Where There's A Lot Of Smoke, There's Usually A Little Bit Of Fire

From Little Green Footballs:

A cellphone video caught members of the Belgian neo-fascist parties Vlaams Belang and National Front—Luc Van Keerbergen and Michel Delacroix—in the act of singing a racist song in French, mocking the Holocaust.

Delacroix and Van Keerbergen have now been evicted from their parties, because they let a little too much slip out in public.

Translation of the song:

My little Jewish girl is in Dachau.
She is in unslaked lime.
She has left her ghetto, to be burnt alive.

That's not very funny. If they are trying to be funny, they aren't succeeding. If this is some kind of hip, ironic humor, based upon the, supposedly, groundless assumption that Vlaams Belang is steeped in racism, then still, I would have to say, it isn't funny.

My guess is these two guys think it's funny, because they think we attach too much signifigance to the Holocaust. In other words, my suspicion is these two men don't care much for Jews.

But, I guess maybe this is just a tiny minority of extremists.

From Yiddish News:

Brussels, Belgium - The leader of Belgium's far-right National Front party, Michel Delacroix, resigned today a few hours after he was shown on television singing a song making light of the Holocaust.

"Mr Delacroix, perfectly aware of what his actions would mean for him, has decided to resign from his post as president of the National Front," the party said in a statement, underlining that his act was "inadmissible."

In a video on public television's midday news, Delacroix was seen singing a song to the tune of "l'eau vive" by Jewish singer Guy Beart, but with the lyrics changed to tell the story of a Jewish woman sent to the gas chamber in Dachau.

He was sitting on a sunny terrace with a few friends as he sang.

The broadcast brought a swift reaction from the main Belgian organisation policing the fight against discrimination, which accused him of "Holocaust denial" and "inciting racial hatred."

Contacted, Delacroix said: "I can't remember having sung it, even if I have known the words for years."

The blind senator also raised some questions about whether the tape was authentic, although he thought it was probably filmed in Spain eight years ago.

"I can immediately see the bad taste in it, but even if there is something real in it, (the performance) was in no way public," he said.

Delacroix also raised the possibility that it was made public as an act of revenge, saying that he thought the tape might have been in a file for his divorce which he said "finished badly for my ex-wife a few months ago".

He suggested that a former member of the National Front who was recently ejected from the party might have been involved as well.

It also seems that a Vlaams Belang politician was arrested last week for organizing Nazi concerts.....
Organizers neo-Nazi concerts arrested

The federal police today arrested three suspects in connection with an investigation into the organization of a series of neo-Nazi concerts. It reports the federal prosecutor's office. There are suspects arrested in Antwerp, Bocholt and Gullegem, who also each time a search took place. There were computers and documents seized.

Vlaams Belang says if the rumors are true they'll throw him out....
"Vlaams Belang does not tolerate neo-Nazis"

If it is true that one of those arrested in the investigation into the organization of concerts by neo-Nazi Blood and Honor a few years ago was a candidate in a local election list of Vlaams Belang, then that person immediately put out the party. Dat meldt partijvoorzitter Bruno Valkeniers. Reports that party chairman Bruno falconers.

Vlaams Belang does still present a challenge. A Nazi past is well enough documented, and I was never persuaded by DeWinter's explainantions. But it seems clear that whether out of conviction or political strategy an element of the party will do the right thing when informed of Nazi collaborations by members. A hot fire produces less smoke than one that struggles to stay alight.

I don't think VB is entirelly as Johnson suggests, but is enough like that to warrant careful scrutiny. Careful in that we don't become complicit in the smear of actual freedom fighters that fight neo-Nazis within their party and facsists without.

Those in Belgium and Flanders to whom the main struggle is against the complete jihad complex MUST be mortified over and over.

Someone of these people must break away from this past, and this group and form something other, taking all those to whom these things represent ANATHEMA.

If not, then they will get the movement they deserve, and it will fail.

Enough already.
It's enough.

The president pro tempore (D) of the US Senate, fourth in line to the presidency, is a former Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan.

America's leading neo-Nazi (R) ran for Governor of Louisiana in the 1990s, garnering hundreds of thousands of votes.

