Respect the Sensibilities

Muhammad Tahir:

If anyone was under the misapprehension that the spawning of new sects to sew discord amongst Muslims was an old trick confined to the dustbin of colonial history, better think again.

The unholy West just won't quit!

This just in from Indonesia: western news outlets are reporting the arrest and trial of a certain Ahmad Moshaddeq who claims to be a prophet in the same manner as Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Asia-Pacific news quotes the number of his followers to be ~40,000.

One can guess the result.

Understandably, such proclamations of prophethood caused an outrage in Indonesia, whose population is over 90% Muslim.

Here's the undeniable "proof" of the connection between this modern prophet and the nefarious West:

If there was any doubt that most of these false prophets are nothing more than agent provacateurs one need only gauge the outcry in the western press over "religious intolerance" when local religious authorities try to clarify the issue of such proclamations taking one out of the fold of Islam. Furthermore, the local governments are usually taken to task for "treatment of religious minorities" if steps are made to calm the resultant public unrest by arresting such individuals.

It's amazing how nonchalantly and casually the author makes these two points:

  1. A Muslim cannot leave his religion. Therefore, anyone who makes such an attempt or anyone who influences a Muslim in such a negative manner deserves to be arrested.
  2. Muhammad is the last prophet. A person who says otherwise hurts the tender sensibilities of Muslims. Therefore, the hurt Muslims should be appeased; that person should be thrown in jail.

Remember, this totalitarian mindset is good. Those who oppose it -- liberal Westerners -- are the evil ones.

The other interesting thing about spontaneous deviant sects is that they invariably espouse "moderate" forms of Islam that are more palatable to the West: religion confined to a private and individualised "hobby" and the West is our friend (and sponsor...).

That's right. Islam should be publicly enforced and -- this can't be repeated often enough -- the West is the wicked enemy of Muslims.

Danish MP's: Iranians Must Be Nuts

Watching Danish flags burn in Pakistan and Gaza as a response to the republication of the Mohammed cartoons, it is easy to conclude that nothing has changed since the original publication. But that would be wrong for lessons have been learned.

This time the Danes are more united and more determined to defend their own freedoms.

This time the Danish press acted as one. 23 newspapers reprinted the cartoons on the same day.

The message of defiance was clear and inhibited the ability of politicians to kow tow to Muslim "sensitivities."

Iranian failure to take this into account led to its humiliating rebuff. The Foreign Affairs Committee of the Danish parliament was about to visit their Iranian counterparts. The Iranian Parliamentarians notified their future guests that they will refuse to meet with them unless an apology for the republication of the cartoons precedes the Danish MPs. The Danes responded by canceling the visit.

Cultural understanding, they insisted, is a two way street.

"The Iranian Parliament wanted our delegation to present an official
apology to Iran. We said 'absolutely not'...We cannot do that, it would be a
violation of freedom of expression," the committee's deputy chairman Jeppe Kofod
said.

The nine members of the foreign policy committee were to visit Iran
from Monday to Wednesday to discuss human rights and Iran's nuclear program.

"They told us they would not meet us unless we apologized. And they
knew we would not present any apology, they know our democracy doesn't work that way," Mr Kofod said.

According to my Danish friend, they were even more empathetic:

The committee unanimously refused to deliver an apology for what Danish
free media prints, and has canceled the planed trip to Iran, and has on public
TV said that the Iranians must be nuts (Yes, these were the words
), to come up
with such demands, and that there's no way Danish politicians are going to visit
the country under such conditions.

Further more a dictatorship should not impose demands on a free
democracy such as Denmark.

Danes have also began to figure out novel legal ways to deal with young Muslim arsonists who continue to riot for the sixth night.

Some common Danes take out their digital cameras and film the youngsters (mainly
second generation disaffected immigrants 13 to 18 years old). They, then, mail
the pictures to the police, who more and less then can drive home to the
criminals and pick them up.

It is easy to write off free people. The democratic diffusion of power makes it more difficult to organize. Still, given a bit of time they do and when they have always won. The behavior of little Denmark gives us hope that they will continue to do so.

Breaking News: Bush Has A Feeling For Africa

I've got a feeling
A feeling deep inside, oh yeah
I've got a feeling
A feeling I can't hide, oh no
Oh no, I've got a feeling
--- The Beatles, I've Got A Feeling

George Bush, apparently, is doing policy-making based upon his feelings. The idea of Western Civilization is that it is a culture based upon rationality and the Judeo-Christian paradigm. But, George Bush, it seems, has a different idea. He is going to make policy based upon his feelings.

How sweet.

Only a commitment to policy-making by feeling could come up with such a stupid idea as power-sharing in Kenya. Would Bush want to have spent the last eight years sharing power with Al Gore?

And, of course, Raila Odinga (who Bush wants to be in on the power-sharing deal in Kenya) has an agreement with a powerful Muslim organization to impose Sharia law after he is in power.

From the BBC:

Bush urges Kenya power-sharing

I've got a firm, heartfelt commitment to the continent of Africa

President George W Bush

Full interview transcript

President Bush says Africa has been a foreign policy priority Bush interview

US President George W Bush has backed calls for a power-sharing agreement to end weeks of strife in Kenya following disputed presidential elections.

He said he was sending his secretary of state to Kenya to convey the message.

Mr Bush was speaking in Benin, at the start of his first presidential tour of Africa since 2003.
He said he would highlight African success stories during his six-day, five-nation visit, even though he remained committed to ending turmoil.

Democratic reform, economic and military assistance, and the fight against HIV/Aids are expected to be raised.

The US president also wants to allay concerns about a new military command he wants to base in Africa to work with African militaries to deal with trafficking or terror.

PRESIDENT BUSH'S ITINERARY

Benin - Cotonou: arrival ceremony, meets president

Tanzania - Dar-es-Salaam: meets president, tours hospital; Arusha: tours hospital, textile mill and girls' school

Rwanda - Kigali: meets president, visits genocide memorial

Ghana - Accra: meets president, state dinner. ["Bush-meat" will not be served]
Liberia - Monrovia: meets president, visits university

So far, Liberia is the only nation to have offered to host the US base. There are already some 1,700 US troops in Djibouti.

Speaking after talks with Benin's President Thomas Boni Yayi, Mr Bush said Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was going to Kenya to help efforts to resolve the impasse - led by former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan.

"The key is that the leaders hear from her first hand that the United States desires to see that there be no violence and that there be a power-sharing agreement that will help this nation resolve its difficulties," Mr Bush told reporters.

Kenya's rival political parties have agreed to set up an independent panel to review last year's disputed elections.

But a possible power-sharing agreement has not been reached.

The opposition has accused President Mwai Kibaki of rigging the poll.

The dispute has led to protests, in which at least 1,000 people have died and 600,000 have fled their homes.

Malaria pledge

Speaking at a news conference with President Yayi, Mr Bush renewed his pledge to help Benin, with which the US plans to provide mosquito nets to every child under five, to help tackle malaria.

