broke loose response-wise.
Don't you just love how our vaunted MSM is not only scrupulously impartial but adept at reporting accurate news on a timely basis?
It's gotten so every time I see a BREAKING NEWS flash on FOX or CNN with a story like this one word crosses my mind: FUBAR.
It's probably just leftover from the weather underground and Ayers.
Nothing to see here
maybe it was just dead and someone buried it..??
Someone buried it for future use.
I may be mistaken, but isn't this a maleable substance, somewhat firmer than silly putty, that is hand formed into the brick shape? If it is this maleable, wouldn't there be easy finger prints to pull from the product?
