The TOTALLY centrist National Journal’s Ron Fournier, opining on the reason for wiretapping 20+ reporters and editors for months at AP.
One common thing with Benghazi and the IRS scandal, is we’re being misled every day. We were lied to on Benghazi, on the talking points behind Benghazi, for months. We were lied to by the IRS for months and now they’re sending a clear message to our sources:

A foreign crisis which not only defied Obama ideological mandates, but revealed a lack of attention to warnings and a systemic lack of vigilance caused by tone, and leadership from the top.
An IRS whose politicized actions were in the BEST CASE those of a craven career enhancing bent which reached to the highest level of the IRS, and perhaps Treasury and beyond, in the mid case to STOP American free dissent, and in the worst case were used to try to ensure a presidential election result, and will DESTROY THE LEGITIMACY OF THE THE ELECTED PRESIDENT (anyone remembering what leftist dems were saying about Bush after Florida’s chads, and SCOTUS in Bush v. Gore?)
A BLATANT attack on whistleblowers and leakers who may well have been concerned about the legitimacy of Obama policies at AP. A decision in which the AG, Holder, RECUSED himself neatly stepping out of any potential line of fire. This admin claims this effort was over a revelation of security information over how we attacked a jihadist in Yemen, but after all we have seen would it surprise anyone to find this another INEPT lie, and that it was over leaking information that Obama officials were planning to give Russia details of American ballistic missile defense?
This fecal avalanche did NOT happen by chance. The situation the nation is in this morning is the direct result of the entitled arrogant behavior of those who believe themselves the messengers of the blessed message and that therefore those opposing them are the opposite of blessed.
In an admin which promised transparency we now find actions to repress dissent by the PUBLIC by the IRS, attacks on freedom of speech by SCRET wiretaps of the AP, and twice as many prosecuted leakers in this admin as ALL AMERICAN ADMINISTRATIONS COMBINED.
Meanwhile overseas, the military is AFRAID to even TRY to act lest they be wrong even when their brothers’ lives are at stake. And why not have that attitude? The entire executive branch moved to cover them and their despicable lack of resolve and action without hesitation or reservation, and when the press finally CALLED the president on it, HE DOUBLED DOWN. In blessed ARROGANCE.

I agree with most of what you say, however, I have to say DOJ Eric Holder may have it right this time. IF national security has been breached by some stupid reporter - and that has not come out yet, but it appears that is the case - then, that reporter should be FOUND, and PROSECUTED. This "leaking" - like the WikiLeaks scandal - is often overdone and dangerous - reporters looking to make a name for themselves at the expense of national security. I say, case-by-case study should be employed, and when America is put in any danger - OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!
@James Edwards .. I don't concede this security explanation ANYMORE. An admin which acted in the manner it did over americans in peril, and then act they way they have over their 'explanation' does not get the benefit of the doubt from me. They will have to PROVE a leak, otherwise as far as I am concerned the AP wiretaps are an act CONSONANT with the actions of the IRS.
SUPPRESS THOSE WHO DISAGREE.
Considering the totality of the actions of this Administration, many of which are now coming to light in these various scandals, it is hard for me to believe the AP wiretaps are anything but intimidation.
However, James Edwards could be right, and in fact, I fear that he is.
Imagine what might happen if the Administration was proven to have had a very good reason for what they did.
Will all the Libs and Lefties then say, well they probably had good reason for the IRS stuff, for Benghazi, for the Sebelius thing, for the EPA situation?
Will it all be swept right back under the rug?
I fear that is EXACTLY what is going to happen.
Is it safe to assume that James Edwards is equally concerned with the traitorous scumbag(s) responsible for numerous national security breaches resulting in the death of our military including:
Camp Bastion with the loss of Marine Lt. Col. Christopher Raible and Sgt. Bradley Atwell?
30 dead including members of Seal Team 6 and many more?
Or does James Edwards concern only apply to national security breaches as they negatively impact this administration?
If this administration had 'good reason' don't you think one of the 'leaks' would have suggested as much before now?
Also, define 'good reason' because I bet Obama and this administrations definition of 'good' may very well conflict with the definition as it relates to his/their oath of office.
Assisting Muslim Brotherhood Expansionism could never be interpreted as part/parcel of our founding father's intentions.
I remind the readers, in 1942 in the midst of WW2, after the battle of Midway and before Guadalcanal, the Chicago Tribune revealed we could read the Japanese codes and THAT's how we won at Midway.
After this...
There was no wiretapping.
There were no arrests.
FDR et al decided that bringing more attention to a security breach was EVEN MORE STUPID. And that was a MILKY WAY SIZED breach.
