"Why was I so often so angry?”

Robert Gates in his memoir.
I am a little nervous about quoting this because the book itself is not yet released and even though it’s the WSJ and other ‘respectable’ papers, including Bob Woodward’s review excerpting, the context is important. But one fully quoted reason for his anger is an incident in which he is present as Obama and Hlllary are discussing their opposition to the Iraq surge, during which Hillary memorably told Genl Petraus one had to ‘suspend belief’ to believe the surge was working or would work (of course, it DID).
They both admitted in front of this non politician, and to each other that their opposition was purely political, and therefore they had no objective reason to either attempt to crucify Petraus or oppose Bush, save because Bush was R and they were D.
This is an ICON of the underlying impossibility of proper governance and a complete description of why the federal govt MUST be as small as possible. These PROFESSIONAL members of the political class, who have done very little in their lives other than serve in and for positions of power over others thought NOTHING of this admission in front of Gates. They could not conceive of another way of being than partisan opposition to the others. Thus they discsuss this freely as if it’s meaning is a given as a way of being, and therefore UNREMARKABLE. The benefit of the nation, the men and women whose lives were at risk and the long term foreign policy success of the USA are not considered, merely the opposition to each other and the Bush admin in the run up to the 2008 election.
“Hillary told the president that her opposition to the [2007] surge in Iraq had been political because she was facing him in the Iowa primary.  … The president conceded vaguely that opposition to the Iraq surge had been political. To hear the two of them making these admissions, and in front of me, was as surprising as it was dismaying.”
I have no love for what the Demcocrats have become since the 60’s slide from equal opportunity to a demand for equal outcome and international guilt and apology in withdrawal from everywhere, but this is not a party problem. I am CERTAIN that there are equally cynical opposition stories among the R’s. This is an explanation of why such people must be confined to minimal impact on our daily lives.
They are NOT LIKE US. They do not LIVE LIKE US. They have other needs and motives whose impact FALLS ON US. And those needs and motives take precedence over the welfare of those they have ‘sworn’ to serve.

They pretend to pay us, and we pretend to work.
Every day, that gets closer as a national subconscious state of being.

Meanwhile, the Bush Administration knew, in the early stages after 9/11, that Saudis working for and with the Royal Family, were intimately involved in the planning and funding of 9/11. And yet Bush did not go after the Saudis, but treated them with kid gloves and went after Iraq instead.

There you go.

There's more out there if you look it up.

All of this is treason:

Bush, Hilary, Obama. All of it is treason.

By the way, here is a portion from the Washington Post article:

"While serving as defense secretary, Gates gave Obama high marks, saying privately in the summer of 2010 that the president is “very thoughtful and analytical, but he is also quite decisive.” He added, “I think we have a similar approach to dealing with national security issues.”

THE THING IS, IF GATES KNEW WHAT HE KNEW, HE OUGHT NEVER HAVE SAID THE ABOVE.

Gates is a weasel. Same as that Scott McClellan guy who turned on Bush to sell his ridiculous book.

And Powell and Greenspan, and all the spineless people who suddenly see the light and the truth after they leave government. Why didn´t they resign publicly stating the reason for their actions? They are all cowards. The people who made this country great are all gone, or in positions where they have no influence. People like Allen West are kicked out of government precisely because they do have a backbone and no place in government. And who did the GOP choose for a VP? A guy good with budgets, and who made a fool of himself in one of the debates, overrun completely by Biden. None of these guys show backbone, but those are the people who seek the limelight, and the ones who are voted into power.
