(NYP) Those calling for a moment of silence at next week’s Olympics to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the 1972 Munich terrorist massacre of Israeli athlete-hostages have just picked up key support.

First, NBC’s lead Olympics anchor, Bob Costas, said he’ll publicly call out the International Olympics Committee for refusing the request.

And, Costas added, if the IOC fails to allow a moment of silence during next Friday’s opening ceremonies, he’ll hold one instead on NBC’s telecast as the Israeli team enters the arena.

“I intend to note that the IOC denied the request,” he said. “Many people find that denial more than puzzling, but insensitive, [so] here’s a minute of silence right now.”

A deeper research of F&J website shows them to be proud of their accomplishments in: outright opposition to the Patriot Act; encouraging the US government removes wording that connects Islam & Jihad from Terrorism; pressuring immigration officials abandon scrutiny of Muslim males aged 18-40 from Muslim; and Dawah (Muslim evangelism).
F & J were the sponsors of a conference in which they presented a disturbing 16 pagedocument on how to engage non-Muslims in America (Dawa) The last three pages of this document are a road map for Muslim Leaders on the art of dispensing to Americans Taqiyya (deception to further Islam) and Kitman (half truths designed to obscure the true militant nature of Islam).
F&J does all of this under the umbrella of “interfaith outreach”, yet their activism follows the same Anti-American pro-Islamist agenda as the previously mentioned Hamas connected CAIR & ISNA, which is hardly surprising considering  F&J’s leadership is riddled with Muslim Brotherhood operatives.

As the economy moves along in slow motion, President Obama is talking about raising taxes on the wealthy again. This obvious political ploy is an attempt to make the super-wealthy Mitt Romney defend tax cuts for the rich. For his part, Romney has not yet succeeded in convincing voters he has a plan to restart the economy, as a
recent Fox News poll has shown. The mainstream media dutifully does its part to create political theater out of these dynamics rather talk about real issues such as jobs.
All of this obscures or overlooks two important facts that the media don’t cover or policymakers faintly grasp or both. 
The first fact concerns the nature of job creation, which politicians love to talk about even when they don’t understand it. They
typically believe that job creation happens when existing businesses, big and small, hire more people. That seems reasonable, but it’s not quite right. The reality is that almost all new jobs five years from now will be created by companies that don’t exist today. Job growth in America is driven almost entirely by new companies, or what
we typically call “startups.” According to Hudson Institute economist Tim Kane, new companies created 3.5 million jobs in 2005, while 10-year-old companies the same year created 355,000 jobs but lost 422,000.

Governors and mayors hold ribbon-cutting  ceremonies in front of new plants to celebrate 500 new jobs while three other plants close somewhere else and lose 800 jobs. Meanwhile, a new startup down the street no one has heard of is growing at 20 percent and creating new jobs with no ribbons, silver shovels and politicians in hard hats.
The reason this fact is important to grasp is because startups themselves are declining. Based on the best estimates I’ve seen from
Kane’s work, we would have roughly 2 million more jobs each year in America if we were creating new firms at the same rate as in the 1980s. In other words, despite what we tell ourselves, entrepreneurship is declining in America, and job creation is suffering as a result.

Explosion at 'booby-trapped' apartment of lone wolf killer James Holmes, 24, as his mother says 'you've got the right man'

Police today surrounded the apartment of the man suspected of shooting dead at least 12 people and wounding 50 others during a late-night screening of the new Batman movie after he admitted to having explosives stored at his home.

James Holmes, 24, was arrested after entering the mall in Aurora, Colorado dressed in black and wearing a gas mask and bullet-proof vest and opening fire at random.

A San Diego woman, who identified herself as Holmes' mother, said that her gut instinct told her that her son was responsible for what has become the state's worst mass shooting since Columbine.

'You have the right person,' she told ABC. 'I need to call the police... I need to fly out to Colorado.'

Holmes is believed to be a white American with no previous record other than a traffic ticket. . .

