Kinda Waaay off Topic

Just because it's been a long year without vacation (until today) or just because I can't sleep or just because the Wild Turkey has tasted extra fine tonight or just because. . .

In hope of a quiet news week and because this kind of thing would piss off the ummah and caliphate to no end. . .

(Pastorius should love this)

Let's assemble Heaven's all-star jam band. I'd say the only rule is all musicians must have already gone on before us but, this is IBA, so there ain't no rules.

My votes:

Electric Guitar:

Duane Allman, Lowell George

Acoustice & 12 String Guitars:

Jerry Garcia & Leadbelly

Keyboards:

Thelonius Monk & Oscar Peterson

Horns:

Miles Davis, Charlie Parker & John Coltrane

The Bottom End ---

Bass:

Charlie Mingus & Jaco Pastorius

Drums:

John "Bonzo" Bonham

And, of course --

Vocals:

Janis Joplin

Set List:

The Weight

Straight, No Chaser

Coyote

Goodbye, Pork Pie Hat (with lyrics by J. Mitchell)

Midnight Rider (c'mon, you knew)

The Thrill is Gone

Amazing Grace

Add to mine or create your own.

Have fun and Have at it

That's a weird band. I wonder how Mingus and Monk would groove with Duane Allman and John Bonham.

Yeah, Bonham had swing.

Maybe it would work.

I don't know. Think about Mingus and Monk jamming along on Elizabeth Reed. Duane or Lowell George adding a slithering slide bit to Pork Pie Hat. It was late. I was drinking. Fun to think about, anyway, when the Jihad loons have your brain on overload.

In Memory of Elizabeth Reed would be fun to hear with all those musicians playing. That's for sure.

Goodbye Pork Pie Hat? Yeah, but no room for Bonzo.

:)

You just picked up a hitcher, a prisoner of the white lines on the freeway.