I certainly hope that none of you voted for either of these racist parties, though to be fair the Republicans have since distanced themselves from David Duke. Robert Byrd remains a Democrat in good standing.

As you are surely aware, the Vlaams Belang is the largest political party in Flanders, population 6 million. They average between 800,000 - 1,000,000 votes per election. This is the equivalent of 40 - 50 million votes in the US, not too bad in a multi-party system.

Both the singer of the anti-Semitic song and the organizer of the neo-Nazi concert were immediately booted out of the VB. Not surprising since they are probably the most philo-Semitic and pro-Israel party in all of Europe. And of course you all know that the VB have members and elected officials of all races and religions.

This story was broken by the anti-European and anti-Christian website Little Green Footballs. If you read through the comment threads of these stories, and I know you did Pastorius because I read your comment there, then you'll realize that they were a thinly veiled excuse for the blog owner to bash his newest bete noire, Robert Spencer. He also put the blog Powerline on notice, not appreciating their coverage of VB member Bart Debie's show trial in Belgium. Did I miss IBA's coverage of this travesty of justice?

I just hope that one day the Democratic Party, which now controls the White House, Senate, Congress, and the large majority of Governorships and State legislatures, will expell their racists as swiftly as the VB has done in these cases. Right?

Hi Jeppo,
I don't keep up on all stories. I don't know anything about the Bart Debie story. And, I never read Powerline, so as it is their story, I wouldn't know it.

Is it important for me to know about? Have I missed something important?

I don't side with Charles in this whole debacle. I'm with Robert Spencer. I think reasonable people can differ on the VB.

That being said, I am not on your side. I don't think they are the most philo-Semitic and pro-Israel party in Europe. I think that is a pose and a sham. And, I think some Jews are being taken in by it, and I think that is a shame.

Hi Pastorius,
Powerline's crime in CJ's eyes was merely linking to Gates of Vienna about the Debie debacle. Here is a roundup of the story from GoV:

http://gatesofvienna.blogspot.com/2008/11/bart-debie-and-frank-vanhecke-link.html

Basically Debie, a former policeman turned VB politician, was charged with racism and sentenced to a year in jail because cops under his command, not him mind you, allegedly uttered racial slurs at some Muslim criminals. It's just another chapter in the Belgian establishment's attempt to destroy the VB and their most prominent members, justice and fairness be damned.

I'm glad to see you side with Spencer on this. Trying to destroy the reputation of America's leading anti-jihadist scholar is a new low, even for Charles.

I too think reasonable people can differ on the VB. Your contention that their philo-Semitism is a pose and a sham is certainly possible. But in Belgian electoral politics, support for Israel is a major vote loser, surely costing them popular support. Every other political party in Belgium leans toward the Palestinians, including other Flemish nationalists like the LD and N-VA. If they were only interested in political power than they too would jump on the pro-Pali bandwagon, don't you think? I think their staunch support of Israel, along with their separatism, is why the Eurabians that presently run that country are so determined to destroy them as a political option.

My understanding is that the majority of Flemish Jews do NOT support the VB, just as the majority of Jews don't support the Republicans and Conservatives in the US and Canada respectively. But they are strongly supported by Antwerp's Orthodox community, the most visible section of Flemish Jewry, and not coincidently the Jews that have taken the brunt of Muslim anti-Semitism. They see the VB as their protectors, not their enemies.

Pastorius said...

Hi Jeppo,
I'm not so sure the Orthodox community in Antwerp is as supportive of VB as you think.

for instance, the Belgian paper which broke the story about the VB politician caught singing the Holocaust song was

Yiddish News.

As for the info you give me about VB's stance on Israel being against the mainstream in Belgium. I would believe that. But, the mainstream is not the whole stream. Triangulation is an effective method.

I'm not sayiing I'm right about that, but it would certainly make sense that, if there are no other parties supporting Israel, then a party which does, would garner votes through triangulation.

Pastorius said...

Of course, that's wild speculation on my part. I have no evidence to support it.

jeppo said...

That's an interesting point about triangulation. The sad part being that there seems to be so little support for Israel amongst the European masses that only far-right parties like the VB and Wilders' PVV are willing to stick their necks out and strongly back Israel, whether for righteous or phony reasons. The Eurabian brainwashing seems to be almost complete.