He was not any watch list that would have alerted authorities that he was dangerous, officials told NBC.

Police chief Dan Oates said that an apartment block in the north of Aurora had been evacuated as a consequence of the man's claims he had explosives at his home.

Residents told how they heard a small explosion as a police robot entered the 'booby-trapped' apartment.

A law enforcement source told CBSthat police saw what looked like 'buckets of extra ammunition' and some kind of chemical inside his home.

FBI agents and police used a hook and ladder fire truck to reach inside the building, footage from the scene revealed.

They put a camera at the end of 12-foot pole inside the apartment and were watching footage this morning of what the camera saw on a small television screen.

Television video showed an officer in a helmet and vest atop the fire truck boom smashing the window of the third-floor apartment where the 24-year-old lives.

As speculation mounts about the motive behind the mass shooting, one private investigator has said that Holmes may have been part of Occupy Wall Street's most violent faction Occupy Black Bloc.

Bill Warner told how the Batman movie portrays the OWS crowd in a negative vein, leading him to believe that may have been a cause behind gunman's rage.

Holmes opened fire at the showing of The Dark Knight Rises after setting off a smoke bomb.

Limbaugh, Tea Party, & Guns Already Getting Blamed for Colo. Theater Shooting

It did not take very long for opportunists to try and twist the tragedy in Colorado to match their own beliefs.

ABC news has already found someone to place blame on the Tea Party, Brian Ross from Good Morning America:

“There is a Jim Holmes of Aurora, CO, uh Paige, on the Colorado Tea Party site as well, talking about him joining the Tea Party last summer. We don’t know if this is the same Jim Holmes, but it is Jim Holmes of Aurora, Colorado.”

UPDATE: Breitbart is now reporting that the Jim Holmes on the Tea Party site mentioned by ABC News’ Brian Ross, is nowhere near the same age as the shooting suspect.

The James Holmes who was arrested at the Aurora theater was 24 years old and seems to be from Denver, CO, according to a Facebook profile. There are many people with the name “James Holmes” in the area, and the James Homes on the Tea Party website could match a James Homes from Aurora, CO who is in his fifties and therefore does not fit the description of the suspect.

NYC‘s Mayor Bloomberg and CNN’s Piers Morgan have also chosen to use the deadly shootings in Aurora, CO to push their own political agendas.

Bloomberg, a vociferous anti-gun billionaire whose security guards are allowed to own and carry weapons, has already challenged both President Obama and Mitt Romney to make a stand for tougher gun control.

“But maybe it’s time the two people who want to be president of the United States stand up and tell us what they’re going to do about it, because this is obviously a problem across the country.”

Not long after the incident was reported, CNN’s Piers Morgan decided that he would use the tragedy to make his position on guns known.

Morgan’s obvious lack of knowledge about the guns laws in America was pointed out by many on Twitter. Michelle Malkin also tried to teach the Brit some of the positive benefits of gun ownership:

The link in Ms. Malkin’s tweet was tied to a 2007 story about a shooter in a Colorado church. Lives were saved that day because of an armed security guard in the church. She saw the shooter and took decisive action.

Hollywood is also going to wake up and hear about this horrific event and find a way to get their names and faces on it. Actor John Leguizamo gets points for being one of the first celebs to stand up (via Twitter) and demand that all guns be taken away.

At least 12 dead, at least 50 injured in shooting at Colorado movie theater, police say

URGENT: Police and FBI are questioning the suspected gunman in a shooting early Friday at a crowded midnight screening of the new Batman movie, “The Dark Knight Rises,” in Aurora, Colo., that left 12 people dead and at least 50 wounded — the deadliest U.S. shooting since the Ft. Hood massacre in 2009.

The suspect, identified by federal law enforcement officials as James Holmes, 24, is in police custody. KUSA reports that Holmes kicked down an emergency door at the theater, threw in some type of a smoke bomb and began shooting when moviegoers started to run.

