France Committed To Disarm Hizbullah. Well Kinda. Sorta. Whatever

H/t Charles Johnsen.

The French government never disappoints, does it? Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy explained that France will do everything necessary to disarm Hizbullah. Well, by diplomatic tools only that is.

French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy made clear in an interview with Le Monde newspaper that the mission of the larger UNIFIL would not include disarming Hizbollah by force.

"We never thought a purely military solution could resolve the problem of Hizbollah," he said. "We are agreed on the goal, the disarmament, but for us the means are purely political."

Well, big victory for Israel indeed, Ehud! Wonderfully done! France is committed to disarm Hizbullah by political means only! Ha, that will teach Hizbullah a lesson! Yep, you showed them whose boss.

The current French commander of UNFIL, the UN force in Lebanon, has done such a fine job of disarming Hezbollah hasn't he?