"I stand here by your side as a friend, a believer in your vision and a partner in your willingness to confront the disease and poverty that affect mankind," he said as he was receiving the Grand Cross of the Order of Benin earlier.

Mr Bush said he had skipped conflict areas to highlight success stories during his Africa trip.
"When you herald success, it helps others realize what it possible," said the US president, who is now heading to Tanzania.

He called for urgent action over the "genocide" in Sudan's region of Darfur, where at least 200,000 people have died and two million been displaced in a five-year conflict.

[Please note; The Sudan genocide of the Christian population has resulted in the deaths of at least 2 million non-Muslim Sudanese within the last 20 years., and not "200,000" as the State Dept. hand-out has stated]

In a BBC interview prior to his tour, the US president defended his Darfur stance, saying he had not wanted to send US troops into another Muslim country.

Compassionate

For a president whose foreign policy has been defined by Iraq this visit is an opportunity to show the more compassionate side of his legacy, says the BBC's Laura Trevelyan who is traveling with Mr Bush.

America has spent $15bn (£7.5bn) fighting Aids overseas since 2003, and Mr Bush has recently asked Congress to double that amount.

I've got a firm, heartfelt commitment to the continent of Africa President George W Bush
More than one million people in sub-Saharan Africa have life-saving anti-retroviral drugs thanks to the policy.

However the policy has been criticised by some for focusing on encouraging people not to have sex in order to stop the spread of Aids - unrealistic critics say.

However, international aid agencies have said US trade policy in Africa may undermine struggling African economies.

Benin relies on cotton production, for instance - but cannot compete with US cotton because of the large subsidies paid to US farmers.

Analysts say Mr Bush may also be concerned with countering the influence of China - which has been doing billions of dollars worth of trade deals in Africa.

Obama's Church Has Muslims As Members?!?

The story is, one Usama Dakdok called the church and asked if the fact that he was a Muslim would preclude him from joining the church. They said, "No. We have lot of Muslims as members."

Press Release: America is being fooled by Barak Hussein Obama!!

We ask for your immediate attention, and viral dissemination of this news.

America is being fooled by Barak Hussein Obama!!

"YES, MUSLIMS ARE MEMBERS IN OUR CHURCH."

"WE HAVE MANY MEMBERS IN OUR CHURCH WHO ARE MUSLIMS."

I am Usama K. Dakdok, President of The Straight Way of Grace Ministry. I am invited by churches all over America to speak about ISLAM and its threat to America and the West.
I have had concerns about Senator Obama's honesty regarding his so called Christian faith.
I called The United Church of Christ in Chicago Illinois, where Senator Obama is a member.

If Senator Obama were indeed a Christian, he would be regarded as an "Apostate" which according to Islamic Law, would mean he would be subject to a death warrant imposed upon anyone who leaves Islam, according to the Prophet Mohammed. Many muslims who have left Islam have been murdered on this basis worldwide. Putting Islamic law aside, Obama would still be condemned by Islam.

However, in Senator Obama's instance, Muslims in America are joyously happy to think that Obama would be a Muslim President in the white House. Obama is deceiving America. Muslims would not be endorsing a Muslim who left Islam and became a Christian.

It is important to note that I had four witnesses to this telephone conversation with his church. The date, time and length of the entire conversation can be verified by phone records. The following is the conversation I had with the church, regarding his membership there.
"My name is Usama, and I am from Egypt. I am interested in joining the church. I need to ask some questions please."

The operator directed me to the membership office.

I proceeded to ask questions that only a Muslim would ask.

"What is the difference between Baptists and your church?"

She responded, " We believe exactly what Baptists believe."

My second question was, "How big is your church and what kind of church is it?"

She responded, "We are a Black African American Church and we have 6000 members.

I asked, "Do I have to attend Sunday school classes or other meetings to be a member?"

She answered "No."

I asked, "Do I have to be baptized to join the church?"

She again answered, "No."

I asked, "Do I have to pay a membership Fee to join?"

Her answer was No.

I then asked her what I needed to do to join. She told me that I needed to attend two Sunday School classes in a row and then I would walk the aisle. I replied, "That sounds easy.

One last question please. IF I AM MUSLIM AND I BELIEVE IN PROPHET MOHAMMED, PEACE BE UPON HIM AND I ALSO BELIEVE IN JESUS, PEACE BE UPON HIM, DO I HAVE TO GIVE UP MY ISLAMIC FAITH TO BE A MEMBER IN YOUR CHURCH?"

SHE ANSWERED, "NO. WE HAVE MANY MUSLIM MEMBERS IN OUR CHURCH."

It is important to note that Muslims would not attend church.

I asked her, "Is that how Senator Barak Hussein Obama became a member?"

There was silence.

I went on and stated that his father and step father were Muslims, his grandfathers and grandmother are Muslims, his uncles and aunts, nephews and nieces and cousins are Muslims and everyone in his family in Kenya are Muslims.

She replied to me, "I am sorry, I cannot answer these questions for you."

I of course sensed she was uncomfortable. I ended the conversation by saying to her, "YOUR CHURCH HAS DONE GREAT HARM TO THIS COUNTRY BY COVERING A WOLF IN SHEEPS CLOTHING AND THAT WOLF IS SENATOR BORAK HUSSEIN OBAMA."

End of phone call.

This is fraud to the people of the United States of America.

Sincerely,

Usama Dakdok

P.S. I am willing to expose this to the media in all outlets.

God Bless America

Send inquiries to SonsofApesAndpigs@gmail.com
To be fair, it is possible that the person who answered the phone is not representing church policy correctly. Additionally, it is possible that it is church policy to not turn away people from the church upon first meeting, no matter what condition they come to the church in (whether Muslim, homeless, crack whore, drunk, etc.)
That actually would be consistent with the teachings of Christ.
On the other hand, it would not at all be consistent with the teaching of Christ to say that Muslims are also Christians.

The "Sorry Mohammed" Contest

Calling all Infidels, let's fall all over ourselves to find out who can say "sorry" in the most appropriate way.

"Mohammed, I'm so sorry that I dropped you in a jar of urine."

Some pussy named Anders Boetter (is that pronouned "beater" by any chance?) has initiated a new campaign on Facebook to offer up the apology of all apologies in the wake of the re-emergence of the dread drawings of blasphemy:

The controversy in Denmark over the reprinting of one of the 12 cartoons satirising the Prophet Muhammad this week has triggered an unusual dialogue on social networking group Facebook, writes the BBC's religious affairs correspondent Frances Harrison.

The row began with Tuesday's arrests of three Muslims in Denmark said by the intelligence services to be plotting to kill one of the cartoonists.

All the major Danish newspapers next day rallied round their colleague, reprinting his drawing of the Prophet Muhammad with a bomb in his turban as a sign of solidarity.

"Mohammed, I'm so sorry I could shit."

