This parade of students today has been both infuriating and disgusting.
These kids have no idea what they are really asking for or how to get to it. What really would have prevented this (WHY have I not heard them ask why the FBI failed so completely?).
They are being used as pawns, nothing more, by the anti-gun crowd.
Using kids that way is foul enough.
But to do so in the wake of a tragedy, when so many of their friends lay dead or injured, is an evil all it's own.
Whipping them into a frenzy.
Weapons of war, they say, should be banned.
A weapon of war wasn't used. Would not have stopped Parkland.
Banning handguns would not have stopped Virginia Tech.
They've been given talking points from the left and, having watched some of the speeches, I have no doubt those speeches were written for them.
You want to talk about this let's talk about security in the schools, mental health, fixing a disaster of a law enforcement agency. Arm teachers or staff (voluntarily)
Leave these kids alone.
But that wouldn't bring the media ratings or push their agenda. They need the pathos for that.
Not eloquent but that's all I have to say.
Let the hate mail begin.

I say to these children:
Your parents turn you over to the state - in the form of the public school system - 180 days a year. The state is responsible for providing for your security during these hours. They chose to do this by declaring the schools "gun free zones". That's it.
In no way do they protect you from the random maniac or group of fanatics brandishing guns, machetes, or suicide vests. In short, the schools do not take their responsibility for your safety seriously. And, it would seem, neither do your parents.
The tragic but predictable results of this dereliction cannot be used to justify making us all less safe. I will not stand for it. Time to grow up.

I am writing a column which will run in about eight days. A bit of a different slant - but I appreciate your post.
The students are being managed as part of a narrative. While understanding both the sentiment felt by those directly impacted, and the trauma of those in the near vicinity of their fallen classmates, it is appalling that media stoops so low.
I have no sympathy for the little pieces of shit.
They are morally accountable for their actions.

Well, after doing a bit of research on David Hogg I wish there were a way I could hack into YouTube and scrub his personae off the web. Cannot stand the mouthy kid.
Unfortunately, he is probably receiving a full-ride scholarship for his sophistry. Future CNN "journalist". Can hardly wait!
