Police thwart suspected ISIS terror plot in London

From the New York Post:
British authorities broke up a plot by ISIS to unleash a terror strike in London when they nabbed two men — and cops searched several other addresses as part of the probe, officials said.
The two London residents — 19 and 20 years old — were held by Scotland Yard after the early-morning raid, the Evening Standard of the UK reported. The men were held on suspicion of being involved in the “preparation of terrorist acts.”
Police declined to release details about the plot or any intended targets.
The 20-year-old allegedly funded terrorism and failed to disclose information about a terrorist act. The younger suspect allegedly planned terrorist acts.
Authorities believe the plot was not a random “lone wolf” attack, but something more serious and widespread, Sky News reported.
The terrorist threat level in the country is considered severe, meaning an attack is highly likely, officials said.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe recently said it was a matter of “when, not if” an ISIS attack is carried out in Britain.
Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, who heads the UK’s counter-terror operations, said his officers were carrying out “hundreds of investigations” into terror suspects and dealing with a “steady flow” of plots by home-brewed jihadists.
The latest arrests came just days after hate preacher Anjem Choudary, 49, one of Britain’s most notorious Islamic activists, was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison after being convicted of encouraging support for ISIS.
Choudary faced ten years, but the sentence he received was structured such that he will actually be out in 2 1/2 years, not the five he was sentenced to.