But now young Danish student Anders Boetter says he has decided to start a Facebook site called Sorry Muhammad to apologise to Muslims on behalf of ordinary Danes and also give them a voice in the controversy over the row.

Anders says that in the last two years since the first printing of the cartoons, the media has built up a debate which is very black-and-white.

"Either you were for the Muhammad drawings or you were against it, but I believe there are many Danes who do not feel that way - they're somewhere in between and I am one of them," he explains.

"I am myself an atheist, but I do respect any kind of religion," he says, adding that the cartoons therefore do not offend him but he understands that it "hurts the feelings of Muslims a lot".

During the first cartoon crisis in 2006, Anders says he e-mailed his Muslim friends around the world to apologise.

When all the major newspapers reprinted the cartoon on Wednesday he felt there needed to be a reaction from what he calls "everyday Danish citizens".

"What does hurt my feelings is when a Danish newspaper publishes these very mocking cartoons of Muhammad.

"For me this is not a matter of a drawing but the mocking of one of our minority groups in Denmark and that's a big problem. That is why I apologise for being a Dane coming from Denmark," Anders explains.

In the first 24 hours, more than 1,000 people joined the Sorry Muhammad network.

Anders' goal is to collect 10,000 members in 14 days - which would be a significant feat since the total number of Danes on Facebook is 300,000 so far.

He calls the response "shockingly fast" but admits that he has also received some hostile e-mails.

One says: "If you have no brains at all, move to Iran you stupid ****," while another reads: "I hope you know what it's like to have someone plotting to kill you."

"Mo, I'm so sorry I wiped my ass with your holy book. It is soft as Charmin though."

"Perhaps you can expect this when you start mingling with national feelings," Anders says calmly.

In election 2008, don’t forget Angry White Man

Between the African-Americans, Hispanic-Americans, Asian-Americans, Native-Americans, and other hyphenated American groups so dear to the divide and conquer strategy of the liberal progressives, there is only one ethnic group that are real Americans. The ones without a hyphen – the everyday soon to be a minority The Angry White Man. Hat tip to Chip.

From the Aspen Times Weekly.

There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smorgasbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and transgender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians.

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victimhood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.

OBAMA, THE TRAVELLING PREACHER - HE SPEAKS - WOMEN FAINT

I've heard Obama referred to as a snake-oil salesman. The thing is, snake-oil salesman, like traveling Revivalist preachers, had a schtick they did everywhere they went. Often, their schtick included an "audience-member" who would be magically healed by whatever snake-oil the traveling salesman was selling.

It seems Obama has been caught doing this old trick. Check this out:

Obama is “The Man” women are fainting in the crowd just like when Sinatra was on stage. Today in New Hampshire a woman just fainted and last month at an Opra rally they were dropping like Flies.

Jim Vicevich, our Connecticut WTIC morning radio conservative talk host, notes the eerie similarity of female fainting episodes at Obama rallies.

James Taranto’s “The Best of the Web Today” picks up this theme in a posting today.“James Vicevich, a Connecticut radio talk show host, takes note of yet another creepy element of the Obama campaign.

It happened here in Hartford
….Throughout the speech, Obama kept a close eye on the crowd. Upon hearing a
small group begin chanting “We can’t wait” — a phrase Obama had just used — he
pointed them out with an outstretched arm, and within seconds the entire arena
was chanting the phrase in unison.

And when a woman appeared to faint in the standing-only VIP section in
front of the podium, Obama paused his speech for over a minute as he directed
the crowd to make way for an EMT team and tossed a bottle of water from the
stage.

From James Taranto at the Wall Street Journal:

We Shall Be Overcome

James Vicevich, a Connecticut radio talk show host, takes note of yet another creepy element of the Obama campaign. Consider these reports from Obama rallies:

Montecito, Calif., Sept. 8, 2007. "A woman standing in front of the stage appeared to faint as Obama spoke about Iraq," the Associated Press reported. "The candidate paused and asked the crowd to make way for firefighters. One supporter shouted, 'You're a good man,' leaving Obama momentarily at a loss for words. 'Well, I'm not the only one stopping to help her,' he said, sounding almost embarrassed."

Madison, Wis., Oct. 22, 2007. "This excitement mirrored the aura in the room that grew throughout his speech," reported WISN-TV. "Before the senator arrived, students were tossing around an inflatable cow above the crowd. Three people fainted in the midst of all the enthusiasm."

Hanover, N.H., Jan. 8, 2008. "Barack Obama's first and only rally on election day came to a sudden and lengthy stop when a young woman in the Dartmouth College gym fainted, and was eventually rolled off on a gurney by emergency medical technicians," the Los Angeles Times reported. "At first Obama half-narrated the episode, saying soothing things like, 'She's OK,' 'She's talking.' But the longer she lay on the floor, the quieter Obama got, standing on the podium, arms folded, looking worried as the medical crew worked." Minneapolis's WCCO-TV has video showing Obama handing a bottle of water to the Dartmouth damsel in distress.

Hartford, Conn., Feb. 4, 2008. "And when a woman appeared to faint in the standing-only VIP section in front of the podium, Obama paused his speech for over a minute as he directed the crowd to make way for an EMT team and tossed a bottle of water from the stage," reported the Yale Daily News.

Seattle, Feb. 8, 2008. "Climate change, the Iraq war and Obama tossing a bottle of water to a woman about to faint all received big cheers," MSNBC.com reported. "As Obama told the crowd to part so that the woman in question could leave and called for help, a young girl in the crowd shouted out, 'What a man!' The audience roared with laughter (although the press that has seen this happen before rolled its eyes)."

What exactly are we to make of this? A cynic might wonder if the whole thing isn't staged, given how often it happens and how well-honed and self-serving Obama's standard response seems to be.

Sci-Fi Jihadi Chic

I don't think you could convince me that these new designs, from Spring Fashion Eurabia, are not influenced by the Islamic Burqa. (brought to you by Death by 1000 Papercuts)

If the Jihadi idiots currently whipping up anger towards the West over cartoons had any sense, they would realize that this fashion is actually more Islamophobic than any of the dreaded drawings. The cartoons did not criticize Islam as a whole. They were, instead, drawn with a narrative in mind, a narrative which said, "We must be able to speak freely, and we can not let terrorists stop us from doing so."

But, these fashion designs are actual ill-humored takes on the dehumanizing effects of Islam. By borrowing from Sci-Fi themes, the designer expresses his fear of the future under Islam.

Maybe Rage Boy, if he could just rediscover his old serious self, ought to be rioting about this.

The Muezzin Calling the Faithful to Prayer

The Muezzin’s call to prayer, al-Adhan (the ‘dh’ is pronounced as a ‘heavy’ ‘th’ as in ‘thee’) is a particularly mournful drone to sensitive Western ears. It is a most unfortunate din, one feels. Is this what we want in our own towns and villages? Somehow, I doubt it; yet it might well be coming to Oxford very shortly!

