Is The Gay Community Being Used As A Trojan Horse?

H.R.1592 Matthew Shepard Act to be voted on tomorrow?

Title: To provide Federal assistance to States, local jurisdictions, and Indian tribes to prosecute hate crimesand for other purposes

Sponsor: Rep Conyers, John, Jr. [MI-14] (introduced 3/20/2007)

Note:  Conyers is a friend of CAIR and this legislation is a threat to free speech creating a protected class (guess which one).  In Canada they have created kangaroo courts wherein anyone can charge anyone else with hate speech and put them through a long legal and financial wringer . . just ask Ezra Levant or Mark Steyn.

Legislation to add sexual orientation and gender identity to the list of categories covered under federal hate crime law will be taken up Wednesday by the House Judiciary Committee

It is expected the bill will be marked up and be sent to the full House for a vote, possibly before the end of the month. President Obama has said that if the bill is passed he would sign it . The legislation passed the House in 2007, but President Bush threatened to veto it if it passed in the Senate.

Related Bills: H.RES.364S.1105

Latest Major Action: 5/7/2007 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Received in the Senate and Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Pastorius,

Isn't there a gay anti Jihad site called the Pink Triangle, that we have link to here at The Infidel Bloggers Alliance on occasion? I think this is their website. I wonder what they would think of this.

Good question, Damien.

I wrote a note to Andy Armitage to see what he thinks.

Pastorius,

Nice to hear from you. I hope you get a reply.

Got your email, Pasto. I'm looking at it, but I'm not as au fait with things on the ground in the US and some significances might escape me. In the UK our attitude to Muslims tends to be different because, as someone from the US pointed out to me recently (in the Pink Triangle blog's comments section, I think), that the big problem there is the Christian Right (not Christians per se, it has to be said). He said that Muslims tended to integrate better culturally, whereas over here they tend to do a lot of moaning and demanding. I may be wrong.

BTW, Damien, Pink Triangle is a gay blog, its contributors are, I'd say, anti-jihad but it wasn't set up as a "gay anti-jihad" blog as such. Hey, I'm splitting hairs. But it is anti-jihad by dint of its being anti-religion (or, rather, anti-religious-privilege), because it's mainly catering to humanists/secularists who are gay or gay-friendly.

Hope your knowledge of it is a sign that you're a reader! And, yes, it gets its fair share of posts knocking Dark Ages Islam.

As for the original question, maybe I need a bit more background, Pasto, since I'm not really sure what I'm being asked.

Andy,
You're right. The distinctions you make are, I believe, spot on.

Here in the U.S., the Christian Right does everything it can to make the gay community feel as unwelcome in this world as possible. The whole, "Love the sinner, hate the sin" routine is almost always blanket bullshit.

And, to call any Fundamentalist out on the question, here's what I do. I ask, "Who causes more trouble in a church, a gay couple, or the Church gossip?

Clearly, the gossip causes more destruction, and yet we all put up with the gossip and reject the gays.

Larger point being, you're right, the Christian Right helps to drive a wedge between the gay community and the anti-Jihad movement, because the anti-Jihad movement is perceived by the gay community as a movement of the Right, because so many Christian Fundamentalists are active members.

Something to note: I consider myself a Fundamentalist Christian. My definition of a Fundamentalist Christian is a "Bible-believing Christian". I believe in the Bible. That does not mean that I believe that my interpretation of the Bible is absolute Truth. Therefore, I am not a judge. The Judge is God, and I don't believe he would do anything counter to Love.

The Bible says, "Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God and everyone that loves is born of God and knows God."

As far as I'm concerned, that includes gay people, because Christ died for all humanity. And love supersedes all law. If a person loves, then Christ's blood is sufficient to cover any "sin" which he may commit, or have been born with.

I don't know if I'm making myself clear, or if all this crap even matters to the subject.

In my opinion it does, because I am quite tired of my fellow Christians rejection of the gay community. And, I think that rejection is not only morally wrong, but it contributes to the political chaos in America.

Its no big deal. I just tend to label any blog that at times is critical of Islam or speaks out against Jihad, as anti Jihad.
