Rafsanjani Resigns

What the hell is going on in Iran?

Rafsanjani is certainly no "moderate", and yet, apparently, the Mullahs find they need to rid themselves of him.

Former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani has resigned from his position as Expediency Council chairman following the results of the nationwide elections.

According to a report by al-Arabiya, Rafsanjani also resigned from a position he held with a committee responsible for determining the interests of the Iranian regime.

For all those in the anti-Jihad bloggers out there who believe this is a non-story, I think you'd better rethink your position.

The extraordinary steps the Mullahcracy is taking in arresting opposition leaders, and apparently forcing Rafsanjani to resign shows that the Mullahs are threatened.

This story is NOT about Mousavi.

This story is about the human beings who make up the population of Iran. They are telling us they do not want things to go on as they have been.

How can this be a non-story, when it is an opportunity to effect change. An opportunity that must be exploited, taken advantage of.

To call this a non-story is the height of nihilism, and frankly, it reminds me of how the Lefties behaved during the time of the Iraqi elections and the Cedar Revolution. Bush's mishandling of the opportunity for Democracy in the Middle East is not the final word on the possibility of Democracy in the Middle East.

MOUSAVI IS NOT A TRUE REFORMER BY OUR STANDARDS, BUT THE PEOPLE OF IRAN PROBABLY WANTED HIM AND THE FACT THAT THE MULLAH TYRANTS WON;PT ALLOW IT EXPOSES THEM TO THE WORLD AND ALL OF IRAN, TOO.

SO WE ARE AT A CROSSROADS.

HOW WE RESPOND NOW WILL DETERMINE EVENTS FOR THE NEXT YEAR - AND PERHAPS THE DESTINY OF THE WEST, OF THE FREE WORLD.

IF THIS FRAUD LEADS TO A REVOLT AND AN OVERTHORW OF THE MULLAHS THEN WE CAN PROBABLY BREATH EASIER:

THE PEOPLE WILL ANNIHILATE THE MUKLLAHS: THEY'LL BEB HANGING FROM LAMPPOSTS ALL OVER IRAN, AND THE NATION WILL BE CONVULSED BY CIVIL WAR.

WE MUST TAKE A STAND: WITH DEMOCRACY.

WE DFO NOT HAVE TO IMPOSE OUR VIEWS ON ANYHTING ELSE:

MOST IRANIANS HATE ISRAEL AND JEWS AND A PLURALITY PROBABLY HATE CHRISTIANS.

THEY DESERVE DEMOCRACY DESPITE THIS.

AND DEMOCRACY AND LIBERTY WILL LEAD TO ENLIGHTENMENT IN OTHER AREAS.

WITHOUT DEMOCRACY AND FREE SPEECH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE AT BECOMING LESS BIGOTED.

Relia has something up about the Iranian aristocracy...

The one good thing about this is that now Bibi, especially after his speech today, will have cover to go smash the Mullahs...

I was concerned Khamenei was going to put Mousavi to buy time and alter the facade of the regime...
