Yes, very subtle:
-There are no African Americans at these events. Have you ever felt uncomfortable? (The reporter doesn't think she is a racist, but she considers that a Black man among a lot of Whites should feel uncomfortable. Why? Because of his race).
-No, this are my people, Americans (the Black man doesn't consider his skin or the one of the rest in the concentration, as a very important characteristic).

Yes, it sounds completely idiot and racist. I don't believe this guy would go to a KKK event.
