Here is some promising news…
The newly elected Pope Francis, Jorge Mario Bergoglio, is linked to the mysterious ecumenical group Comunione e Liberazione. Bergoglio is an accomplished theologian whodistanced himself from liberation theology early in his career. He is thought to be close to Comunione e Liberazione, a conservative lay movement.

Yes and more promising news is that in Argentina the cronies of the current marxist government have already started spreading rumors that Bergoglio was involved with the dictators in the 70s and early 80s who murdered thousands of Argentines. It seems that the Guardian newspapers is run by the Kirchners since the news coverage on that newspaper has basically repeated these false allegations against the new Pope.

False propaganda against a Pope who has always criticized Cristina (Argentine president) for grabbing power that belongs to the people.

If the cronies of marxists are trying to smear this man, then he must be doing something right.

PS: He was not involved with the dictatorships of 70s and 80s.

This Pope might not be very aware of the Jihad, but he's on the right side.

Well apparently he's not aware of the Jihad at all since the Argentine Muslim community considers him their friend. However, this is one humble guy. He talks about following the Gospel and says that without it we can all be "priests, bishops, popes" but not "disciples of Christ".

That to me shows humility. He is a conservative on social issues but not a political activist. Whatever criticisms he has had for the government of Cristina they have been because of biblical issues.

Anyway, I think he's a good guy. And I think as Pope his main duty is to make sure he follows Christ and sets an example for the Catholics all around the world.

I am not Catholic but I am even impressed by the way he carries himself.

Here's a comment I left on thegatewaypundit:

He's a "conservative" and an honest one at that. Now I put conservative in quotes because a conservative in Argentina is different from a conservative in the US. Argentine conservatives still think the government should provide universal health care and universally free education (that is why our universities are virtually free). With that said however he has been against the current government of Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner from the get go. He spoke out against Cristina who he said was trying to grab power that belonged to the people after Cristina started tightening her grip on our every day lives.

In Argentina there are already rumors flying around to smear the new Pope. All of which are false and all of which are being spread by the cronies of Cristina. Oh and for those who don't know, Cristina is basically Obama on crack. If you think you have it bad in the US, you should come to Argentina for a couple of months and get a glimpse of your future. Anyway, that is to say that any attack by Cristina and her people against the Pope makes me feel like the Vatican picked the right guy.

He spent his whole life caring for the poor. Took the bus (that I don't even like taking) every day to travel instead of the limo provided to him. Lived in a regular room in an apartment instead of the palace. He's a humble man and seems to have tried to follow Christ in the way he lived.

On the flip side, he is not aware of the problem Islam poses. He has never spoken about it and I doubt he knows the truth about Islam.

However, knowing how he lived his life here in Buenos Aires and seeing that one of the first things he said as Pope was something along the lines of: "We should follow the Gospels of Jesus. If we don't walk with the Cross (and the Lord), then we may be priests, bishops, popes, all of these, but we are not disciples of Christ." Now that, coming from the Pope shows humility. It shows that he does not put himself on a pedestal. And based on these things, I'd be willing to give him the shadow of a doubt and see how he proceeds.

And I am not even a Catholic.

If anyone is considered a friend to any "Muslim community", they are probably a disgusting appeaser.

I'm sorry. I know it would be nice to like the Pope, but if he tells the truth, Muslims will hate him, simple as that.

While I would generally agree with you on this one (the appeasement part especially). In this case I wouldn't go so far as to call him an appeaser.

Apart from what he said to Catholics about following Gospels...the first thing he concerned himself with as Pope regarding non Catholics was that he wanted better relationship with the Jewish community.

As far as I can tell, he did not say the same about the Muslim community...something you would expect from an appeaser.

Secondly, just because Muslims of Argentina called him a friend does not mean anything until the Pope himself returns the favor.

Now like I said, I would give this guy the benefit of the doubt. That does not, however, mean that we should all bow down and accept his every word.

All I'm saying is that I don't see a reason to throw him under the bus just yet like the liberal media all around the world is already doing.

Also when I said he's a conservative, we have to be very careful since a conservative in Argentina is not at all like the conservatives as understood by Americans.

On another note, Cadinal Turkson showed a video at the Vatican warning about Muslim population growth and eventual take over of Europe and he received flak from everyone there. Other cardinals were offended for Muslims...blah blah blah...so I don't think you will see, anytime soon, anyone in charge of the Vatican who'd be willing to tackle the Islam problem.

It is sad considering that the Popes over the history were instrumental in gathering armies against Muslim barbarians. Now they've just decided that bending over and taking it deep is the best way to go.

Sheesh.
