Stop Or I'll Sho... Umh, Say Stop Again!

It seems that the Israeli troops were already rolling towards southern Lebanon to start the large-scale ground offensive approved yesterday, when they were ordered to halt. According to the JPost the US pressured Olmert into giving diplomacy yet another chance.

In JP's analysis of today, the authors Herb Keinon and Yaakov Katz, summarize it best with the headline of their article:
Olmert loads the gun but doesn't fire it

Olmert seems to use this more as a means of heightening the diplomatic pressure on the UN, France, Lebanon, etc. The problem is of course that the UN doesn't exactly seem determined to do something about Hizbullah, same goes for Lebanon. Does Olmert actually think that the stabilization force will be able and willing, to use force against Hizbullah if necessary (and it will be necessary if the solution for the problem will also mean that Hizbullah must disarm)?

*sigh*

The only thing that can be said for Bush and Olmert is that they're less dhimmified and concessionist than the American and Israeli left-wingers. It's a sign of our times that statesmen have to be complimented in such a way.