Witnesses say they heard a series of explosions and up to 20 gunshots after the scene grew chaotic. About 100 witnesses were taken to a local high school to be questioned by police.

Police, ambulances and emergency crews swarmed on the theater after frantic 911 calls around 12:30 a.m. local time, officials said.

Holmes reportedly fired shots inside the theater and fled to the parking lot and was confronted by police already at the theater for crowd control.

Holmes wore a bulletproof vest, police said, and was carrying a rifle and two handguns. The handguns may have been placed in the theater before the shooting.

FBI spokesman Jason Pack said there's no indication in the investigation so far of any connection to terrorism.

President Obama said he is "shocked and saddened" by the mass shooting and urged the nation to "come together as one American family." He said his administration will do everything it can to support the people of Aurora, Colo. The White House says Obama, who was in Florida at the time of the shooting, was informed of the shooting by Homeland Security Advisor John Brennan.

"As we do when confronted by moments of darkness and challenge, we must now come together as one American family," Obama said in a statement. "All of us must have the people of Aurora in our thoughts and prayers as they confront the loss of family, friends, and neighbors."

James Wilburn was sitting in the second row of theater 9 after midnight when an emergency door opened and a man entered, the Denver Post reports.

"He was dressed in black," Wilburn told the newspaper. "Wearing a flack jacket and a gas mask."

The man was carrying a shotgun and had a rifle strapped to his back, Wilburn said. The gunman then dropped a canister, causing a noxious gas to spew out. He raised the shotgun and repeatedly fired toward the back of the theater.

Wilburn and three friends dove to the floor, hiding behind seats in front of them. The gunman was only five or six feet away, he said.

Once the shotgun was empty, the gunman calmly dropped it to the floor, took the rifle and went on firing. Wilburn heard roughly 30 shots, the Denver Post reports.

Meanwhile, 21-year-old Naya Thompson and her 22-year-old boyfriend Derrick Poage were running for their lives. Thompson said the gas spread and the gunman may have dropped two canisters.

"It was like a tear gas," Thompson told the newspaper. "I was coughing and choking and I couldn't breathe."

Bulgaria suicide bomber confirmed to be Hezbollah member

A senior U.S. official confirmed Israel’s assertions Thursday that the suicide bomber who killed five Israelis in an attack here Wednesday was a member of a Hezbollah cell operating in Bulgaria.

The official said the current U.S. intelligence assessment is that the bomber was “acting under broad guidance” to hit Israeli targets when the opportunity presented itself. That guidance was given to Hezbollah, a Lebanese militant group, by its primary sponsor, Iran, he said.

The attack, the official said, was in retaliation for the assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists by Israeli agents, something that Israel has neither confirmed nor denied.

“This was tit for tat,” said the U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the investigation was still under way.

The bombing comes at a time of heightened tensions over Iran’s nuclear program, which Tehran says is for peaceful purposes but Israel and the West say is a cover for developing weapons.

A senior Israeli official said Thursday that the attack in Burgas was part of an intensive wave of terrorist attacks around the world carried out by two different organizations, the Iranian Quds Force, an elite international operations unit within Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, and Hezbollah.

“They work together when necessary and separately when not necessary,” the official said.

While the Burgas attack fit the modus operandi of Hezbollah, the Israeli official said, it was not clear whether the bomber intended to blow himself up or had suffered what the official called a “work accident,” adding: “We will never know.”

The bomber was carrying a fake Michigan driver’s licence, but there are no indications that he had any connections to the United States, the U.S. official said, adding that there were no details yet about the bomber – his name, age or nationality.

“This looks like he was hanging out for a local target, and when this popped up he jumped on it,” the official said, referring to a tour bus carrying Israeli vacationers outside the airport in Burgas.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at a news conference Thursday in Jerusalem that the attack in Burgas was carried out by “Hezbollah, the long arm of Iran.”

For their part, Iranian officials condemned the attack and all acts of terrorism.

