This shocking figure was disclosed by Italian sociologist Massimo Introvigne, representative of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) on Combating Intolerance and Discrimination against Christians, at the “International Conference on Inter-religious dialogue between Christians, Jews and Muslims,” sponsored the Hungarian presidency of the European Union (EU) in Gödöllo, near Budapest.

Killing someone merely for associating with a particular religion is awful, but that stat sounds like bullshit. I mean it may be that a Christian is killed every five minutes, but there is a world of difference between being killed for or because of your religion and merely being killed for any reason and incidentally belonging to a given religion.
This is not necessarily "persecution of Christians" unless the individual's religious affiliation is the motive for their slaying. Like if the stat is "every 3 minutes a White person is killed in the world," that does not mean a genocide of Whites.
Anon:
No, the figure represents the people actually killed BECAUSE OF their faith, exactly what you have saying afterwards: they are killed BECAUSE OF their religious affiliation.
If you would have read the rest of the link, it says: "The figure does not include the victims of civil wars, or wars between nations, but only the people put to death because they are Christians. That is, because of their faith.
105,000 people a year does not sound like an overestimation considering 2.5 million Christians have been killed in just one country, the Sudan, in the past 25 years.
The killing goes on to this day.
Other countries where Christians are murdered for being Christians,
Nigeria,
Saudi Arabia,
Philippines
Indonesia,
China,
Malaysia
Gaza
Kenya
Iran
Iraq (now that we have "liberated" them)
Afghanistan
I'm sure I'm missing some.
