A Tale of Two Cities

In Cairo the preface and view of fulfillment of the dreams of so many and the nightmares of a shrinking, and certainly as time passes, ever less vocal and more threatened minority set, open a new era.
Like the democracy Dickens saw unfold via Marat, and Robespierre Egyptians apparently cannot distinguish between their will being made real and a mob.
It is the will of the Egyptians that Morsi, the Ikhwan, the Salafis, the Quran, and and Sharia like constitution permitting the subjugation of women and the owning of humans become their society. But like a mob shrieking for a lynching, Coptics, secularists, and anyone else whose need for individual religious and speech rights is paramount if they are to continue their lives are now lost in a dangerous new society whose mob rule of a majority vote, and the mob will for the word of the Quran is all that needs to be referenced.
Nothing about this society is recognizable to the USA. Make no mistake. Nothing this kind of society will want is anything which will increase the security of the PEOPLE living here in the USA. Quite the opposite.
Then there is the tale of a Washington DC which can no longer work. A re-elected president whose technical turn out the vote among the young and minorities is a case study in division and racialized politics, - now allows him to engage his real purpose.
The President of the United States believes the ideas of the founders are better replaced by the ideas of the progressive movement. That is the nation he loves. Barack Obama has CORRECTLY identified that what is stopping him from putting these ideas into realization is the Republican Party. The idea that a majority of people might oppose this is IRRELEVANT. Like his ally in Egypt, the aim of this president is to do whatever he has to up to the rulings of SCOTUS to PROTECT HIS REVOLUTION. Maybe AROUND SCOTUS, and AROUND Congress. This for the greater good, of course.
Since Barack Obama believes only the progressive movement is correct for the USA he thinks it is better if the republicans shrink away to the party of a permanent minority. He really thinks we are better off in the long run if we go through the catastrophe looming on Jan 1, so long as the Republicans bear the blame and the result is felt in Nov 2014.
What better way to do this than destroy the Republican’s ability (and will?) to resist, while giving oneself the power to spend without referring to Congress at all?
THAT will protect the revolution of Barack Obama.
Except that the immediately felt heritage will be a division so great that the turmoil and disasters which struck the Roman Republic from the Gracchi to the accessions of Marius and Sulla will look TAME. A division built on race, envy and grievance.
Make NO MISTAKE, this election and the failure of any Congress and the leader of the USA to deal with the debt and entitlements and spending, combined with excuses for failure to aid this economy has now brought the USA to an historic moment.
Cairo has seen the replacement of a period of nationalistic dictators with the religious mob seeking fulfillment through subjugation of human will to a religious document, and those few men or one man who decides what it means.
Washington is SEEING the replacement of 223 years of limited govt replaced by the progressive idea of fair sharing, and equal outcome dominated by PERSONALITIES as Rome was with the exchange of the Senate for the dominance of Marius, then Sulla, Crassus, Pompey and finally Caesar.
Their republic could no longer deal with the changes their successful society had wrought. The poor had few rights, could not vote properly, not much land (wealth- then), and had little or poor representation. The Gracchi  brothers took up their cause. The republic could not deal with either the changes NEEDED or the demands being made in a way that preserved the republic itself.
Anything sound familiar?
We are being pitted black against white, have against have not, as if those who can care for themselves are filled necessarily with unpatriotic racist greed, to fulfill the principle that the progressive idea should replace and amend the Constitution in any manner possible - which built the nation.
I cannot imagine a more fertile grounding for revolution and civil war. It may take many years as it did in 133 BC, or 1836 AD for the fruition of the horror brought by the WILL of the American people in this election, but we are certainly on this path.
One day along this path we will realize there is no way back.
Everyone have in their mind’s eye the SEIU, organized and bused in,  in front of the house occupied by one terrified teenager in Connecticut?
We should always be mindful of John Brown’s last words.
One day along this path the issue will “never be purged away but with blood”. That moment will only be identifiable LATER.

The more I think about this past election, the more furious I get at the Republican Party and its leaders. Blind people cannot lead anyone other than to a crash against the first wall they encounter.
Karl Rowe, Cheney, and the rest of those characters should have gone home long ago to count their $ and leave the party to a new leadership. Romney did not need an accountant for a VP. He needed someone able of drawing away from Obama all those tired and disenchanted of the first four years and ready for a turn back to American ideals. Condi Rice or Allen West would have made great VPs, and would have given Romney the presidency. They are true African American, whose ancestors suffered slavery. Not one of Obama's ancestors was a slave or had to sit in the back of the bus or barred from entering regular dressing rooms in department stores like Condi and her mom once did when she was a little girl. She has the stature and the academic and professional background to be a VP and future president. And Allen West would have been a reassuring presence at a time of world turmoil. Instead, we got what the party hierarchy wanted, not what the country needed. The Republican leadership handed Obama a second term, and now they are pulling their hair wondering what happened?! Pathetic!
