Soldiers in residential tower blocks and green open spaces were yesterday pictured installing surface-to-air missiles at six sites across the capital, a show of strength not seen in this country since the Second World War.

With two weeks to go before the start of the London 2012 Olympic Games, it marks a dramatic development in the biggest peacetime security operation the country has ever seen.

SF considering ways to curb plastic water bottles San Francisco, the city that regulated Happy Meal toys and banned plastic grocery bags, has a new target in its health-conscious, eco-friendly crosshairs: plastic water bottles.
City officials are considering an ordinance that would require owners of new and renovated buildings with water fountains to install special bottle-filling taps. The law’s designed to encourage thirsty people to refill containers instead of reaching for another bottle of Evian or Aquafina.
“This is the appropriate next step to make it easier for San Franciscans to get out of the bad habit of using environmentally wasteful plastic water bottles and into the good habit of using reusable water containers,” said MINISTER OF CORRECT THINK President David Chiu, who introduced the legislation in June.

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- The voter registration form arrived in the mail last month with some key information already filled in: Rosie Charlston's name was complete, as was her Seattle address.

Problem is, Rosie was a black lab who died in 1998.

A group called the Voter Participation Center has touted the distribution of some 5 million registration forms in recent weeks, targeting Democratic-leaning voting blocs such as unmarried women, blacks, Latinos and young adults.

But residents and election administrators around the country also have reported a series of bizarre and questionable mailings addressed to animals, dead people, noncitizens and people already registered to vote.

Brenda Charlston wasn't the only person to get documents for her pet: A Virginia man said similar documents arrived for his dead dog, Mozart, while a woman in the state got forms for her cat, Scampers....

How many fraudulent registrations have already seeped in? Who would know? Not Eric Holder, that's for sure.

Romney’s campaign issued a statement Thursday from Bain that said Romney “left Bain Capital in February 1999 to run the Olympics and has had absolutely no involvement with the management or investment activities of the firm or with any of its portfolio companies since the day of his departure. Due to the sudden nature of Mr. Romney’s departure, he remained the sole stockholder for a time while formal ownership was being documented and transferred to the group of partners who took over management of the firm in 1999. Accordingly, Mr. Romney was reported in various capacities on SEC filings during this period.” 

J.W. Verrett, an attorney and assistant professor in economics, also said in an email response to these issues that the original Globe report appeared to “be confused” about the SEC filings. 

He noted they refer to “Bain Capital VI,” which he described as an investment separate from Bain Capital itself. 

“Saying that Governor Romney was the CEO of Bain Capital VI is like saying that I am the CEO of my retirement account … it’s a silly bit of legalese and it doesn’t also mean I am CEO of all the companies in which I invest,” he said in an email.

As has come to be the case with Obama, this is another Goebbels worthy aspirant in a long chain of ways of living for this president.

I had always thought that with Obama an abject failure at nearly every measurable level (he got Osama when he had the chance) this would be Jackson-Adams in taste and style, but Obama and his people are proving that they really are not the same as other politicians. Team Obama Backtracks – Now Says Billions Spent on Green Projects Weren’t Meant to Create Jobs

For years the Obama Administration told us that the billions they were spending on green projects was meant to create permanent clean jobs.

This week they said that the projects were not meant to create jobs.

For the record… 80% of DOE dollars spent on the Department of Energy’s loan guarantee program for clean energy companies went to Obama backers. Nineteen green companieswent belly-up after receiving Obama dollars.

And yet this administration wants you to believe that Mitt Romney is a felon for running a successful business at the same time he was rescuing the Salt Lake City Olympics.
It’s an Obama world.