“Terrorism endangers the lives of innocents,” said a spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, Ramin Mehmanparast, according to Iran’s state Arabic-language television channel, Al Alam.

The Bulgarian authorities released a security video Thursday showing the suspect wandering into the arrivals hall at the airport here, for all appearances just another tourist in his plaid shorts, Adidas T-shirt and baseball hat.

But it is his oddly bulky, oversized backpack that, in hindsight, stands out the most. This bag, investigators believe, contained the bomb that the man is suspected of detonating next to a bus outside the airport, killing the five Israeli tourists, a Bulgarian bus driver and himself in a fireball that upended this city on the Black Sea.

The suicide attack, the country’s first, sent police and intelligence officers from Bulgaria, Israel and the United States scrambling to identify the bomber and to look for possible accomplices and convincing evidence that would connect him to Hezbollah or Iran.

Officials here have said they have the man’s fingerprints and his DNA, and are trying to identify a man who was roughly 36 years old, whom they suspect was in the country between four and seven days before the blast.

The Bulgarians are still trying to figure out how the bomber entered the country, how he travelled around the country and where he stayed.

Virginia Muslim leader found dead

Mohammad Mehboob, president of the Virginia Muslim Association and a leader of the Dar Al Noor Islamic Community Center, was found dead in the Occaquan River a day after his family reported him as missing. 

The Fairfax County Police Marine Patrol Unit and Dive Team located the body using their side scan sonar near the Route123 bridge overpass in the Occoquan River. 

Police say this investigation is on going, and that the Medical Examiner will determine the cause of his death. 

Mehboob was a respected leader in the community and was active in interfaith efforts. Many interfaith leaders expressed their shock at his death.

A woman hairdresser has been convicted of planning a terror attack in the Jewish neighbourhood of a city.

Shasta Khan, 38, and her husband, Mohammed Sajid Khan, 33, bought substances and equipment from supermarkets to assemble an improvised explosive device.

Police found a cache of terror-related material after being called to a domestic dispute at the couple’s home in Oldham, Greater Manchester, last July.

Beheading videos, propaganda glorifying Osama bin Laden and bomb-making guides were seized along with peroxide and bleach, used by Shasta Khan in her hairdressing work, which together with electrical equipment were being readied to make a bomb.

A satnav from her Peugeot 305 vehicle showed they had been on multiple trips to Jewish populated areas around Manchester, looking for targets to attack.

A jury at Manchester Crown Court found Shasta Khan guilty of engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism and two counts of possessing information useful for committing or preparing for an act of terrorism. She was cleared of a third count of the latter charge.

Her husband pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism. Both will be sentenced tomorrow.

British-born Muslim Shasta Khan was convicted by a majority ruling of 11-1 on the main charge of preparing for acts of terrorism. She cried in the dock as the verdicts were delivered and then wailed as she was led to the cells.

Opening the case four weeks ago, prosecutor Bobbie Cheema said behind their 'apparent normality of daily life', Sajid Khan, an unemployed car valeter, and his wife planned to carry out 'jihad at home'.

They both became radicalised by material found on the internet such as an al Qaeda magazine called Inspire, the aim of which is to encourage Muslims in the West and this country to carry out holy war or jihad by mounting attacks in their own countries independent of any outside direction or association with any other person.

In response, the pair prepared to carry out a terrorist attack on British soil, with the most likely target being an orthodox Jewish area of Prestwich.

They did not achieve the production of a functioning bomb and did not have the final ability to carry out the attack but they looked at possible locations for an attack, she said.

But Miss Cheema said the 'path from radicalisation to atrocity' was broken perhaps because of 'internal domestic affairs' between the couple.

They met via a Muslim dating website in July 2010 and married soon afterwards but by July of last year the relationship was suffering real problems, the jury heard.

On July 20, a 'serious row' developed and the husband left home to go back to his parents’ house in Bradford, West Yorkshire.

Two days later he returned but there was more trouble between the husband and wife and her family, resulting in him assaulting his father-in-law.

