Something is up in the Trump White House on North Korea

Accumulating evidence, however, indicates something is up on North Korea. It could be real. It could be mere pressure, although after the sudden missile raid on Syria last week, diplomats would have to plan as if it’s real.
After visiting South Korea last month, Secy. of State Rex Tillerson pronounced the last 20 years of allied policy toward North Korea a failure. He said the era of “strategic patience” was over, adding all options are on the table, including military action.
Secy. of Defense James Mattis delivered similar messages and Vice President Mike Pence is due there later this month.
When Pyongyang launched its next missile test, Tillerson issued an unusual 23-word response:
““North Korea launched yet another intermediate range ballistic missile. The United States has spoken enough about North Korea. We have no further comment.”
Over the weekend the Pentagon ordered the Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group to waters off the Korean Peninsula. Press reports said China was massing 150,000 troops on its border with North Korea, reports denied by a Beijing spokeswoman.
On Sunday H.R. McMaster said Trump had tasked the National Security Council to develop a full range of options to halt North Korea’s nuclear threat to the U.S. and regional allies.
Then, we checked President Trump’s public schedule for today. He’s got his daily intelligence briefing, followed by meetings with Homeland Security Secy. John Kelly, and Gary Cohn, director of the National Economic Council, and also McMaster.
And then, wait. What this? “In the evening, the President will have a working dinner with senior military leaders.”

Yes .... this has occupied my mind for days now.

I think we all know what has to done.

.... what has been kicked down the road by the last 3 administrations.

..... we could probably eliminate the threat NK poses, and often threatens, to us.

South Korea, and our troops stationed in South Korea however ....

THAAD will probably keep them from getting nuked ..... but they better be ready to deal with a million rounds of artillery and charging starving brainwashed cluster bomb fodder.

Perhaps Trump is just crazy enough to pull the trigger.

I dont know whether to be giddy or terrified.

What would victory look like here?

I dont particularly care whether or not the peninsula is unified under either leadership.

I remember that South Korea wouldn't help us in Iraq. I wanted to pull all our shit out of there then.

All I care about is eliminating the threat these brainwashed lunatic pose if they can lob nuclear projectiles on our mainland.

They're not a redeemable society (NK). They are truly batshit crazy from birth. There's no other place like it on Earth. We'd have to remove several generations from their gene pool.

All the options suck ..... but it HAS to be done. I guess now is as good a time as any.

I dont think you could ever bomb the Juche out of them.

.... Its a lot like having a mind full of Islam.

They're a fascinating case study in how you can isolate a group of human minds and indoctrinate them from birth, and pass the indoctrination from generation to generation, to the point that the mind is so fucked up that it would never be able to function without the great leader's guidance.

The Mongols could be violent enough to pacify an Islamic mindset .... but they couldn't conquer the peninsula.

Trump:""We are sending an armada, very powerful. We have submarines, very powerful, far more powerful than the aircraft carrier, that I can tell you. And we have the best military people on Earth. And I will say this. He is doing the wrong thing. He is doing the wrong thing.""

If you're going to Nuke them from a submarine, you dont need to risk the Carrier.

I don't think we're going to nuke them, unless, maybe bunker busters, but those have to be dropped, don't they?

We have 20 that can be dropped by B2 .... but come on man ..... nothing deters future bad behavior than a well placed nuke.
