Sean Spicer finally DID IT

It’s hard to believe he found a way to jump the shark after the Melissa McCarthy episodes and all the other assorted items that have turned the daily press briefings into actual TV.
He made it so far I thought he could just outlast every incident.
Spicer saying Hitler did not use chemical weapons in between the two Seders of Passover represents a blockage of brains all over the (Jewish?) world while searching for some kind of phrase to describe the quality and amplitude of this one.
And THEN Spicer issued a series of ‘holy shit how do I get out of this one?’ tweet clarifications each of which raised the ante significantly.
Like this:
Press Sec. on Hitler/Assad comments: "He was not using the gas on his own people the same way...he brought them into the Holocaust centers."
HOLOCAUST CENTERS?
I can see him at the keyboard frantically typing some combination of letters to get him out from under the USA AND Israel
Resulting in:
"The White House announced today Press Secretary Sean Spicer has left to pursue an opportunity with United Air Lines."
Cannot make it up.
@realDonaldTrump, in case you haven’t heard from your daughter or son in law today, or your Treas Sec, or your economics adviser, or every single American who happens to be Jewish who supported you, time for Sean to get out the way here and replace with someone who can relate on their feet.
How about Laura Ingraham (if she will do it)?

It’s over.

OK. Let me be the one. Hitler actually did refrain from using chemical agents as weapons of war on the battlefield. His Generals suggested them but he refused. He did so because he remembered the horrible effects of mustard gas in the trenches of WWI. His personal experience apparently the font of what appears to have been his single scruple.

This comment was in rgd to chemical war on Germans or civilians.

Oscar Munoz is wiping his brow and thanking Satan for getting him out of the public eye.

I certainly do not want to defend Spicer's ignorance, but

The comment was in regards to using them as a means of warfare vs. how Hitler used them which was as a means of extermination, as with the death penalty.

I'm quite sure Spicer was aware Hitler gassed Jews.

Wait, I called Oscar Munoz safe too soon.

Just this afternoon:

"That Hitler probably had a better way of re-accomodating travellers than we did with the Asian wuss."

Maybe the bottom line should be: quit bringing "Hitler" and "Nazi" into every example of evil or point of disagreement. The press corps will have a field day pillorying Spicer for his boneheaded remarks. That same press would immediately call me a "Nazi" if they read my posts on IBA.

Oh yea, this will be more Trump is a white supremacist, anti-semite fodder for a few weeks.

From Ace of Spades:

Fauxtrage of the Day: Sean Spicer Says (Wrongly) That Even Hitler Didn't Sink to Assad's Level in Using Chemical Weapons; Is Attacked as "Holocaust Denier;" Later Apologizes
—Ace

Resolved: Any time you're planning on using an "Even Hitler didn't sink to this level" argument to rhetorically savage an adversary, you should rethink things, because it's probably not going to go well.

That said, this is another ginned-up fauxtroversy -- we all know what Spicer was trying to do (rhetorically attack Assad by comparing him unfavorably to Hitler). We all know he wasn't trying to deny the Holocaust happened.

But that's how liberals, including CNN's fulsomely smug Jake Tapper, are taking it. If you can bear it, you can watch Tapper's smug know-it-all act in the video that runs with Pelosi's demand that Spicer be fired, suggesting that Spicer take a trip to the Holocaust Museum just a few blocks away.

Why is the Holocaust always used as the gold standard of genocides. It pales in comparison to Stalin or Mao, but you never hear about THOSE. Hmm, wonder why.
Who are the CEOs of ALL the major entertainment companies? As Voltaire said, "If you want to know who controls you, look at who you can't criticize."
Criticize, you can't even come CLOSE
to having an innocent comment wildly misconstrued. THAT is the truth.

TONIGHT... AT THE PASSOVER SEDER we are about 50-50 abt Trump, but there is no one here who feels differently from me and all 30 of us are ENRAGED. Those who think this is some daily outrage? You are Munoz on this one

Ignorance is not the same as anti-Semitism.

