Bill Maher and Salman Rushdie Ask: "Have We Reached a Tipping Point?

Interesting to note that:

Paul Begala says, "It's the fight within Islam that's most important. It's not amenable to a situation from the West."

And Salman Rushdie replies, "Yes, but what we can do is not give a fucking inch."

This is similar to what I was saying earlier today: "The only thing Infidels can do to hasten change in Islam is to put pressure, in various ways, on Muslims to force that change."

Not back down?

Put pressure on Muslims?

I guess putting pressure on Muslims is different.

Nasrallah's and rouhani's condemnations or the he do attack are cheap and meaningless. When they stop supporting terror, then we have turned the corner. I firmly believe that Iran will say anything until they get a nuke. And that nasrallah and erdogan will do whatever they c an do to help Iran get a nuke. Erdogan is sending his pm to Paris to protest the hebdo attack. But turkey doesn't itself support free speech. Iow, it's b.s..

I agree. I was surprised Rushdie cited that as a reason for optimism.

This does not make any sense. Rushdie has to know these are all deceiving tactics to gain time. Also saying this is an internal Islamist struggle, that has nothing to do with the West and the infidels is more than disingenuous. That internal fight for the control of Islam has been taking place since the pedophile went to hell. Therefore, nothing new there. So what´s going on?

I'm going out on a limb here, but is it possible Rushdie was a plant from the start, to gain recognition, consideration from every free country in the world, and when the time is right he starts dropping this nonsense about internal Islamic struggle? He even said, "you will not accuse me of justifying Islam ..." What a cover that would be, right?

I don't put anything past these people. Their very core is rotten and corrupt.

Well that's an interesting theory. If he continues to make the case for a new and improved Islam emerging, even when there is no real evidence, then I guess that would be more evidence for your theory.