Play the following genuine call of the muezzin. I think you will agree that it doesn’t have the happy tones of the peeling of church bells. But then, no one said that the Qur’an was ‘the Good News’, or Gospel. On the contrary, the Qur’an is full of doom and gloom; so we shouldn’t be surprised when the call to prayer in Islam also sounds mournful, also sounds as though the muezzin is in agony! Listen here; see what you think:

Is Obama's Bill Really A "Global Tax"?

Yesterday, I posted on the new Obama-sponsored bill being rushed through the Senate by Joe Biden. In the post, the bill was referred to as a "Global Tax" bill, and the claim was that it "could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. "

To be truthful, though, I wondered to myself, is this really a "global tax"? Because, if it is, what right does the Congress have to levy such a tax, and do we want a President who would assume such a right?

Well, let's look at what is being said about the bill today:

The bill, which is item number four on the committee’s business meeting agenda, passed the House by a voice vote last year because most members didn’t realize what was in it. Congressional sponsors have been careful not to calculate the amount of foreign aid spending that it would require.

According to the website of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, no hearings have been held on the Obama bill in that body.

A release from the Obama Senate office about the bill declares, “In 2000, the U.S. joined more than 180 countries at the United Nations Millennium Summit and vowed to reduce global poverty by 2015. We are halfway towards this deadline, and it is time the United States makes it a priority of our foreign policy to meet this goal and help those who are struggling day to day.”

The legislation itself requires the President “to develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to further the United States foreign policy objective of promoting the reduction of global poverty, the elimination of extreme global poverty, and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goal of reducing by one-half the proportion of people worldwide, between 1990 and 2015, who live on less than $1 per day.” The bill defines the term “Millennium Development Goals” as the goals set out in the United Nations Millennium Declaration, General Assembly Resolution 55/2 (2000).

The U.N. says that “The commitment to provide 0.7% of gross national product (GNP) as official development assistance was first made 35 years ago in a General Assembly resolution, but it has been reaffirmed repeatedly over the years, including at the 2002 global Financing for Development conference in Monterrey, Mexico.

So, to me that sounds like an international tax. However, apparently, this is a committment that we agreed to 35 years ago. If so, then the original mistake is an old one, and was committed by Richard Nixon?!?!?

Let's face it, the minute we open ourselves up to such a tax from the UN, they will find more reasons and ways to tax us.

Here are some other questions to ponder at the same time, though. Is not the paying of any due to the United Nations also a tax? Where do taxes begin, and committments end? Is a temporary committment a tax? Is it worthwhile to make temporary financial committments to various countries around the world as part of our foreign policy? Can these committments aid us in our own self-interest? Is so, are they then to be considered taxes, or bargaining chips?

Let me know what you think.

Does Rage Boy Believe His Own Press?

The downfall of most celebrities comes when the individual human being becomes a cariacature of himself, based upon the sum of what the press says about him.

Look at this recent photo of rage boy and tell me that isn't "Rage Boy" kitsch. I mean, does he not look like he's doing schtick at this point?

"C'mon Rage Boy, stand over here next to the Green Flag, and, you know, give us "the face."

How much longer until we have Rage Boy Bobbleheads on dashboards across the Middle East?

I mean, I'm starting to kind of dig Rage Boy, aren't you? Certainly, no protest in the name of the Propeht would be complete without his frothing face.

Winds of War: “The Most Committed Wins”

In the movie, The Siege, which, by the way, was before 9-11 and had no trouble portraying terrorists as Muslims, the CIA agent told the FBI agent that in the war on terror, “The Most Committed Wins”.

Over at Sultan Knish, they pose a question.

Two men are locked in a single room. One has a knife and the other has a machine gun. One is determined to kill the other. Which one will walk out of that room alive?

The paradox of civilization is that superior force on the battlefield requires an industrial and intellectual culture capable of producing the technological innovations that make victory possible. Yet this is not a straight line progression, instead civilizations that use technology to create truly advanced and prosperous societies also hit what we might call Huxley's Peak, the point at which creature comforts and social decadence make the idea of force itself sublimely unattractive so that the very industrial and intellectual culture that creates a superior technological military also hamstrings it.

Now let's go back to the two men in the room.

One has a knife and one has a machine gun. One is determined to kill the other. Which one will walk out of that room alive? The answer is, the one who is determined to kill the other. A weapon is no good unless it is used. Using a weapon as a bluff only works once at most and it stops working if your opponent is willing to take the risk or knows you won't use it.

The nature of the world is two men in a room, one has a gun and one has a knife. The man with the gun insists on trying to reason with the man with the knife, to enlighten him and democratize him. The man with the knife meanwhile grins and creeps closer and takes a few swipes at him. In return the man with the gun threatens him, waves the gun around and occasionally takes a shot at him to warn him away, without really trying to hit him. Is it any real mystery who will emerge alive from this conflict?

More important than the ability to fight is the willingness to fight.

Remember how Indian Jones answered the question?

What Does The Muslim Brotherhood Support?

For one thing, the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood seems to favor female genital mutilation:
The Religious Affairs Committee at the People's Assembly has discussed questions tabled by MB [Muslim Brotherhood] deputies al-Sayyid Askar and Ali Laban on the action taken by the Awqaf Ministry of printing and distributing booklets on the female circumcision. The two deputies made strong accusations to the Awqaf Ministry of squandering public funds by printing and distributing thousands of copies of a booklet that has already been printed twice under the provocative title of "female circumcision is not part of the Islamic rites."

The two deputies have also accused the Awqaf Ministry of violation of the constitution and law. MB Deputy Askar said that this title was in conflict with the consensus of the fiqh experts [Islamic jurisprudents] that female circumcision was one of Islam's rites.

[...]

Another member of the MB Parliamentary bloc Mahir Aql has warned against the danger of this campaign [against female genital mutilation] which seeks to undermine the Islamic Shari'ah....
Who gets the blame?
[S]uspect foreign bodies, some of which are Christian evangelical while the others were Jewish, were behind the financing of the campaign against female circumcision
and
[T]he government seeks from this [anti-FGM] campaign to uproot Islam in order to please the West and to appease the suspect Zionist-US organizations.
So, opposing the mutilation of girls and women is a conspiracy against Islam? Infidels and modern Muslims cannot agree that such a practice is barbarism?

Note: Today's edition of The Gathering Storm Radio Show will include a discussion of FGM with our guest Cassandra. Maybe Cassandra, WC, and I will be considered fatwah-worthy?

Speaking of the most liberal senator in the USA ...

As we all probably know Obama has been rated as the most liberal in the Senate. However, we have in the Senate one who really should be more 'liberal' in terms of what the left considers 'social programs', 'social justice', and government right to tell you and I what is right (e.g. compulsory).

Bernie Sanders, the self avowed socialist ex-mayor of Burlington, Vermont, elected as an independent 'progressive', too left to be a democrat?

What does it mean that Obama is to his left?