Gateway Pundit lends some perspective:

Liberal Media Attacks Sean Spicer Over Poorly Worded Hitler Reference – Ignores Years of Obama Anti-Semitic Policies

What's more, let's think of Trump's support of Israel, being the first President to signal he will recognize Jerusalem as the capitol.

I don't buy the idea that the Trump administration is anti-Semitic. They are belligerent blowhards, no doubt. But what matters is their policies. And when compared to other presidents, especially the one we just escaped from, Trump is by comparison an Israel lover and Judeo-phile.

I never thought Trump Bannon etc, racist. Spicer is not racist. But he is ignorant to the degree that he hurts Trump. He should be GONE

Last point ... on the night of the first Seder before this comment, we all discussed how the Nazis had invented Tabun and Sarin and then never used it. There was no disagreement as to how horrendous Assad (as a family) is.
Or that SOLELY among the ME dictators have these weapons found use, and ONLY against civlians, and ONLY their own civilians.
There was no need for Spicer to say anything but that, and it's a win. Instead...the reaction among my family was uniform, extreme in DEGREE, and unyielding.
Spicer has to go.
Otherwise, like Flynn, like others, WHO THE FUCK IS VETTING people for Trump, and why the fuck is Trump keeping people around who are incompetent?

WE have enough issues right now.

Spicer is showing signs of combat fatigue. He needs a rack and three meals.

That being said, dragging anything related to Jews and Nazi Germany into any conversation can subject the same to spin.

Advice? Just don't do it.

Last night Wolf Blitzer was brutal toward Spicer, and what is human failing. He repeatedly tried to make Spicer grovel on national television. I find that lacking in professional ethics.

Spicer doesn't do well with this pack of wolves. He can't think on his feet and makes blundering statements too often.

There must be someone better for this job!

I respond - i agree he hurts Trump. Trump probably should fire him. Let's see if Trump does.

Part of what Trump battles against is the PC.

PC is modern day manners.

Trump is about substance over style.

Manners are about style.

Substance is about real morality.

I'm not sure Trump will fire Spicer, because Trump is going to teach us all a lesson about substance over style.

I believe that is part of his mission.

Pastorius said...

In the end, I believe we will all thank him for it.

We have all been too willing to succumb to pretty words, and not willing to actually stand up for what is right.

Epaminondas said...

At the Seder, when you are reading that every Jew alive should think of himself/herself as being freed from Egypt, when you read of the martyrs of 2,000+ years who simply were slaughtered, not even fighting for anything but conscience, when you are reminded of what it took to get where the USA is, and then you are presented with what Spicer said, and could have avoided saying because he was trying to justify what needed none, it's not PC.

People were TRULY staggered. The people MOST upset were those who voted for Trump. My wife wanted to slap his face.

I expect more. EXPECT.

This is for keeps.

BTW his apology was accepted, but some things incur damage that apologies simply highlight that the person is unacceptable in mind, and heartfelt asking for forgiveness, simply is not enough to correct damage.

This is such an example. Surely he can do better as a behind the scenes director, and not out front where this can happen.

Better for all

TLEP - BTW, Blitzer ?

His parents are Holocaust survivors. I understand why he was the way he was, but he should have 'recused' himself, ***AND/OR*** CNN should have substituted another interviewer.

Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect
BREAKING NEWS:
SEAN SPICER DENIES HITLER GASSED JEWS DURING THE HOLOCAUST. MR. PRESIDENT, FIRE SEAN SPICER NOW.
In his afternoon press briefing, Sean Spicer invoked Adolf Hitler in describing Syrian President Assad. Spicer said "Even Hitler didn't sink to using chemical weapons." Reaction of Steven Goldstein, Executive Director of the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect: "On Passover no less, Sean Spicer has engaged in Holocaust denial, the most offensive form of fake news imaginable, by denying Hitler gassed millions of Jews to death. Spicer's statement is the most evil slur upon a group of people we have ever heard from a White House press secretary. Sean Spicer now lacks the integrity to serve as White House press secretary, and President Trump must fire him at once."

evil? no.
ignorant yes.

That's why his apology was accepted. He's no actor.
