An observation:
I am now a Senior. When I started blogging in 2004, I was in my early 40's.
I have two daughters, one in her early 20's, and the other in her late 20's.
When my daughters were pre-teens, my wife and I used to laugh at them because they would play internet games on desktop, while watching someone else play the game on their iPad, while, at the same time, talking to a friend on the phone about the game, and any other topic in the world.
In other words, they were doing three things at once. Instead of sitting passively watching TV, they were interacting with the game on multiple levels, while having conversation about the game, etc.
I am a musician. Drums were my first instrument. A good drummer has to be able to think about his four limbs separately. AND, he has to be able to think about the music, especially the bass player, and the direction, and dynamics of the song.
Unlike many parents, I was not horrified by my daughter's playing a game, watching a game, and talking to a friend at once. I was merely amused. My kids were doing the same thing that I do as a drummer.
Asmongold is one of the most popular Social Media Influencers in the world. By one metric, Engagement, he is the number one streamer in the world in any given week:
Asmongold's ranking varies by metric, but he's consistently a top streamer, often ranking high in average viewers and watch hours, even becoming the most-watched globally in mid-2025 by adding Kick to his Twitch streams; however, he ranks lower in total followers compared to top stars like Kai Cenat, focusing more on content engagement.
The Engagement metric measures interaction with streaming commenters, along with average time viewing per viewer. In other words, Engagement measures the capturing of the viewer's attention.
Asmongold approaches his show the way my daughter's played video games when they were kids.
For instance, in this video, he is watching the Trump press conference, commenting on it, engaging with live commenters, and apparently, talking to someone in his studio, whose voice we never hear.
And he's doing all of this at the same time.
This feels chaotic to someone my age. HOWEVER, I hate watching Trump Press Conferences, and I hate watching Trump speeches.
But I LOVE watching Trump Press Conferences and Speeches on Asmongold's show.
I love it.
Why?
Because it feels interactive. It feels like watching with friends. I hear the perceptions and opinions of others, who I may agree with, or disagree with. It is a dialogue of multiple voices. It gives perspective, and alternative ways to think about the topics.
And it gives me a comedic/intellectual break from the natural tension and boredom I feel when listening to Trump.
And that's all great. But what I'm really getting at is the difference in consciousness of Generation Z vs. Boomers/Gen Xers.
Boomers are more likely to sit passively and listen to Rachel Maddow, believing every fucking words she says.
Gen Z is more likely to actually to be engaged in a dialogue.
Their divided consciousness allows them to engage with multiple streams of thought at once.
F. Scott Fitzgerald said,
“The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function,”
That's what Gen Z is doing, But instead of holding two opposing ideas, they are more like Quantum computers, working their way through the calculations of multiple dialogues simultaneously.
The best of Gen Zers will combine this ability with a long attention span, and likely achieve something akin to the exponential power of Quantum calculations in spheres of creativity and innovation.
