Stonings in the streets of old Blighty?

So a nutcase called Anjem Choudary says he wants to see the “flag of Allah” flying over Downing street, stonings in British streets for adultery, whippings for drunkenness, all women, whether Muslim or not, walking around in bin bags.

So what? We can dismiss him, can’t we? Just some deranged fundamentalist?

Well, no, actually. While this laugh-a-minute preacherman may show signs of being a deranged fundamentalist, he’s deadly serious.

And we should be very wary of creeping Islamism, because it is unlikely that many Muslims would refuse to be part of such changes to British society if they thought such a state was a possibility.

My regular blog, Pink Triangle, has on many occasions pointed to how things are going. Just put “sharia” into the search box at the top there, and see our concerns.

And we’re not alone. Britain’s National Secular Society has been raising concerns about indoctrination in Muslim schools – schools that are paid for by UK taxpayers.

If you want to see sober, well-argued articles – articles that cite sources and are not just a rant – about how Islam wants to take over the West, have a look at Citizen Warrior’s blog.

But let’s go back to this arsehole Choudary. David Cohen’s Evening Standard article linked to earlier tells us:

The self-proclaimed Sharia judge admitted his followers had organised protests against British soldiers in Luton this week, waving placards which called them “murderers” for their conduct in Iraq.

Mr Choudary, a 41-year-old lawyer, said he was proud to be reviled. “It’s inevitable that when you offer an alternative morality and way of life many people will hate you for it.”

He said this “alternative morality” would mean “a pure Islamic state with Sharia law in Britain” and added: “Every woman, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, would have to wear a traditional burka and cover everything apart from her face and hands in public.”

“In matters to do with the judicial system and the penal code, one male witness is sufficient to counter the testimony of two females. People who commit adultery would be stoned to death.”

Mr Choudary, a father of three, admitted he lived off benefits despite objecting to the British state. He rejected suggestions of hypocrisy, saying: “I don’t think it’s of any importance.”

Well, no. Compared with Allah’s infinite mercy, what’s a few quid of taxpayers’ money?

The Daily Mail are doing a number on Choudary and not before time:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1161909/Swilling-beer-smoking-dope-leering-porn-hate-preacher-Andy-Choudary.html

Apparently 'Andy' Choudary had a taste for the forbidden earthly fruits and just couldn't wait until getting to Jannah to taste them such as beer, women, and song.

If there really is a God, Choudary will be hung drawn and quartered by his co-religionists for this and it'll be televised so we can watch.

Choudary: “Every woman, whether Muslim or non-Muslim, would have to wear a traditional burka and cover everything apart from her face and hands in public.”

Last year, I told a woman here in America that such was the goal of these Islamomaniacs. She didn't believe me, of course.

You beat me to it Andy, here's what I said in my post,

"I want to see the flag of Allah flying over Downing St"

Those are the words of Anjem Choudary, the same man who said that the thwarted car bombings in London and the terror attack against Scotland's busiest airport were "completely justified" and likely the beginning of many more attacks in Britain. The same Anjem Choundary who said that no non-Muslim is innocent. Yet for Choudary, there are no charges of hate crimes as he speaks sedition against his own countrymen, while Geert Wilders is barred from entering the UK for critisizing such men.

AOW, it's amazing isn't it? If it isn't on prime time tv news, people just assume it's kookery. They're just not going to believe it until Katie Couric or some other famous talking head clubs them over the head with it. I think we've entered a post-post-9/11 era where awareness of jihad has been rolled back beyond a pre 9/11 mentality. We've even stooped to talking with the oxymornic "moderate Taliban", pleading like idiots for the killers to like us.

From our point of view, we know what the Islamists are about and what they want. Although what choudary says enrages me a small part of me also says good, maybe the majority might be inflamed too, so perhaps he is doing us all a favour - as long as the media keep him in the spotlight.

You see I have this dream that the population will wake up and start making their demands too.

On the basis of the above the Luton protesters have ensured that the people will turn out in force to support the troops. Over 6,ooo turned out yesterday.

Andy,
This is the most important sentence in your important post:

" ... we should be very wary of creeping Islamism, because it is unlikely that many Muslims would refuse to be part of such changes to British society if they thought such a state was a possibility."

If there is any point I try to make over and over, here at IBA, it is exactly that.

There are no moderate Muslim political organizations, academic institutions, media outlets, or governments, of any appreciable size, anywhere in the world.

That means there is no organized moderate Muslim protest against creeping Sharia, or Islamism, or whatever you want to call it.

This does not mean there are not many Muslims who live their lives as moderates. Indeed, there are.

But, the problem is, those who live their moderate lives are cowed by the extremists. And, I believe this cowing has to do with superstition. I believe the moderates believe they would be wrong to opposed Sharia, because they would then be opposing the Will of Allah.

We see a similar mechanism in the Christian community. I'm a Christian. I observe it, even in myself. Personally, I'm squishy on abortion. However, it is very hard for me to define myself in opposition to my Christian fellows on the issue of abortion, because I do believe in the sanctity of life.

On the issue of gay rights, I don't, personally, have the same problem, because it is obvious to me that gay people are born gay, and that, at the very least, they do far less harm to a Church than your average Church gossip. All of us Christians put up with the Church gossip, but we object to gays? That's ludicrous.

But, the abortion issue? Yes, that's a problem. Why? Because, it's so hard to parse the idea of life. For instance, yes, in the first three months, a baby looks like little more than tissue. However, consider this, if a woman tried really hard to get pregnant (in the instance of someone who has had a hard time getting pregnant), she would not refer to that which was growing inside her as tissue. She would refer to it as her baby. And, if she were to lose the "baby", she would be distraught, and possibly inconsolable.

And, it would be impossible for any of us to really say to her without conflict in our souls, "Well, it was just tissue."

I go into all of this because I think we must recognize that there is a similar faith mechanism at work for Muslims. The Koran, according to Muslims, is the final and perfect word of Allah. There is nothing more to add, nothing at all. It is truth, and there is nothing else beside it.

So, just as I would have trouble parsing Life - when does life begin, end, etc. - a Muslim would have trouble parsing "Truth" - what in the Koran could be wrong, how wrong is it, how do we determine that this idea is wrong, and the other is not, why is it wrong, is it because truth changes, or was it always wrong, and if truth changes, then how is the Koran the final word of Allah, and/or is it that we must endlessly parse truth? etc. etc.

The Jews, of course, have no problem with constant questioning of the most basic concepts of their faith. And, this in my opinion, is why Judaism is the most healthy religion, the religion which produces the least violence, the most productivity, innovation, and creativity.

The Talmudic process is a model for all religions, but in particular, it is a model for Islam.

Islam needs to go through a Talmudic process of questioning the most basic elements of it's faith. And, incredibly, there is a mechanism, within Islam, for such a process to flower. It is called Ijma.

The hadith of Muhammad which states that "My community will never agree upon an error" is often cited as support for the validity of ijma.

It's too bad there is no organized school of Ijma.

Certainly, we Infidels can not be the initiators of such a process.

Until Muslims take up the mantle, and begin self-examination, they are on a collision course with disaster, because the modern world can not co-habitate with their medieval insanity.
