“A real true warrior Pray for the king and his family.. he’s in ICU fighting the after effects of the vaccine! He’ll be just fine but we could use the positive energy and Prayer for his Full Recovery!”
And then, later in the evening, Thomas Hearns posted this:
Then, later, here's how the story appeared in the MSM:
A post on the Official Marvin Hagler Fan Page purporting to be from Hagler’s wife announced the death.
“I am sorry to make a very sad announcement. Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire.
Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time. With love, Kay G. Hagler.” Hagler married Kay Guarrera in 2000. He was previously married to Bertha Hagler from 1980-90. The couple had five children.
TMZ followed the Facebook post with a report that Hagler’s son, James, said his father was taken to a New Hampshire hospital after experiencing chest pains and difficulty breathing.
TMZ reported that Hagler’s family was notified four hours later that he had died.

Hagler won his title on September 27, 1980. He destroyed Englishman Alan Minter on the defending champ's home turf. I saw it on TV, live, and the description of the aftermath of the fight below is exactly how I remember it:
"As soon as the crowd comprehended that the bout had been stopped, the arena was engulfed in chaos. Hagler, in a gesture of triumph and thanksgiving, raised his arms and then sank to his knees at ring center. A full can of beer, hurled out of the darkness above, just missed him. Then a hail of bottles and cans descended as Hagler’s cornermen rushed in to shield him. More than one ringsider was struck by wayward projectiles, as people dived for cover under chairs and tables, and even the ring itself. A phalanx of British police swiftly hustled the new champion and his people out of the ring and the torrent of debris followed them as they ran for the exit. Later, as the car carrying Hagler exited the arena, someone heaved a brick and smashed the windshield. It was a shameful night for British sports fans."
And a marvelous night for Marvin.
Hagler - Minter fight if your interested. About 9 minutes.

Thank you, my friend.
I absolutely love boxing, and I have never seen this. I will watch it.
Bonus: Howard Cosell announcing. As much as he was derided in many arenas he was a damn good ring announcer.
Yeah, he was. And Mohammed Ali's legend was helped by the great work Howard Cosell did.
I read Cosell's autobiography when I was a kid.
