"Anderson, it doesn’t matter.”
Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s response to Anderson Cooper when he confronted her with evidence that Mitt Romney explicitly said he DOES NOT SUPPORT the abortion plank of the Republican Convention. Schultz had just claimed ROMNEY CREATED IT.
So what does matter if the truth doesn’t?
POWER.
The Party seeks power entirely for its own sake. We are not interested in the good of others; we are interested solely in power. Not wealth or luxury or long life or happiness: only power, pure power. What pure power means you will understand presently. We are different from all the oligarchies of the past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves, were cowards and hypocrites.

I guess the answer is, POWER.
And.....We will do everything in our power to gain and conserve that power in our hands including imprisoning, torturing, and KILLING whoever gets in our way.
We don't do that yet because we can't, but make no mistake about it, we WILL KILL when we can get away with it.
