You Gotta Admire Her BALLZ! Sarah Palin Says, Trump's Carrier Deal Looks Like "Crony Capitalism"

You Betcha

From GMA:
Gov. Sarah Palin, who is being considered for a cabinet position in the Trump administration -- is raising alarm over president-elect's recently announced deal with Carrier, suggesting in an op-ed it could amount to "crony capitalism."
"When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent," Palin wrote in a 'Young Conservatives' op-ed.
"Republicans oppose this, remember? Instead, we support competition on a level playing field, remember? Because we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail."
Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence traveled to the Carrier plant in Indianapolis Thursday to tout the company agreeing to keep 1,100 jobs in the city instead of shipping hundreds to Mexico.
Carrier said in a statement the agreement was due in part to the incoming administration's lobbying as well as state tax incentives.
Trump's transition team has refused to publicly disclose the full details of the deal, but company officials said in a statement Thursday that the state of Indiana, where Pence is governor, offered the company a $7 million package over multiple years, contingent on factors including employment, job retention and capital investment.
GO READ THE WHOLE THING.

She's got a point. Not only is it a form of Crony Capitalism, (or at least it could ultimately lead to that on a large scale), but it's also going to lead to more and more negotiation by more and more companies.

On the other hand, corporations already lean on cities and states to give them tax breaks. There are whole departments in city and state governments dedicated to incentivizing corporations to move into their areas.

What are you gonna do?

Frankly, I don't know how Trump is going to solve the problem of businesses exiting the United States without cutting deals such as the apparent deal he cut with Carrier.

I'm thinking that it might take some very non-conservative moves to right the Ship of State, which has been running aground for the past 30 years. Somehow, the United States need to find a way to incentivize our businesses to stay here.

Pasto,

Yep.

And so do foreign governments.

Our trade situation is FUBAR!

Sarah Palin is not exactly intellectual. I was disappointed in her after the initial enthrallment with her features and killer legs. She did not educate herself well as a potential future VP pick. Her interviews were disappointing. She lacked map-reading skills 101.

I wish Trump would work with my corporation. I received an $87.50 "bonus" for the year. If our corporation had performed at one level higher based on the metric, my bonus would have climbed to.... drum roll.... one hundred dollars even. In other words, walk on water like Jesus and we will give you a few clams. But just work your butt off and you will get zilch, nada, zeta.

Trump is pro-worker. It is average workers who need relief. We need jobs, disposable income and affordable healthcare. Let him offer us relief and then I will lose sleep over Sarah Palin's screech. The woman can probably add and subtract but probably does not know the power of multiplication. Carrier is a force multiplier kind of deal. Trump will work with mathematical tables which many of us barely comprehend in bringing jobs back to workers.

I agree with you, AOW. I think the times are dire, and moves are needed without regard to whether they are right or left.

HOWEVER, the disaster of Faith-based initiatives keeps coming back to me. I supported them, with misgivings, when Bush promoted them.

I think they have been the just about the worst thing that has ever happened to the American Church.