MANAGUA, Nicaragua: President Daniel Ortega, who led the 1979 revolution in Nicaragua, says Barack Obama's presidential bid is a "revolutionary" phenomenon in the United States.

"It's not to say that there is already a revolution under way in the U.S. ... but yes, they are laying the foundations for a revolutionary change," the Sandinista leader said Wednesday night as he accepted an honorary doctorate from an engineering university.

Ortega led a Soviet-backed government that battled U.S.-supported Contra rebels before he lost power in a 1990 election. He returned to office last year via the ballot box.

In statements broadcast on Sandinista Radio La Primerisima, Ortega said he has "faith in God and in the North American people, and above all in the youth, that the moment of great change in the U.S. will come and it will act differently, with justice and equality toward all nations."

Juveniles from immigrant families, and a master stroke of understatement from Denmark

Danish authorities are blaming juveniles from immigrant families for burning down a school in a suburb of Copenhagen as well as for a rash of car and trash receptacle burnings in several Danish cities, media reported Feb. 15. A government spokesman said some of the violence is believed to be connected to the reprinting of a cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed in leading Danish newspapers.

The papers said they republished the controversial cartoon after a plot to kill the artist, Kurt Westergaard, was uncovered.
I wonder if this govt spokesman was at all embarrassed to be uttering these words.
I wonder if we can ever give Westergaard, and the editors and publishers of these newspapers the kind of kudos they really deserve for upholding the things we hold dear over here.

Maybe the US and/or Israel will really get a chance to accomplish something

Iran Postpones Talks with the United States

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said Feb. 14 that Iran is postponing talks with the United States. The talks, slated for Feb. 15, likely will take place later, after the situation surrounding Hezbollah militant Imad Mughniyah's death has cooled down.
x-lation - Maybe YOU did this but even if you didn't the little satan, your whelp did, and we expect that shortly WE will be doing something.

And when they do, I hope that we know what to do.
Here is a STRATFOR analysis:
There likely are internal disagreements within the Iranian political establishment on how to proceed in the wake of the Mughniyah killing. The U.S. move to welcome Mughniyah's assassination likely has the Iranians wondering about U.S. intentions. If Iran suspects that Israel and the United States are colluding to draw Hezbollah into a confrontation and Tehran suspects that Washington is willing to meet Israel's demand to include Hezbollah as a concession to extract from Iran, Tehran has a lot of thinking and planning to do before it can take any big steps.
I hope we are planning that well. I doubt it.

British House Of Commons Motion # 666 - The Disestablishment Of The Church Of England

Eery? Uncanny? Do you have chills going up your spine? (Or, is this just a hoax?)

UPDATE: from the London Times via Najistani, this is not a hoax, after all.

From Assist News

666 raises it’s ugly head in British House of Commons debateBy Michael IrelandChief Correspondent, ASSIST News Service

LONDON, ENGLAND (ANS) -- Whether or not you are a student of prophecy, a conspiracy theorist, or dabble in the art of biblical numerology, you may find interesting or disturbing the fact that a motion calling for the disestablishment of the Church of England has been listed in the British House of Commons as 666 -- the Number of the Beast.

According to Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent of The Times, Labour Member of Parliament (MP) John Austin, who has repeatedly tabled Early Day Motions urging disestablishment, put down his latest motion last night as MPs debated scrapping Britain's blasphemy laws.

The motion appeared on the House of Commons order paper numbered 666, the number associated with the Antichrist in the Book of Revelation. Some scholars believe 666 referred to the Emperor Nero, Gledhill reported.

The King James Bible renders Revelation 13:8 as: "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

Bob Russell, Liberal Democrat MP for Colchester and one of the signatories, said: “It is incredible that a motion like this should have, by chance, acquired this significant number. This number is supposed to be the mark of the Devil. It looks as though God or the Devil have been moving in mysterious ways."

Russell added: “What is even stranger is that this motion was tabled last night when MPs were debating blasphemy.”

According to Gledhill, the motion is unlikely to be debated. "But momentum for looser ties between Church and State is growing, as the support for the repeal of the blasphemy law illustrates. The blasphemy law favors Christianity and in particular the Church of England," she says.

Pastorius comment: My understanding (and perhaps some of our British writers and commenters can enlighten us) is that the very reason the House of Commons is considering repealing the blasphemy law is because of fear it may be used by Islamic radicals to justify prosecution for criticism of Islam.

Gledhill writes that although the attempt by Liberal Democrat MP Evan Harris to amend the Criminal Justice Bill was unsuccessful, the Prime Minister Gordon Brown has disclosed that he is consulting with the churches about its repeal.

A report by the Associated Press (AP) on Newsday.com says the beast of the Book of Revelation "intruded into the banter of the House of Commons" on Thursday when a motion calling for the disestablishment of the Church of England was numbered 666.

The last book of the Bible says 666 is the number of a beast that "had two horns like a lamb, and…spake as a dragon," and that "doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men."

The motion simply states: "That this House calls for the disestablishment of the Church of England" -- in other words ending its status as the country's legally established, official faith.

The AP report says that such motions rarely result in any action, but are used by members to publicize issues. Other members may sign the motion as an indication of support. By Thursday afternoon, the number of the signers was three.

The Church of England, created by King Henry VIII's breach with Rome, is the legally established faith in England. The monarch, by law, is obliged to be a member, and has the title of Supreme Governor of the church.

"Eyebrows were raised in the House of Commons on Thursday when a motion calling for the Church of England to be disestablished was listed with the number 666, symbol of the AntiChrist," says an Agence France Presse (AFP) report carried byYahoo!NewsUK.

"This number is supposed to be the mark of the Devil. It looks as though God or the Devil have been moving in mysterious ways," said Bob Russell, a Liberal Democrat MP among those proposing the motion for debate. What is even stranger is that this motion was tabled last night when MPs were debating blasphemy," he added.

The motion calls for an end to the formal link between Church and State in England -- embodied in the monarch, Queen Elizabeth II, who is both head of state and head of the Church of England.
The number 666 is referred to in the Book of Revelation in the Bible: "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast for it is the number of a man; and his number is six hundred, three score and six."

"It is incredible that a motion like this should have, by chance, acquired this significant number," said Russell.

Under the rules of the House of Commons the motion by backbenchers has little chance of actually being debated in parliament.

A web-search revealed an article by the Christian think-tank Ekklesia calling for disestablishment of the Church of England following Prince Charles' engagement to Mrs. Camilla Parker-Bowles three years ago.

In that article, Ekklesia, the UK Christian think tank, was the first body publicly to call for moves towards the formal disestablishment of the Church of England in the wake of the engagement of Prince Charles and Ms Camilla Parker-Bowles, announced in February, 2005. Charles is heir to the British throne.

The think-tank was asking for an ecumenical reconsideration of church-state relations.

"The circumstances of this engagement clearly illustrate how inappropriate it is that the Church of England should remain established," said Ekklesia's director, Jonathan Bartley at the time. "As a state church, it has no say over its Supreme Governor and its interests remain subject to those of the Crown."

