All of us, every single man, woman, and child on the face of the Earth were born with the same unalienable rights; to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. And, if the governments of the world can't get that through their thick skulls, then, regime change will be necessary.

Life During Wartime
finished reading One Second Afterlast night. Everyone should read it. Especially our "leaders". Unfortunately, taken with eevrything else, I'm feeling a bit dim about our prospects.
This song just seems perfect for right now. And what may be coming.

OSA doesn't dwell on who detonated the EMP beyond noting that it was one of the Usual Suspects. The emphasis is on the horrifying reality of an American college town suddenly thrust back into the 19th century and trying to cope with the cascade of hardship, starvation, violence and death. It doesn't fit most people's concept of "war" -- no mobilization for victory, no support the troops -- no idea where they are or whom they are fighting, no protest marches, no mushroom clouds. No darkly poetic journeys down the Road to post-apocalyptic salvation. Just a devastatingly clear-eyed depiction of what could be your life, dear reader, if that EMP Thingy you've heard snippets of warnings about but you keep telling yourself Can't Happen Here, does.

Sleep tight...
Exactly what makes it so compelling, RRA. It was an excellent read.
