What exactly happened @ DNC yesterday over God and Jerusalem ?

Unfortunately, anyone who actually watched the three votes over the Democratic Party restoring Jerusalem as officially recognized capital by party (none of which were roll call) in Charlotte (I advise all to do so, and inform themselves personally) cannot help but conclude that not only was there nowhere near the 2/3 majority needed to overturn the original platform, but in fact a majority or close to it (certainly by volume) wanted the change rejected.
It is impossible to know what kind of FREAKS created the two controversial unforced errors in the platform, but reports, and CREDIBLE ONES, from Politico insist the president himself okayed the purposeful omission, then the campaign flipped on that statement.
While we can say (IMHO) no matter which party in is power it would be difficult to turn our backs on Israel, there can be very little doubt that from the left the idea that Israel is the problem is a growing, and ascendant ‘feeling’. This cannot be denied any more than the true desires of the people of Egypt can be ignored. The question (again IMHO) which we must ask ourselves is by what means, if any, can we enlighten, and raise the consciousness of those who foolishly believe that the interests of the USA are best served by loosening or dissolving the friendship with Israel in favor of whatever is on the other side.
Before yesterday, this was a 100% bipartisan issue. No matter what else, this is no longer quite as clear.
THAT is the tragedy here.
Harry Truman, Hubert Humphrey, Henry Jackson, John Kennedy, Bill Clinton, LBJ would never have allowed anything like this to occur. The political stakes here, and consequences in the real world are just too high.

However, also left out of this platform, and NOT ADDRESSES OR RESTORED….here is the previous democratic party platform:

The United States and its Quartet partners should continue to isolate Hamas until it renounces terrorism, recognizes Israel’s right to exist, and abides by past agreements.

Yeah, it's a shame that this pandering to Israel and the religious right was inserted needlessly into the party platform. The party platform should be about what's best for the U.S., not what's best for Israel.

Scott, let's get something straight, there are no set of circumstances under which kowtowing to the Muslim Brotherhood (HAMAS), or acting to HALT Israel's efforts to survive is in American interest, or being SEEN AND THOUGHT to be doing so is in our interest.

You want to say we have no dog in this fight, FINE, but you don't say that and then have an admin which keeps trying to do all it can to stop Israel form doing something which, if successful would help the PEOPLE of the USA IMMENSELY.

Barack Obama is not helping the USA by
1) Losing control of the convention
2) Allowing the delegates to be seen to be BACKING PALESTINIAN INTERESTS, rather than exerting those of the USA
3) Failing to be CONSISTENT with the ideals, and expressions of faith in God of the FOUNDERS

I wish the vote had been a roll call vote and now this entire universe would be talking about just what you wish as fact... the rejection of the support for Israel, and the removal of God from the platform.

Romney would duplicate 1980's election in the polls by the time the leaves turn in Maine.