Bartley continued: "In decision-making about the Royal wedding the Church of England has been shown to be little more than a bit-part in constitutional affairs. It is time to end this humiliation and set the Church free."

Ekklesia pointed out that the Church is now in the anomalous position of having as its future Governor and Defender of the Faith a man who even the Archbishop of Canterbury cannot permit to re-marry in his own Church using the official liturgy he is meant to uphold.

The only reason Charles and Camilla could hold their civil wedding ceremony in the Chapel at Windsor is that it is a "royal peculiar," wholly owned and run on behalf of the Queen. "It is an embarrassment that the Church can be franchised in this way," Bartley commented.

Ekklesia believes that the case for disestablishment will be strengthened by the Church's current plight, but it stresses that the theological case for ending the state link is paramount, and has nothing immediately to do with the Prince's wedding.

"The Church of England is the only state church in the worldwide Anglican Communion," says Bartley. "That the Church should be subject to the Crown compromises its ability to proclaim and live the Gospel free of state interests. It inhibits equal relations with other Christian churches. And it is also inappropriate in a plural society. Faith cannot be imposed. It must remain a free choice."

Ekklesia pointed out that Christ's message of equality, justice and special concern for the poor stands in contradiction to the principle of Monarchy, which is based on privilege for the few through heredity.

The think tank also said that the blatant anti-Catholic bias of the 1701 Act of Settlement is "deplorable and sectarian." Were Ms Parker-Bowles a Catholic, the Prince of Wales and his heirs would automatically lose their right to accede to the Throne.

Ekklesia suggested that the Church of England should formally invite other denominations and church networks into "a fair, equal and theologically-grounded conversation about church-state relations and about ways of moving beyond Establishment," said Bartley.

By the way, this morning's bowel movement looked like the Virgin Mary.

Copenhagen Intifada Day 5

Northern Seer of the Astute Bloggers reports that Muslims have been rioting in Copenhagen, Denmark for the past five days:

Contrary to the skeptics who do not believe anything unless the BBC or CNN reports it, I assure you skirmishes continue across Denmark as episodes of street violence and arson are reported in Copenhagen and and its suburbs - notably Kokkedal and and a torched school in Bagsværd. Here is a map of reported occurences...
Isn't it interesting that this started right around the time those three Muslims were arrested for planning to kill MoToon cartoonist Kurt Weestergard?

Obama's Global Tax Bill Approved By Senate - Media Ignores

From Accuracy In Media

WASHINGTON, February 13, 2008 -- Accuracy in Media editor Cliff Kincaid disclosed today that a hugely expensive bill called the "Global Poverty Act," sponsored by Democratic Senator Barack Obama, was quickly passed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Wednesday and could result in the imposition of a global tax on the United States. Kincaid said that the major media's cover-up of the bill, which makes levels of U.S. foreign aid spending subservient to the dictates of the United Nations, demonstrates the media's desire to see Senator Obama elected to the presidency.

In a column posted on the AIM web site, Kincaid noted that Senator Joe Biden, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, was trying to rush Obama's "Global Poverty Act" (S. 2433) through his committee without hearings. The legislation would commit the U.S. to spending 0.7 percent of gross national product on foreign aid, which amounts to a phenomenal 13-year total of $845 billion over and above what the U.S. already spends. It was scheduled for a Thursday vote but was moved up a day, to Wednesday, and rushed through by voice vote. Kincaid learned, however, that conservative Senators have now put a "hold" on the legislation, in order to prevent it from being rushed to the floor for a full Senate vote.

The House version (H.R. 1302) was suddenly brought up on the House floor last September 25 and was passed by voice vote. House Republicans were caught off-guard, unaware that the pro-U.N. measure committed the U.S. to spending hundreds of billions of dollars. Kincaid's column notes that the official in charge of making nations comply with the U.N. Millennium Goals, which are prominently highlighted in the Obama bill, says a global tax will be necessary to force American taxpayers to provide the money.

Alien Phenomena?

I have oft referred to Muslims as the "Aliens From The Planet Islam" because you would be hard put to define some of the extremists as human. Their beliefs as laid out by the Quran, despite the lies that Islam is a religion of peace, are anti human in every way us normal human beings can figure out.

When you compare their religion to a cult such as Scientology it is quite obvious that Islam is little more than a cult also. A death cult. Both cults were started by somewhat demented characters with ridiculous claims. Hubbard claims he was taken into space by aliens and Muhamed claims that martyrs go to a paradise with 72 virgins.

In Europe their alien mosques are sprouting up like poisonous mushrooms, some of their followers are arrogant and dangerous. It reminds me of the description in the TV listings of a film I didn't watch; "The Chronicles of Riddick" starring Vin Diesel (2004); A planet hopping renegade is drawn into battle with a fanatical cult on a mission to kill or convert anyone in their way.

Sounds like Islam to me. So, what started me on this track? Well it was a posting today here on this site and the news that a Muslim country is taking steps to ban the "alien phenomena" of St Valentines Day. It's a one way track you see. If we object to their very alien mosques or loudspeaker calls to prayer that are Islamifying our English cities in a very visual and audial way then we are either Islamophobes or racists. Here's the original link

The problem is that would be too much fun and fun is not allowed in Islam, well, not as you and I would know it. Perhaps they get their fun in other ways. Beheadings, taking part in a good old stoning, watching the action on a hanging day, oh, and lots of other things.

Moral Equivalence

A Palestinian terrorist blew himself up in Dimona the other day, with the express motivation of killing civilians. He achieved his goal.

Hamas claimed responsibility.

Somehow video was preserved of the attack. The Guardian newspaper deemed the video to be newsworthy. It is certainly a document of an atrocious attack upon the Jewish people. Hamas Charter calls for death to the Jews in general (no mincing words about Zionists and invaders), so the attack was completely in line with their goal.

In that sense, the video was a document of Hamas achieveing their goal.

Now the video has been taken down. Here's what the Guardian has to say for itself:

Suicide attack hits Israeli town
The video that was previously on this page about the suicide bomb attack on the Israeli town of Dimona has been taken down following a series of complaints. The video should have included a more balanced selection of interviewees.

That's moral equivalence in action. The Guardian believes they can not merely show the video as a document of the event. Instead, the Guardian believes the video ought to have given equal time to the terrorists of Hamas, that they should have been given the opportunity to tell their side of the story.

Winds of War: Muslims Attack the Purveyor of Love

Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you send me a Valentines’ card
I’ll sue

The ever-tolerant Muslim world is condemning Valentine’s Day. Kuwaiti lawmakers are looking to amend the country's legislation to prevent the celebration of Valentine's Day.

"We are now studying the necessary amendments that would ban celebrations contradicting Sharia (Islamic Law)," said parliamentarian Jamaan al-Hirbish, part of panel examining "alien phenomena" being embraced by Kuwaitis.

