Authorities shot and killed one suspect in Monday’s Boston Marathon bombings and police were searching for a second suspect who was on the loose in Watertown, Mass., early Friday morning following a chaotic night that left one police officer dead and another critically wounded in the Boston suburbs.All public transportation was shut down in the greater Boston area Friday morning, for reasons of public safety, officials said. Residents of Watertown and several surrounding suburbs were asked to stay inside, and businesses were instructed not to open.“This situation is grave. We are here to protect public safety,” Police Commissioner Ed Davis said. “We believe these are the same individuals that were responsible for the bombings Monday at the Boston Marathon” and the killing and wounding of the police officers overnight.The mayhem began about 10:30 p.m. when an Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus police officer responded to a disturbance. That officer was found fatally wounded inside his vehicle on the campus in Cambridge, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s office.The shooting launched a massive police response. A short time later authorities received reports of an armed carjacking by two males nearby in Cambridge. Police immediately began a search for a Mercedes SUV that had beentaken at gunpoint by the two males and was later spotted in neighboring Watertown, the district attorney’s office said.Watertown police officers located the vehicle and after stopping it, exchanged gunfire with two men in a residential neighborhood. During the firefight, authorities said, multiple explosive devices were thrown from the vehicle and some exploded, which led to panic and concern in the town.A transit police officer was critically wounded in the firefight, authorities said.
Police fatally shot one suspect during the firefight, the district attorney’s office said. He was taken to Beth Israel-Deaconness Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, doctors there said.

Dzhokhar is a second-year medical student in the U.S. He is such an intelligent boy. We expected him to come on holidays here." Sierra Schwartz, a former classmate of “suspect two,” Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, appeared on ABC News on Friday morning where she said that the suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing was a normal kid when they went to school together. She said it was shocking to hear that her classmate, someone who had never seemed anything other than a “quiet” and “shy” person, could commit the attack on marathon watchers.
“He was always a very nice, kind of, funny guy, so this is incredibly shocking and absolute horrifying,” Schwartz said. “He was quiet, kind of shy.”
“He never seemed like the kind of guy who could ever do this,” Schwartz said.
“How Americanized was he?” asked George Stephanopoulos. “Did he ever talk about where he came from?”
“No,” Schwartz replied.
She said that Tsarnaev never talked about his family or background while they were in acting classes together at the prestigious private school Cambridge Rindge and Latin.
“It’s very shocking for all of us,” Schwartz said.
“When was the last time you saw him?” Stephanopoulos asked.
“I saw him in Cambridge,” Schwartz answered. “The summer of 2011.”
“This is not someone who, you know, seemed troubled in high school or shy – he was just one of us,” Schwartz observed. She said that Tsarnaev avoided talking about his family to the point that he never mentioned having a brother, identified as the deceased “suspect one.”
Schwartz said he was an honors student, an accomplished athlete, and someone with a lot of friends as a high school student.
“I just hope they catch him,” Schwartz concluded.

Yesterday, terrorism expert Steve Emerson reported that the now infamous Saudi national Abdul Rahman Ali Al-Harbi, who was briefly a ‘person of interest’ in the Boston marathon bombings, was scheduled for deportation next Tuesday.
A spokesman for ICE attempted to debunk this charge, which would seemingly discredit Emerson.
But alas, the government has been racking up quite a dubious history lately. At some point, its credibility must necessarily be incredible if this continues (didn’t the Obama administration blame a video for Benghazi attacks?). Now this…

Documents have been presented to Congress confirming that plans were made to revoke the visa of Abdul Rahman Ali Alharbi, a Saudi national once considered a “person of interest” in the Boston bombings, a congressional source told TheBlaze on Thursday.
Other sources, including one at the FBI, previously informed TheBlaze that there have been discussions about deporting Alharbi on “security and related grounds.” He has been living in the Boston area and in the U.S. on a student visa. An FBI source said the agency is against deporting Alharbi because of his status as a material witness.
The congressional source told TheBlaze it was unclear as to why representatives from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would be unaware of this information. Earlier on Thursday, an official with ICE said it was “categorically false” that Alharbi had ever been considered for deportation.
The congressional source, however, said the information sent to Congress showed that a file was created on “Abdul Rahman Ali Al Harby” at 4 p.m. on Tuesday by an official with the National Targeting Center, a counterterrorism sub-agency of U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Department of Homeland Security. The file stated that the individual is “linked to the Boston bombing” and was to be processed for revocation of his visa based on national security grounds, the congressional source revealed.

Okaz, the same prominent Saudi newspaper, that published photos of Abdul Rahman Ali Issa Al-Salimi Al-Harbi in the hospital after the Boston marathon bombings, is now reporting that the Saudi national was also visited by the first lady of the United States, Michelle Obama during his hospital stay.
Okaz stated further that the first lady also visited the other injured Saudi at the hospital, a female doctor named Nura Khalid Saleh al-Ajaji:
“Michelle Obama visited the two injured Saudis Abdulrahman Ali Essa Al-Salimi Al-Harbi and Nura Khalid Saleh Al-Ajjaji to check on their medical conditions.”
Adding credibility to this report seems to be multiple tweets made by the inner circle of the Al-harbi family: Now, contrarians to those with concerns about this visit will likely say that the first lady was simply paying visits to all the victims in the hospital, of which Alharbi was one and had been cleared two days earlier.
In light of recent reports that Alharbi was scheduled for deportation on ‘national security grounds’,the first lady’s visit takes on much added significance if those reports are true. We already know that the Alharbi clan consists of multiple Al-Qaeda members. This would seem to bolster the claims of scheduled deportation, not claims to the contrary made by the likes of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano, who actually never really answered the question; she just got rankled and blew it off.
With the track record of this administration relative to things like blaming a video for two weeks after the Benghazi attacks, it should have a higher standard to meet and its credibility should be questioned by the American people.
If these reports about Alharbi’s scheduled deportation for such reasons are correct, a visit by the first lady of the United States would indeed be significant in its importance. It would also be a major national security blunder because of the message it would send.
In light of the exponential rise in the number of Saudi students in the U.S. since 2006, what kind of message does the first lady’s visit send to the more nefarious brand of Saudi students?
It would seem the American people should both require and demand full transparency from the administration when it comes to the issue of Alharbi’s alleged scheduled deportation as well as his connections to multiple Al-Qaeda members / leaders through his clan.Read the full story hereand here.

I gotta be honest my Arabic is pretty sh*tty right now but the first report from the newspaper seems to be saying what you posted about.
"Obama's wife wishes Ajaji and AlHarbi best of health" or something to that effect and the newspaper seems to be saying that Michelle Obama visited the hospital where the Saudis are being treated and some student named Nora Ajaji underwent surgery yesterday.

Again, like I said, take what I'm translating here with a grain of salt because my Arabic is rustier than ever.
The wife of a country's "ruler" visiting Saudi students has significance. He wasn't the only one who lowered himself to the rulers of Saudi Arabia, but his whole household did.
That is one f***ed up move. Whether intentional or unintentional. Again, this is conjecture. I can't read the minds of the Saudis but in Islamic culture you would NEVER "send your woman out". And anyone doing so is seen as bowing down.

It would make sense specifically to visit him if he was being deported. His family is close to the royal family of Saudi Arabia. You wanna make sure he goes home happy or your Saudi overlords might get mad. Its simple mathematics in my head.

Witnesses to the scene lastnight say that the two suspects had backpacks that they were taking explosives out of, lobbing them at the police.
The police today said that there were military explosives all over the place after the situation ended.
Where would they get military grade explosives from?
