Miss Christine (Christine Frka) was a member of the GTO`s, a band signed to Zappa`s Straight label. She was Alice Cooper's girlfriend and has often been credited with creating the Alice Cooper look.

RIP Miss Christine.

Interesting. That is a subject (the LA rock scene - Laurel Canyon) I am very interested in.

I have trouble keeping all the people straight.

The types I hung out with the 80's and 90's.

Hope you didn't catch anything permanent, LOL!

I could prattle on about the '60s LA rock scene until the next century. Start with "The Wrecking Crew"...be amazed when you discover the real history of Glen Campbell and Leon Russell among many others.

It goes variously uphill and downhill from there but is far more interesting than Haight Ashbury and San Francisco.

Thank God. I did not catch anything permanent. I was a serial monogamist.

But anyway, I don't know about Leon Russell or Glen Campbell. Any links you have would be appreciated.

Just search "the wrecking crew" and it will come back to you.

Glen & Leon were consummate musicians who recorded on so many LA hits in the 60s it is probably impossible to catalog.
Beach Boys, Byrds, it doesn't matter...they are the guys you will hear on the recordings.

Try this link to you tube for an idea of what these guys were up to early on.

Was Carol Kaye and Hal Blaine part of the Wrecking Crew?

Carol Kaye is one of my favorite musicians ever.

Ah, here we go. Yes they were

I'm also a big fan of the 70's era studio musicians;

Russ Kunkel
RIch Marotta
Jerry Hey
Tom Scott
Steve Gadd
Chuck Rainey
Lee Ritenour
Larry Carlton
Pete Christlieb
Jim Keltner

Those guys were great.

Love Russ Kunkel. Played my favorite Tom fills ever; Fire and Rain (with the brushes yet the toms sound SO HUGE).

Blaine is credited with coining the name "Wrecking Crew". Carol was the only (sigh) acknowledged female member.

The key to understanding LA sound in the 60's is that there really wasn't any generation gap. The transition was very smooth.