Alien phenomena? What’s next? Banning Bigfoot?

Despite its Western origins, Valentine's Day appears to have been embraced by Kuwaitis and red balloons can be found all over restaurants, flower shops and stores selling chocolates. Newspapers are filled with advertisements for jewelry and cakes in the shape of hearts.

A public show of affection? By Muslims? Oh, no, we can have that!

ABC by Peter Hitchens

A thoughtful blogging from Peter Hitchens on the Archbish. It's long and rambling but I picked out the best bit:

. . . that's why I care about Rowan Williams, and his excursion into the subject of Sharia law. I may generally ignore Archbishop Rowan, as I have little time for his prose style, designed to conceal rather than reveal, in my view. And he seems to me to be a nitwit in worldly matters, having been a dupe of the disarmers back in 1985 - which rather devalues his later opposition to the Iraq war. My Church-of-England-in-exile continues to exist without him, and in spite of him and those like him.

But I am not sure it can survive indefinitely under such leadership. If parsons and bishops wish to rage against each other in factions, Catholic versus Evangelical, then that is a pity and I wish they would stop. There are better things for them to do. But if the man appointed to head the Christian Church in England declares that the adoption of some aspects of Sharia law "seems unavoidable" in this country; if he muses publicly about the possible recognition of Sharia courts in marital law, financial transactions and mediation (and he undeniably did both these things) then he is toying with something far bigger - the future of England (and Britain) as a Christian society.

For me, the main problem is not what he said, but that it was he who said it. A Muslim cleric, a Guardian leader-writer or a leading academic (perhaps Professor Howard Kirk, as he no doubt now is, Vice Chancellor of the University of Watermouth) might have mouthed this stuff ( and, yes, I have trudged and hacked my way through the whole verbal jungle) and that would have been that.

But for the Archbishop of Canterbury to do this is a clean different thing. Who else, in our ruling elite, is going to argue that we are and must remain a Christian nation, our laws based (as they are) on Christian precept? Crudely, Dr Williams is paid to defend the Christian faith. To say that something is 'unavoidable' is almost always to say that you aren't prepared to do anything to avoid it, or - worse - that you may actually favour it but daren't say so. Supporters of the European Single Currency would often claim that it, too, was 'inevitable, a very effective way of demoralising people who knew no better and didn't understand its importance. Most things are avoidable if you have the determination to fight them. Sharia law in Britain certainly is.

I also didn't like his attempt to say that only Muslim 'primitivists' held to the most worrying tenets of Sharia, or that worries about such things were 'dramatic fears'. This isn't so. Look how difficult it is to get Muslim spokesmen to denounce such things as the stoning of adulterous women, or Sharia's penalties for homosexuals. My discussion with Islamic scholars at Deoband a couple of years ago ( all calm, soft-spoken bearded scholars much like Dr Williams) left me pretty sure that they would never budge on things like the lesser position of women, or the death penalty for those who desert Islam. It couldn't be changed, they insisted.

So what is Dr Williams talking about when he speaks of "the free decision to be and continue a member of the umma" (umma being the Arabic name for the body of the Muslim faithful)?

Islam has many doors, but no exits. You cannot leave. This is regarded as non-negotiable by every Muslim cleric I have talked to. So what's this free decision to continue, that Dr Williams talks about?

There's nothing to be gained in calls for Dr Williams to resign. He's not the Home Secretary, and he serves under different rules from those that govern politicians. In any case, it would do no good unless he were replaced by someone better. That can only happen if the people of England decide to take back possession of their national church, and the church, revived, begins to find a new leadership less interested in faction and modernisation, and more interested in the reconversion of England to Christianity.

But, as I've warned before, if the Christian church doesn't take advantage of the approaching religious revival, which I think cannot be long delayed, someone else will. And that someone will argue much more powerfully for Sharia law than Rowan Williams ever did. And I can't see the Muslims, if they become a great force in Britain, paying much attention to the maintenance of a separate Christian law. They are serious and determined people, who believe staunchly in their religion and hope for its ultimate triumph. So, no, I don't think the Church of England should be allowed to die. We need it more than we ever have.

Islamic Jihad Cuisine

Careful with that curry, Karim
Are you ready to be totally disgusted? If not, don't read this.

When you buy food from Muslims in Britain, you never know what you're going to get:

A schoolgirl was murdered by a fast food shop owner who joked that she had been "chopped up" and put into kebabs, a court was told yesterday.

The prosecution alleged at Preston Crown Court that Charlene Downes, 14, was killed by Iyad Albattikhi, 29, owner of Funny Boyz fast food shop in Blackpool.
“Iranian immigrant sentenced for sprinking feces in grocery store Iranian immigrant Behrouz Nahidmobarekeh, a legal resident in the U.S. since 1978, has been sentenced to five years in prison for sprinkling dried feces on pastries in a Dallas, Texas grocery store.
He said he did it to get back at the store because the employees had been rude to him. He would dry his own feces, then grate it up with a cheese grater, and then go to the store and sprinkle it on the food.
After customers complained, a camera was set up and he was caught in the act. He expressed no remorse for what he had done, saying he was seeking to insult the store, not harm anyone.
I think Nahidmobarekeh is speaking the truth about his motives. For Arabs and Muslims (and since 98 percent of Iran’s population is Muslim, it’s overwhelmingly likely that he is one), shame and honor are everything. When Muslims kill, behead, and blow up people, they’re not doing it to harm their victims; they’re doing it to shame their victims and thus restore their own honor that was violated by the victims’ supposed wrongful acts against them.
And this is not just a matter of individual shame and honor. All of us non-Muslims, simply by the fact of our existing as non-Muslims, are rejecting Allah and the Prophet and thus insulting Islam.”

Some articles re: the ''Mohammed cartoons'' that you may have missed

Now that the cartoons are once again making headlines it might be interesting to take a look at some articles that people may have missed.

Many people believe that the cartoons were originally published just to annoy Muslims-- or for mere shock value-- which after all does sell newspapers. However that is not the case.

Rather, Flemming Rose, the culture editor of Jyllands-Posten, had a really good reason for publishing them. He explains his motivations in this article-- Why I Published Those Cartoons. (His reasons are probably quite different than you might imagine).

When the cartoons were first published there wasn't all that much controversy. In fact, after the original publication of the cartoons in Jyllands-Posten they were published (by Moslems) in Al Fager, an Egyptian paper-- with not a word of protest! (Cont'd).

The Chadian Talibans

There has been nearly no news about something which is terrible for Africa and specially for Darfur: the conquest by Saudi and Sudan-backed Jihadis of nearly all Chad in less than a week. Some days ago I wrote about the possibility of Chad being converted into an Islamic state. I was not wrong though it seems that reality could even worse than I thought at first.

Throughout nearly 25 years a terrible genocide has happened in Sudan. Both Christians and Animists were killed by Janjaweed, the demons from the North, who caused death and displacement all over the place, without any Western country turning their eyes on it. Then Janjaweed began killing Black Muslims and world attention happened to turn to the place. There were rumours that something was going to be done.

