French Government Rolling Tanks Into Paris To Fight Against Their Own People
I have no problem with any government's use of violence to deal with violent protesters.
If some shithead commie wannabe burns my car on the street I'd feel obliged to burn down his house with him in it.
While I respect anyone's right to resort to violence to achieve what they couldn't at the ballot box, I have no sympathy for a fool that doesn't expect that violence to be reciprocated.
Revolution's not a game for thin skinned snowflakes.
They started out that way. Rural Folks like me that realized Tax of Fuel, or here they tried to based Car insurance rates my the miles driven, was unfair to those who chose to live outside the socialist utopias. Its designed to force behavioral changes.
Kinda like forcing manufactures to produce water saving products such as toilets, shower heads with flow restrictions, and dishwashers and washing machines that use so little water you have to run them twice to get shit clean. That may be appropriate for city dwellers living with a water supply system during severe drought conditions. But I have 2 wells. An unlimited supply of water. I shouldn't have to put up with this stupid shit because some environmental agency forced a manufacturer to do this for others, and those manufacturers are not going to make water saving models for city folks and machines that really work for folks not living under drought conditions.
France should have at least just levied those fuel taxes in the urban areas where mass transit users predominate, and not the provinces where people have to drive more.
But that wouldn't be fair in the socialist urban dwellers minds. People in the city would just drive to the burbs where fuel was less taxed.
But yeah, this particular episode might have been started as a climate change tax revolt, but those folks were placated with a suspension of the new fuel taxes. Now its being continued by those that want more socialism in their lives. Those that didn't like Macron eliminating the previously passed wealth tax when the high earning economic engine wealthy started moving out of France.
Look at their demands now ...... more Socialism. The Communist Party and Socialist party are using this flash mob to their political advantage. You think these students that were arrested give a fuck about the Fuel Tax? They are just taking the opportunity to promote a Leftist agenda.
France crossed a societal socialist point of no return after the 1968 protest appeasements. Their overall expectations of government are unsustainable.
I personally hope the protesters get what they want. The self-destruction of France's economy due to Capital flight.
These rural folks who started this protest over Fuel taxes are the same rural voters that have voted for the communist party in the past. Now some rural areas are Le Pen strongholds but if she came to power through legitimate elections the other half would go apeshit. They're as a whole slightly more ungovernable than we are. A little more prone to get out in the streets and burn shit than we are as well. But I suspect when their violent protests start getting met with violent responses they are just as comfortable with their current lifestyle as we are, and are not likely to take up arms against government forces.
Hmm.... well on this particular subject ..... I take what I see in the news and filter it based on what I perceive to be the News sources biases and agenda. I've been reading some French perspectives on this over on Reddit and filtering it based on my experience with Reddit users in general being a younger highly leftward skewing sample of any general population. Then I always revert to my own biases that incorporate history and my lifelong study of news and people.
Ultimately my analysis is just my opinion based on my life experiences.
And when I put it together in this case, I see these protests no longer being about rural folks angry over Fuel taxes, but just the usual leftists suspects looking for an convenient outlet for their normal levels of rage.
These students btw, were not protesting any climate change taxes, they were protesting the changes to the BAC. The French version of the SAT for college entrance. France has the same problem Texas does. The massive influx of immigrants has been lowering the average test scores for years relative to where they were before the immigration influx. With Testing scores down Macron was proposing changes that made it easier for the dumbass children of immigrants to get into college, even though 70% of them wash out before they get a degree. These kids resented that, and their teachers encouraged them to protest because they fear less testing would lead to less teacher jobs. The same shit goes on here to a slightly lessor degree. Thing is the kids tried to take over the school .... like the students in France did in 1968.. The difference between French and American students is when the cops arrived they started getting in their face or throwing projectiles at them. They were speaking truth to power because they were not afraid of the power. The cops didn't have enough handcuffs for the entire student body so they strapped their asses down until it could be sorted out. I have no problem with that call. Now images of that are being circulated by those on the left with an agenda that these images help support their narrative.
At any rate, I think these these spontaneous protests are starting to wain, just like most all protest movements do. Lock some of the worst agitators up until things cool down and most western people have to get back to their comfortable daily lives. High levels of support for these things always diminish quickly once the consequences start interfering with their ability to get on with normal daily routines.
Macrons low approval rates btw are also a byproduct of the French Multiparty system. Whereas the genius of our 2-party system keeps us split at about 50/50 ideologically, the French system is divided up many directions. No US President's approval ratings ever dip down past 25% because of Party affiliation. Like how with all of Trumps flaws a high percentage would still rather see him than Hillary. In Multiparty systems such as France the communists always have a seat at the table, and events like these riots always generate a temporary bump in their popularity. Its only when the fear of what their ideology will do to current levels of prosperity set in does the pendulum swings back to the right far enough that a centrist can squeeze in between a left divided with too many options on the ballot.
I dont see Islam thriving in an environment where people are accustomed to taking to the streets if their freedoms are threatened. If Macron was a Muslim his head might be in a bucket tonight. Unless the majority of the populace were fellow adherents.