Police were called to the address in Foster Street but as officers dealt with the domestic dispute and with Shasta still upset and worked up, a 'wholly unexpected turn of events occurred', Miss Cheema said.

'A member of her family, one of her brothers, told the police, in Shasta Khan’s presence, ‘We have something that I think might be interesting to you, I think he’s a home-grown terrorist’,' she told the jury.

The wife then took the opportunity to 'spill the beans' and cause 'serious trouble' for her husband - but left out her own involvement in any terror offences.

The jury was told that one of the most significant finds was the contents of a plastic bag from the electrical shop Maplins. Inside were electrical wires, Christmas tree lights, bulbs and a battery.

An article from an al Qaeda magazine entitled Make a bomb in the kitchen of your Mom offered a step-by-step guide, from how to get ingredients without raising suspicion, to building a bomb, incorporating the use of Christmas lights.

In just one or two days a bomb could be made to kill 'at least 10 people' and with more time 'tens of people', the article said.

The jury was told that IED ingredients listed in the guide matched the items found at the defendant’s home.

A CD showing the beheading of British hostage Ken Bigley, murdered in Iraq in 2004, was found at the address. There were also Google searches on how to make explosives from acid and bleach.

Some of the propaganda espoused the 'jihad of individual terrorism', preaching that individuals should carry out their own attacks to 'begin the jihad at home'.

Officers also found a shopping list scribbled on a Post-it note listing items to buy; sandwiched between cheese and noodles was a reminder to buy an alarm clock - a necessary item for making an IED, the court was told.

Other notes carried the words 'SA26 SMG' and '7.62mm x 25mm Tokarev' - references to firearms. Another note listed addresses in the heart of Manchester’s Jewish community.

Shasta Khan told the jury she had no involvement in terrorism or any of her husband’s activities.

But she was found guilty of acquiring substances, equipment and information of use in making explosives and assembling an improvised explosive device between August 10 2010 and July 24 2011.

She was also convicted of two counts of possessing information likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing for an act of terrorism in relation to computer files.

She was cleared of a possession charge in relation to a document named 39 Ways To Serve And Participate In Jihad.

Venture Capitalists Who Backed Obama Talk About The $134 Billion Obama Put At Their Disposal And Using His Administration "Like A Hooker in a Prison Yard"

The Republican National Committee is continuing its counterattack on President Barack Obama, releasing emails and videos to bolster Romney’s recent claims that the White House’s efforts to invest in “green energy” amounted to a form of “crony capitalism.” 

In one email, Steve Westly, an Obama fundraiser whose company received close to a half billion dollars in green energy funds in 2009, cites his ties to senior Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, campaign manager Jim Messina, and secretary of energy Steven Chu. 

“Please forgive the delay on this, but the Administration has asked me to co-host events for Valeria[sic] Jarrett (last Thursday) and Jim Messina and Steven Chu (both of which are tomorrow) so things have been a bit busy on this end,” he wrote to an Obama energy official in an email on March 8, 2010. 

Westly sent the email during his vetting process to sit on the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board, a position he still holds, according to his online bio at the Westly Group.
The appointment was announced about one year after Westly’s companies received the energy funds. [...] 

Another video, unearthed by the RNC — which is seeking to blunt a searing Democratic attack on Republican Mitt Romney’s time at the help of Bain Capital —  offers a sense of how venture capitalists who supported Obama viewed the green money. 

In a video appearance from 2009, venture capitalist Paul Holland — who had given the maximum legal contribution to Obama, and whose companies received over 6 million in government dollars — described his feelings when heard about the billions up for grabs. 

“He came in to do his talk and opened his talk with, ‘I’m Matt Rogers I am the Special Assistant to the Secretary of Energy and I have $134 billion that I have to disperse between now and the end of December,’” Holland told the audience. “So upon hearing that I sent an email to my partners that said Matt Rogers is about to get treated like a hooker dropped into a prison exercise yard.”