Finally both US President Bush, who called it a genocide, and UN agreed something should be done. They wanted to launch a humanitarian operation to save Darfur (or at least to save what was left of Darfur). But China also had very important interests in Darfur, being oil and other natural richesses the first Chinese interest, helping to kill Darfurians over the oil revenues. So they blocked nearly all possibility of an operation as Sudanese government had given them several concessions over oil in Darfur precisely.

Anyway, any operation in Darfur must be carried from Chad, whose Government backed the Western humanitarian intervention, as the Sudanese Government was financing the Chadian "rebels" and the flood of refugees from Sudan didn't have an end in a near future.

But we must take a look at this "rebels" and the main factions in it. There are mainly four "group of rebels" each with interesting past and leadership:
  1. The major rebel faction is Gen. Mahamat Nouri’s Union of Forces for Democracy and Development (UFDD). General Nouri, who is well past 50, served as minister of defence under President DEby four years ago before being appointed ambassador to Saudi Arabia. He resigned dramatically while in Saudi Arabia to become a rebel in eastern Chad, accusing the president of plunging the country into an abyssal depression. Sources say UFDD boasts between 3,000 and 6,000 fighters.
  2. Observers regard the Rally of the Forces of Change (RFC) as the second largest rebel movement hostile to the regime in N’djamena. The rebel faction is typical in that it is composed of former Presidential Guard officers that attempted to overthrow President Déby on 16 May 2005. The head is the president nephew, Timane Erdimi, nicknamed Rasputin, who after trying to kill the president in Ma 2005, was placed under closed surveillance, but he managed to join his men, after a visit to the Gulf countries. His men were in Eastern Chad, in the frontier with Sudan. (Eastern Chad had been a troubled area for months, without any important press coverage considering the importance of the place).
  3. The Chadian National Convention (CNT), which is led by Colonel Saleh Al Hassane Gadam Al Jinedi, a former trainee of the Tripoli military academy in Libya, is the third largest rebel movement active in eastern Chad. An internecine crisis has been rocking the rebel movement for a few days after the hardliners led by Colonel Hamid Abdelkader toppled Colonel Al Jinedi and his deputy Sheikh Al Fal. Jinedi was blamed for weakness toward President Déby Itno. A board headed by Colonel Hamid Abdelkader, a hardliner, now rules CNT, which is also credited to have a thousand men.
  4. The fourth largest movement, UFDD-Fundamental, a splinter group from General Nouri\’s original UFDD, came into the limelight last Wednesday when it captured the south-eastern town of Addé. UFDD-Fundamental is led by Abdelwahid Aboud Mackaye and is also believed to boast at least 500 fighters.
As you can see, everyone of these leaders have real relationships with the Wahhabi-Jihadi world.

But there is more: Walid Phares has written a very interesting essay today about what happened in Chad these last days. I'm going to post the most important part of it as it is somewhat long, but I recomment you to read it all if you have time for it.

The bottom line is that in one day, what could become the future Taliban of Chad have scored a strategic victory not only against the Government of the country (which was supposed to back up the UN plans to save Darfur in Sudan) but also against the efforts by the African Union and European Union to contain the Sudanese regime and stop the Genocide. Today's offensive, regardless of the next developments, has already changed the geopolitics of Africa. Outmaneuvering the West and Africans, those regimes and forces standing behind the "opposition" have shown that they are restless in their campaign against human rights and self determination on the continent. But even more importantly the events of today shows how unprepared are Europeans and Americans in front of Jihadi regimes which seem weak on the surface but highly able to surprise and crumble Western efforts of containment.

[...]At first sight a non seasoned observer would conclude that this is yet another African troubled country with a bunch of "separatists," "rebels" and "insurgents." In fact it is not that simple. These forces have been backed by the Jihadi regime in Khartoum and some of its funding -according to the Chadian Government- has been sent from Saudi Arabia.

[...] Using the classical doctrine of Khid'aa (or deception) the Khartoum regime bought as much time as it needed to allow the arming and training of the "rebels" inside Chad. The equipment used by the militias has been obtained in few months and "offices" were opened in several countries in the region. Oil dividends quickly poured on the future Taliban of Chad and their political and media training went very fast. All what the Sudanese regime had to do to abort the forthcoming Darfur UN operations was to collapse the basis from where these operations will be launched: Chad. The question is not about how did the Jihadists figure this out, it is rather how the strategists in Washington and Paris failed to predict it. Although it was very simple: Movements on the ground inside Chad and intense media activity in support on al Jazeera for months projected what was to come. How did the Atlantic allies fail to see the threat gathering is stunning?

[...] s the "opposition" forces have reached N'Djamena the official minister of what could become the future Taliban regime in Chad, Jibrin Issa was comfortably seated in al Jazeera's studios in Qatar. Obviously he wasn't flown from Africa to the Gulf on the request of the booking Department of the Qatari funded network to "react" to the offensive. He was already at the station -or at least in Qatar-when the offensive began. Very interestingly, the man was wearing a classical Western business outfit and clean shaved. The PR strategy was to show the world, including France and the US, that the forces thrusting into their ally wasn't a sister of the Islamic Courts of Somalia or a Taliban "looking" militia. The game was to project this coup as "domestic" against "corruption" and the rest of the litany, thus boring for average Western public.

[...] Out of the blue he started to thank the "brave commander of the Islamic Republic of Sudan" General Omar al Bashir (the head of the regime responsible for the Genocide in Darfur) for his help to the "movement" and started to praise his "highness the servant of the two shrines," (that is the Saudi Monarch) for his support (obviously to the movement). Suddenly, and despite the frustration of the al jazeera anchor that the game may have been exposed, I connected the dots. It was indeed a Sudanese-backed operation to change the regime in Chad, and backed by Wahabi circles, as a preemptive move to crumble the forthcoming humanitarian operation in Darfur. The Jihadists, kings of strategies, won another day. To preempt a UN move against one of their regimes (Sudan) they took out the Government which had agreed to help the UN and the West. In my sense this was highly predictable. But the failure of the West to predict is highly questionable.

But there is something in here which is missing: China sent some months ago, several UN peacekeepers, amid a huge protest from Darfurians who consider China responsible in part for the genocide. Some days ago, that same UN Peacekeepers have received the UN medal for humanitarian interventions. Very on time, isn't it?

So now, Sudan is accusing UN of a bloodshed in Chad. International press is fearing for the poor oponents to Chadian president and, for example, the NYT writes:
The crisis in Chad, which reached a climax last week as rebels nearly toppled the president, has largely been seen through the lens of its effect on the catastrophe in the Darfur region of neighboring Sudan.

As we have seen it is not largely been seen, it's really the MAIN and ONLY importance for this rebellion.

Oh, and refugees from Sudan continue entering Chad: this weekend 12,000. How many Jihadis disguised as peaceful refugees?
