USA Today:

NPR ousts CEO Vivian Schiller in wake of video sting

By Douglas Stanglin, USA TODAY

The board for NPR news today removed CEO Vivian Schiller following a video sting by a conservative activist of a top executive, NPR's media correspondent David Folkenflik reports.

The Associated Press reports that she has resigned.

Her departure comes only hours after Ron Schiller, formerly head of fundraising for NPR and not related to Vivian Schiller, resigned after being caught on a secretly taped video calling Tea Party supporters "racist" and saying the news organization would be better off without federal funding.

The controversy as emerged amid an effort by conservative Republicans to cut any federal funding for NPR.

Ron Schiller also issued an apology, saying the statements on the video "are counter to NPR's values and also not reflective of my own beliefs."

Does Ron Schiller expect us to believe that his comments do not reflect his own beliefs? Give us a break, Ron. You said what you said under no duress or compulsion. Of course, your comments reflect your beliefs. LOL!

What Ron's comments do not reflect is what he would say if he knew he was being taped. LOL!

UPDATE (11:31): According to ABC's Jake Tapper, "Aspen Institute says Ron Schiller informed them that 'in light of the controversy' not in best interests of AI to work there". Schiller had been slated to head up a new arts program there. The press release announcing the hire has been taken down, but you can still see a cached version here.
